Great location near the canal love watching the ships come in and out had a great time and good breakfast to start the day. Rooms are clean and the staff is friendly and help full. Near shops and restaurants. We will definitely be back again soon
We had a good stay at the Hampton Inn Duluth. The room was very clean and the beds were comfortable. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. It’s a great location in the heart of Canal Park, close to shopping, restaurants, and the lift bridge.
I will start out by saying that all the staff we encountered at this hotel were very friendly and helpful which was appreciated and recognized. We booked this hotel because it was on Canal Park and knew we would pay more for that experience. The room was over $350.00 per night and could very well have been less than a Country Inn and Suites experience. Our disappointments were: linens so thin you could see through them, lack of comfortable furniture to sit to relax in the room, no housekeeping unless you ask for it (I get it as a Covid decision), had to ask for more tissues and toilet paper, hot breakfast was not good (stick to the toast), could hear loud doors closing and people in room above walking through their room. I would not recommend paying the price asked for this hotel which would be more in line with a 4 star hotel versus the experience we had.…
Hotel staff very helpful with suggestions for activities and restaurants. Myiesha (sp?) on evenings and days jumped right in when multiple people were standing in line to be checked in on 9/7 to start the line moving. The other 2 desk people were busy on phones. Breakfast was really good for a hotel breakfast during Covid. And we could sit in the dining room looking out at the lake. Great location to walk around Canal Park and see everything. Watched the freighters (go to harbordock.com for times) and took very educational Harbor Cruise (Vista Fleet). Covid regulations at the hotel were very well explained.
I have stayed at a couple other hotels in Canal Park. All have been nice. I honestly chose Hampton Inn for the price point with breakfast. To my surprise, it has turned out to be one of the best places in Canal Park I have stayed and I will stay again. Staff was wonderful as was the room and breakfast. Free water at the front desk and to our surprise, even with a full breakfast buffet with real potatoes, eggs and chicken sausage, they have breakfast to go for the day bags at the front desk. Lots of good hot coffee at all times. Friendly staff that actually chatted with us and didn’t act as if they hated their jobs! I will be staying again!
