We were impressed with this hotel. A friend made reservations for us so we weren't sure what to expect. Courteous staff.
The room was wonderful, and the shower with dual heads and extra jets was amazing.
The restaurant/bar opened for the first day when we arrived, so most of our large group ate here. There wasn't a lot of distancing. The food though made up for it and was very good and the servers were on the ball, serving a lot of people in a short period of time.
I would stay here again.

I live in a neighboring community and my husband and I decided to try the Timberlake Restaurant. I'm so glad we did. The hostess greeted us with a smiling face and upbeat attitude (refreshing after the experience we had at two other restaurants in town). We were quickly seated, despite not having reservations. Our waitress was perhaps the best we've ever had. She was knowledgeable not only about the menu, but about the community and iron range area. She was friendly upbeat and provided top notch service. I had told her I had a craving for sweet potato fries, thankfully for me, they're on the menu. She must have told the cook what I said, because I think they gave me extra. There was no shortage of them on my plate and I didn't think it was possible, but they were the BEST sweet potato fries I've ever had. Seriously, you must try them! My husband had a cup of the cheeseburger soup instead of a salad. He said it was delicious, and by the way he devoured it so quickly, I don't think he was exaggerating. I don't usually write reviews, but because the food was so good and the service impeccable, I felt I just had to share our experience.

We had an excellent stay at Timberlake lodge! Staff was phenomenal. We had a nice warm breakfast and the front lobby area was so warm and inviting. My grandkids had a room that had bunk beds and a sleeper sofa! Couldn’t have been more perfect! Dog friendly, kid friendly! Perfect stay for us! Wonderful bathroom towels! The owner made a point of talking to his guests. We’ll be back!

The hotel lobby was nice but the staff member who checked us in seemed a little unfriendly. Once on the way to our room. The elevator started to close before we got there and the housekeeper stopped it and waited for us. The elevator was running a bit slow and the housekeeper started complaining about how this happens nonstop and she spend way more time waiting around than she should for only $10.50 an hour. They then went on to complain more about how little they make and how much they are expected to do then voiced that they were thinking about taking another job because of it. It was a very uncomfortable situation. Once I got to my room, I noticed how outdated and beat up the furniture and decor was. It also wasn’t super clean. There was garbage on the floor by the table from someone before us, the bedspread had bleach spots and stains, the fabric chairs were dirty and had something crusty on it, the fridge was shut off and leaking on the floor, there was dust hanging off the headboard, the heater had something sticky in the grates and it was quite dirty, the phone had sticky stuff and dust on it, the door of the heater had food in it, the tub had dirty spots in it, and there was toothpaste or soap splatter on the walls in the bathroom. Also, our towel bar was broken. The blow dryer and iron, that’s usually hanging on walls at hotels were just tossed in the closet on a shelf. We went and checked out the swimming area, and although it was okay, it was very small and the pool was super shallow. 4’9 at the dealers point. The water slide was a neat feature though. It was nice and quiet there considering how busy it was. It is also a dog friendly hotel and we saw dogs as small as dachshunds and as big as Great Danes. It was nice seeing a hotel that caters to all size dogs as many don’t. The beds in both of our rooms were not very good. The mattresses were kind of springy and didn’t feel very solid and the sheets/bedding had snags all over it. Also our ac and heater didn’t work properly. The next day we went down for breakfast and that was honestly the best part of the stay. The food was hot and they had a great variety of items that they kept filled up. They had an inviting and comfortable eating area and the staff in there were so nice and helpful. I definitely think they need to do some updating for the hotel however, to be charging the prices they are charging.

We were forced to stay here as a team for a recent tournament. (The tournament told us where we stay). We were given no discounted rates for rooms even though we took a huge block for the team. While the hotel was clean and the staff was friendly, it was not near the $180/night we were forced to pay. During majority of our stay there was a strong Marijuana smell in the hall near our rooms, the elevator and other areas. Several of our parents complained to the staff and nothing was done. They didn't even try to figure out where it was coming from. Our last night there a fistfight happened outside some of our doors in the middle of the night. (Other people, not our team). When the front desk was called they said they would call law enforcement but no one from hotel even came up to check on things. There are no peepholes so you have to fully open your door to see whats happening. Again, we complained as we were woke up in the middle of the night and nothing was done. The chlorine smell in the pool area was so strong your eyes burned after a short time, even if you were watching and not in the pool itself. We had to keep taking breaks and go get fresh air for our eyes to stop burning. When our kids told the staff their eyes were burning they were told it was a chemical reaction to the pee in the pool. If that is true...yuck! We didnt go back in after this info. Restaurant was not real family friendly and over priced. I will never choose to stay here. If we have another tournament in GR I will call and request our team is not placed at this hotel. Stayed at way better places that are better run for a lot less. Gave the score I did because it was clean, staff were friendly (although not real helpful) and breakfast was decent.

This was our first visit to the Timberlake Lodge and if and when we return to Grand Rapids, we will definitely stay there again. Real nice hotel with a good location, clean room, quiet, friendly & helpful staff, reasonable rate; we had a wonderful stay. As an added bonus, the free hot breakfast was one of the better ones we've had over the years. Hope to see you again next year!

Very nice room, great price, nice pool. Off the main road, so very quiet. Unfortunately we were there during pandemic, so can't rate the breakfast, but we did get breakfast served to us and hot coffee. Super nice shower in rooms. It was a Sunday, so restaurant/bar was closed. No employees wore masks, which was a bit disappointing, but all were very professional. Would stay there again.

Came here for a hockey tournament group and the pictures looked better than the overall hotel for the price. Beds were very average, the fan in the room wouldn’t work and the TV was very old for this day and age. Overall average but for the hotel options In GR I am not sure how it compares.

My husband and I stayed 4 nights at Timberlake, and everything was perfect. The room was clean, and the bathroom was spotless. The staff were very friendly and accomodating. The breakfast was different each day, and offered a wide variety of foods. We ate 3 nights at the hotel restaurant, and it was delicious. I would give this a 10 out of 10, positive review!

My wife and I along with a few others enjoyed the Thanksgiving Buffet. If your afraid that you will miss your home cooked meal ,don’t be ! The spread that Timberlake Lodge puts on will exceed your expectations. I only wish I could have eaten more.

Are there any pandemic protocols in place for the safety of guests and staff?
Answer from Sandy O
Sauk City, Wisconsin1,277 contribution182 helpful votes
Like most hotels, they are not offering daily maid service. If you need extra towels etc they will drop them off for you. I believe the check in staff was masked. Their restaurant just opened a week ago and had take out orders and was trying to distance people who chose to dine in.
