2* hotel 5* prices. This place needs a fire. Seriously a ma pa hotel for $300/night? Fridge microwave and coffee maker all stacked on each other on top of a grungy outdated carpet. Clean, but small rooms ONE sink in a 24” vanity. No reading chair :( Place like a maze as far as parking ramp check in on the 3rd floor just not what we paid for. I give it 2 stars as the staff seems nice

The hotel is generally ok, the pictures are definitely better than real life. Everything about this hotel is cheap and poorly maintained. We got a room without windows and it felt like we were in a shoe box. The hallway smelled SOOOOO bad, had bags of garbage laying around the entire time, and employees did not care to take them out. I had to ask them too take care of garbage in the hallway EVERYDAY. Why employees did not want to take care of their property? Only one employee wore a mask, even though there is a sign that masks are strongly encouraged. Our toilets did not work the entire stay, even though the maintenance person came in twice (without a mask) . Every time I would ask them to fix the toilet or pick up the garbage in the hallway they would say “OKEY”. It was definitely not okey.

Chose Duluth Downtown for its proximity to areas we were visiting. Staff seemed too busy to be bothered and not sincere. We stayed in a double room. Our bathroom did not have a bathroom fan, which made it quite uncomfortable considering we had wet swimsuits hanging every day. Not enough places to hang towels or a suit, which forced us to just have them replaced each day. Also, the upper pool was COLD. Colder than the indoor air temp. The lower pool was more comfortable, except for the fact we (another guest asked too) had to ask for pool towels multiple times over the span of over an hour. My husband finally ended up getting them for all of us from the upper pool. Additionally, my son and I each stepped on clear pieces of broken plastic from a plastic bubble from one of the game room machines. When brought to the attention to the front desk, the response was "we are really sorry" took the piece from me and just threw it in the trash and went back to talk to her coworker, I think she might have been thankful we weren't asking for towels again. On a positive note, we had a VERY enjoyable dinner at Lyric downstairs.

We stopped here coming from Grand Marais and heading towards Wisconsin. Getting in and out of the hotel could not have been easier. However, the free parking ramp was a challenge. I had a full sized pickup truck and navigating the turns almost got me stuck. I had to reverse in several places. The room, a two room suite was spotless and the 8th floor pool was very relaxing albeit cold. The one thing that people need to know about is its location. It is in a area that is undergoing changes. Lots of of construction and an abundance of homeless people. I am OK with homeless people, but it was a surprise initially. Just down the street is a youth center and a mission. During the day, these people wander the neighborhood. Ambulances and drug use were very common.

I had memories staying here as a kid. Perhaps the age of the hotel lowered my expectations… but I was pleasantly surprised with our stay. The lobby was clean and welcoming. We loved the indoor parking, the nice restaurant at ground level for takeout, and the great view of the lift bridge from our room. Beds were decent and the room was clean. The pools were both crowded due to sports tournaments. We never waited long for an elevator. Kudos to the front desk staff for allowing us and early check in and delayed check out! Much appreciated.
