Detailed Reviews
Stayed at this campground recently. Our site overlooked the lake, which was beautiful. Only downfall was that people with extremely loud vehicles kept on driving down to the boat dock in the wee hours of the morning, but not the campground fault. We had full hook ups and our site was a drive thru.. Campground very clean. When we were leaving, the manager was cleaning up someone's dog poop in a lawn area by the children's playground, which I felt was above and beyond. Loved the manager. Very pleasant, thorough, and was pleasant when I called with all my questions, Would definitely stay here again.

The location is on top of a hill overlooking the lake (a flooded mine pit). It’s a gorgeous view. Staff were great and dealt with issue of barking dogs immediately.
The lake was absolutely beautiful. There is a sandy beach and a sand bar that extends out. The water was as clear as the ocean. We were able to walk out and have a school of blue gills surround us!! The kids loved it. We will definitely be going back.

Breathtaking views of Lake Ore Be Gone! Clean, quiet campground...each site has plenty of room. Have you ever camped somewhere and just felt cramped? These sites are spacious enough so you can relax. The beach at Lake Ore Be Gone is within walking distance. There's a cute little candy/ice cream shop also within walking distance. The price is very affordable as well!

On the front of the pavilion needs to be a sign that says it only for certain sites to use. Another thing— my dad cannot hear very well and parked in the wrong spot—he moved the camper—so it would be helpful if they put the site number on your vehicle pass so that won’t happen again.

This is a nice campground with very nice and helpful owners. We're hockey fans, not ORV or SCUBA people so we can't give any information on the lake (except that it's quite pretty) or the trails. But the location is very close to the US Hockey Hall of Fame! It was very hot while we were there in late June (unseasonable heat wave) so while we were there it would have been nice to have a lot more trees near us but most times of the year that would not be an issue. The campground was clean and clearly has attentive owners.

+1
This is our fourth year coming up to the campgrounds. First year for me going on the Mesabi Iron Range ATV trails. I was in a jeep with friends and some of the others were on ATVs. WOW! All level of trails to ride, from easy/all vehicles, to difficult/with all types of restrictions that I had no idea what it meant. I'm glad I went, I was glad when we were done. We did damage a break line on the jeep. A definitive check off. Didn't get any decent pictures because I couldn't let go of the roll bar! There is a bicycle trail for the smarter people:) Book early, the campground is all ready filling up for next year.

This is a great little camp ground. Conveniently located in the heart of Gilbert right next to Lake Ore-Be-Gone, which has some really great diving.
It's a clean campground with nice camping sites. Be sure to follow all of the rules or the campground host will bite your head off.
Get your reservation in early because it fills up fast with people who use the ATV park.

Booked 2 nights at Sherwood based on the reviews. From the moment we entered the campground we realized this was a good place for a weekend getaway. The sites are spacious with paved driveway throughout the park and trees divide some of the campsites. We stayed in loop A close to washroom and showers. Short walk to orebegone lake pristine and clear for tubing and swimming. Very friendly staff made our stay even better with knowledge of eateries and must stop sausage store nearby. All within 5 minute walking.

The pit is now a lake called Lake Ore Be Gone and on the northern hillside of the pit is Sherwood Forest Campground owned by the City of Gilbert. There are pull thru's, tent sites and full hook-ups. Premium sites over look the lake. Grounds are kept up beautifully, but one caution-this campgound is right next to an OHV trail and many of the campers are off roader's who sometimes forget their manners about noise and speed. However, it is pretty quiet the majority of time. They except Good Sam cards for a discount.
