This was our first stay at a La Quinta Inn. It was for one night for me my fiancé and my dog before traveling further north to explore the North Shore. We were between this and Fitger’s and ultimately chose here because we could leave our dog for a bit if needed (Fitger’s does not allow you to leave your dog in the room unattended). Check in and check out was fine. Room seemed nice enough and was clean. We were happy (at first) to get the room all the way at the end of the first floor and as it was right next to an exit door and we could park right there. This actually turned out to be the worst room we could have gotten. After check in we decided to leave the pup to go get something to eat. 15 min after leaving we got a call that a guest complained they could hear a dog crying in our room. Understandable that’s an issue so we headed back. When we got back we did not hear our dog crying outside the door but decided just stay in with her. We soon realized why she was crying. This room had a door to stairs right in front of it which was used frequently and was really loud as the door slammed shut. Each time this scared our dog and she would cry. This also scared me awake several times throughout the night so we did not get the best nights sleep either. Other things were not great. The breakfast was also terrible. Poor options and what was offered was inedible. We booked late which drives up the cost but this room was not worth over $200 regardless. I wish we would have chosen Fitger’s. The price was comparable for a much nicer, way cooler hotel right on the water and next to the attractions. Instead of sulking in our bed eating goldfish crackers for dinner trying to keep our dog calm we could have probably ventured out with her instead and been able to explore Duluth a bit more as was the plan. Or ordered room service as They had a restaurant. Lesson learned for next time. Great hotel if you get it for cheaper and just need a place to sleep, but didn’t work for us.…
Convenient to the veterans cemetery where we attended a funeral service. Breakfast left a lot to be desired. Eggs so salty not edible. Pancakes hard on edges so hardly edible. No toaster, little fruit, a few prepackaged pastries. Room was decent and seemed clean. We had to go down to front desk to get a blanket for the pull out vs someone bringing it to our room. No pillows either in room. TV remote didn't work. Hot tub out of order during our stay. It's the little things. May be why they had vacancy where our top 2 choices did not (and none of them by the lake, btw.) Price was affordable. Staff nice enough. I would consider staying again if my preferred options didn't work out.
What more could you ask for ? Easy check in, clean room, walk in shower, TV was a little dark. Used the pool and hot tub twice, very clean with towels. Wife used the workout room, clean. Hot breakfast in the morning. Great prices clean safe. Recommend!
Couldn't be happier with our stay at the La Quinta in Duluth. The room was clean, comfortable, and very quiet. The front desk staff was very nice and friendly. Will stay there again if we make back to Duluth!
It was great. Quiet. Comfortable beds. Big vanity in the bathroom. Really liked the glass shower. Breakfast was filling and offered good array of food. It was busy so not a lot of seating. Rooms were well appointed with scenes of Duluth. I liked the blue accents throughout which may be a nod to the waterfront. Staff friendly. I really had wanted to be at a hotel near the lake but they were too pricey. This hotel was still more than I wanted to pay, but it served our needs.
