Detailed Reviews
We stayed here for one night while in town for business. It’s a 60s row motel on a busy/noisy county road. It has been remodeled with very nice touches and modern design trends. The room was clean and well appointed for our needs. The cost is a bit high for what it is but two $10 breakfast vouchers were included. The walls a thin. We could hear the conversations in the rooms next to us, not to mention their TV and baby screaming at 1am. They also allowed smoking right out side our door and people were up smoking and peeking in our windows in the middle of the night and we could smell smoke in our room from the outside. Staff was not wearing their masks when we went to check in at the front desk. Breakfast was a bit of a hassle. Waited 20 minutes for a cup of coffee that never came because they “made it wrong”. Could hear the manager(?) yelling at staff from the table we were sitting at. It’s spit polished and cute and I can see what they are trying to do, and they have almost nailed it but they need a staffing overhaul and to not allow smoking on the premise. And wear your masks. You could be reported for that. The value was not worth $140.

Hotel Rapids is a very pleasant drive-up hotel where we stayed one night during our drive back to Canada. The room is not large but it has all the amenities of a large hotel. It was clean and new with a well thought out floor plan.
The bed was comfortable and it is a pet friendly hotel. After an anxious drive in the dark to get there (deer are everywhere!) we were happy to see there was a bar on site. We enjoyed our drink outside by the propane fire pit in some comfortable loungers. The patio is tastefully decorated with flower arrangements. The staff was very friendly.
We were given $10 vouchers to be used towards crepes for breakfast. They were made to order and delicious.

For some reason all the hotels in town were full, so last ditch effort we found this place and it was affordable and newly remodeled.
Rooms and furnishings were nice. Place is quaint, welcoming, and comfortable. This establishment is not a cookie cutter chain so there are some unique features to the remodel of the older building. I for one am happy to not have a cookie cutter stay.
Unfortunately there were some negatives. Heating in the rooms leave a little to be desired, and there is no heat in the hallway. Bathroom vent was noisy closing from the wind, so I closed the bathroom door, except there is no heat at all in the bathroom, so it was freezing!! I went to touch the mirror and surprise, it moves! There was no light in the shower and it was unique which made it a bit challenging.
I would recommend staying here but be aware of some little quirks.

Decent hotel but they polished a turd here, but it had nice beds.
Construction workers don’t even waste your time setting up a rate. We set a rate up with management for a double room. We told them we would be here for 4-6 weeks so they gave us a monthly rate with the understating we would be here an additional week or two, and just pay weekly for the final week or 2.
After the month was up they booked our room for someone else and wanted us 2 move into a single room for $30 more per night for 2 nights then move into a different double room for $20 per night more until the end of our stay. Ridiculous way to manage a business and treat workers in the area. On top of all of this the first week and a half we were here we didn’t receive house keeping at all. Our garbage was stacked up and no toilet paper. We talked to management and were promised it would be taken care of the next day. It was not taken care of until 2 days later. After that anytime our room was cleaned we hardly got any toilet paper, never vacuumed and threw our personal blankets on the floor.
The way we were treated by this hotel is awful, I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.
Oh yeah I should add that they double booked our room 4 days before the end of our contract. All we got from management was “sorry”

This is a quaint boutique motel. My family of 4 adults stayed in the 3-bedroom suite. You can tell it’d been recently renovated, was clean, comfortable and at a great price! We loved that every room had its own TV and gave us plenty of room to be together yet not feel cramped. The 3rd bedroom doubled as the main room and had a trundle bed. The kitchen was equipped with microwave and about 4’ high fridge/freezer. It also had glassware, silverware, and plates with countertop seating. With our stay, we also got $20 to spend for breakfast or dinner at the on-site bistro. Bistro has 4 tables and small bar seating area. There’s also small outside patio with comfortable seating and fire pit. We will definitely stay here again when visiting Grand Rapids.

Very nicely remodeled old time drive up motel. Decor was tastefully done throughout the property. Not overdone on the "Up North" feel. Kitchenette very nicely stocked. Had a boutique feel, but not snobby. The hotel bar/restaurant is right on trend. Great cocktails, and crepes are their specialty. Crepes served all day long. Sweet and Savory. We each ordered 1 type and shared. You can't go wrong with any of them. There is no pool. A nice variety of rooms/suites available. Great outdoor spaces to enjoy as well. Patio heaters and tables. Plenty of room to "distance" if you like. It was very nice to pull up to your room and unload and then load up when leaving. Staff was very friendly and efficient. It is locally owned and they partner with other businesses in town offering discounts and reccos to each other. Great place to give your business to. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

Clean room which was nicely decorated. LOVE the bathroom, and our room came with a kitchenette which is great. Good location, right on our road trip. Staff were very friendly. Breakfast menu consists only of crepes (really nice, if you like that sort of thing) but we were only given two breakfast vouchers despite three of us staying in the room. Coffee was also not included in our breakfast - vouchers $10 value each, so coffee took us over the limit.

If the staff had been more responsive, I would be writing a very different review, but unfortunately, that was not the case. In the time of Covid I am hyper aware of cleanliness and adherence to safe protocol and both were lacking. Masks and social distancing were not enforced, even though the lobby/dining area is fairly small. My room had flies and there was mildew on the shower curtain. The last straw was when I tried to take a shower only to find that the handle for the temp control was broken and stuck on scalding. When I told the people at the front desk the response was "Oh, that's maintenance'--No,"we are so sorry' or any offer to rectify the situation. Very disappointed.

This is a recentlyremodeled hotel that my wife and I stayed at for our wedding anniversary. We met and got married at a nearby camp. The breakfast crepes were wonderful. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The shower was hard to get adjusted to the right temperature. Parking seemed to be at a premium, but that was probably due to the shape of the property.

We have stayed in Grand Rapids before and wanted to try a different hotel. The Hotel Rapids is a gem. The owners took a roadside motel and converted it into a charming fun place to stay. The restaurant/bar is adorable. Chris and Hannah were delightful and made our dinner awesome. They only serve crepes for dinner and breakfast, which we thought was very unique. What nice change from the usual hotel breakfast. The staff in the morning was delightful too. They have a lovely patio which we didn't use because it was too chilly. We'll try it out on our next stay. The bed and sheets were very comfortable. Thank you Hotel Rapids for a lovely stay.

Breakfast wasn’t available when we visited early in August 2019, but the lobby area was undergoing significant remodeling. It looked like they would have the facilities for breakfast. Best to call the hotel.
There are some pet-friendly rooms.
