Very clean room. Windows across the room from each other, so good airflow. Also a fan and AC. Close to the street, but extremely quiet. Friendly front desk, with coffee and tourist info. Lawn chairs outside each room. No smoking in all rooms. Attention to details like beds nicely made, towels fresh and folded, etc. Good, free wifi.
We were very pleasantly surprised by Koke's Motel. Cosmetically, it is a bit rough. But if you're looking for perfection, you will be paying 150 at a chain hotel suites. This is a good sleep at a good price - about 70 bucks all in. I've rated this place based on budget motel comparisons, not larger chains.

Have been staying here while working in the area. Rooms are clean and tidy and the owners are accommodating. As Scott said, this is perfect for what it is. It's a quiet motel in a small town. Perfect walking distance to downtown to get a bite to eat and a beer. This is my new spot when I'm in town.

Well some places are what they are. If Koke’s had a rate of maybe 35.00 or 45.00 dollars a night I wouldn't be so harsh but they charged me 65.00 or 69.00 bucks a night. I mean the place is a dump and if they charged accordingly I would give it another star.

The guy behind the front desk was friendly enough, this wasn’t his usual gig, I think he was filling in and admitted he didn't know how to do a wake up call.
I stayed in room 4. Carpet was sticky and dirty. After driving all day I just wanted to take a shower but after seeing the shower I decided not too. The sign in the room asked not to put pizza boxes on the bed. I was wondering why not since the bed covers were already stained.
Wasn’t no coffee in the “lobby” but was told I could come by in the morning and he could make some. Smoke alarm was in a couple of pieces next to a used up oder deodorizer.
I have stayed in some very nice hotels for 69.00 bucks. This wasn't one of them.

Dear Valued Customer, We are truly sorry for your bad experience at our motel. First and foremost, please forgive us as we are currently new owners to the business and at the time of your stay we were just getting accustomed to how things should be run. We have recently started renovations to our "Older-style" building including the replacement of the carpeting in many of our rooms as well as upgrading the bathrooms to include more up to date features. We now also include personal coffee pots in most of our rooms for the convenience of our guests. We understand how tough todays economy can be so we keep our prices competitive to those of similar motels in our area. We are sorry you are displeased with our complementary candy "kisses" we leave for each guest. This is a tradition of which the motel has had for many decades and we have made the decision to continue the tradition under the late owners wishes. If you should ever decide to stay with us again, please let us know so we can accommodate the room to your wishes. Again, we are sorry for the issues that occurred during your stay. We aim to ensure that these types of things do not ever occur again. Thank you, Management.

This is a cheap motel in a tiny town 3 hours north of Minneapolis. If your expectations are set right, it's perfect for what it is. The room was outdated and a little chilly with a tiny TV and no minibar. But that's exactly what I expected, and considering I spent almost no waking time in the room, it measured up quite well.

I was looking for a hot shower, clean sheets and a quiet night's sleep on a budget, this was an excellent find. I'll be back the next time I'm driving through Eveleth on Hwy 53 ! Koke's Motel had been recommended to me as a good choice by a group of traveling referees who were in Eveleth to officiate a roller derby match.
