Detailed Reviews
We selected the Lockview because we had stayed here before. We were happy to see they kept the vintage sign on the lawn instead of trashing it when new owners came in. When we checked in, we were told we would not receive daily maid service because of the pandemic, but if we needed anything, we should ask. On a daily basis, we requested coffee packets, and they were happily handed over. Our room was a "cabin" which is one of the older rooms. We requested a queen bed and we could see that other cabins were larger than ours, so be aware if you request one bed, you'll probably be placed in a smaller room. We didn't have a problem with the size but some might. The "closet" space was over the refrigerator so your clothes will hang onto the fridge. A dresser and desk round out the room. The bed has only one nightstand and no individual lamp. The bathroom included a tub and shower with good water pressure and no problems with hot water. Our bed was very comfortable although it was next to the window that held the air conditioner so it was a bit loud. We also had to play around with the fan and temperature to find the right combination because at first we were seriously cold. Since there was nowhere else to sit in the room, we had to crawl under the comforter to stay warm while we figured out the temperature. At night we turned the air conditioner off because of the noise but half way through the night it became stuffy since it was so warm outside. So, you can see our biggest issue was with the air conditioner. We really like how we park right outside the door so it's easy to bring the luggage in. Others have mentioned cleanliness issues. The only thing I noticed was under the bed. I found beer bottle tops which should have been picked up by a vacuum cleaner or housekeeping looking under the bed to make sure it was clean. (I was on a mat exercising when I saw the tops.) The location can't be beat as you are right across from the locks and can hear the boats toot. You are also right downtown and walking distance from restaurants and sites. It is an older property, but we like the charm of the mom-and-pop style motels. This is not a cookie-cutter motel.

I've stayed here many times over the years and can always count on a clean, comfortable stay right across from the locks. This stay didn't disappoint in this regard. My last visit was 9/25/2020 (one night) and I was surprised at the room rate of $144! While I didn't expect amenities like a pool or breakfast (due to Covid), etc., I also didn't expect to be charged a rate that would seem to include these amenities either. I want to support small, local owned businesses but this property is under new management and I suppose its time to shop around for a new place to stay when in the area.

This is the 2nd stay here, 1st was 12 yrs ago.
My son 15, daughter 10 and I stayed here for the 2nd part of our vacation. My son requested this motel because he remembered staying here when he was 4.
The lady at the check in desk was so nice & helpful! We stayed in room 101, which was recently refurbished. The room was clean and comfortable. The room looked very nice with faux brick half walls, wood looking floors, comfortable & stylish bed coverings and nice decor. I did not get photos.
Love the location! Locks are right across the street, shops & restaurants are steps from your door.
There is a traditional motel and then many cabin type structures. We stayed in a “cabin”. Parking is right outside the door, which is a very nice feature, just wish the spaces were just a bit bigger. We brought bicycles. There is not a designated bike spot, so parking them in our parking space made it tight.
There is no pool but the lady in the office told us about Sherman Park which was a 10 minute drive but was well worth it! Playgrounds, picnic areas and a large beach. The best part tho is the water! You can walk out a LONG WAY with water only getting about waist high. Ships on their way to/ from the locks go right by here, so you can watch them.
Due to Covid, the observation deck at the Locks is closed. Still so nice to sit on benches or grass to watch ships.
I will definitely stay at Lockview again. Trying to convince hubby to come up for a fall weekend!

Just spent 4 nights at the Lockview. Under previous management, it was a good motel. The standards have lowered. . The rooms were not thoroughly cleaned: obvious not vacuumed carpeting, bathroom floor was filthy. The cleaning people wore their street clothes to clean the rooms, they did not wear face masks or gloves, they changed the sheets, but not the blankets or comforters. I did not see or hear a vacuum being used, either. The first night I was there, I emailed corporate about how filthy the common carpeted areas were upstairs...no response. Yes, I competed disinfected the room upon arrival, wiping everything down and using spray disinfectant.

We have stayed @ Lockview motel across from Soo Locks with family & friends for over 50 years as we came from the area years ago. However staying in a newly "renovated cabin" by the ADOBA owners they became a nightmare.
The 2 seat of the chair is only about 13" off the floor. The toilet was even lower with the wall about 2' in front of you. My knees were in my chest. The very worst experience.
Thanks for having a door handle so close so i could pull myself up.
The only soap is about 1 1/4" x 1/4" in size.
There was 4 of us with 2 bath towels, 1 wash cloth & 1 hand towel after 1-day prepay and being told the room was ready on arrival.
Our friends in the other 2 cabins had exactly the same feelings.
The beds were fine & the restaurant dinner was good. As for the breakfast Farmers omelet, the eggs were runny and the potatoes, ham & cheeze were burnt.
Not edible.
The staff was friendly.

We stayed here for two nights. The room was sort of clean but it didn't look like it had been vacuumed. The walls are very thin and the windows are old so you hear everything from outside and adjoining rooms. The shower drain was so slow you were standing in bath water by the end of the shower. They advertise continental breakfast but it is only during "season". I tried a cup of coffee from the machine in the lobby and it had chunks in it. I would not recommend staying here.

Our first clue should've been the ugly orange Adoba sign in place of the iconic Lockview Hotel sign ! We had always wanted to stay at this charming hotel directly across fromt the Soo Locks, I assume the place has been sold in the last few years. The office wasn't open so we did a self check-in, upon arrival to the first room my husband went to use the bathroom and the toilet had poop all over the bottom of the seat and the back of the bowl, the bowl was black. I called the number for contact and she said she'd meet me in about 15 minutes to switch me to another room, she basically threw me the keys to the new room and drove off. We go into the 2nd room and the mirror in the bathroom is filithy like it had never been wiped down, spots all over it from dirty water splash, there is conditioner, but no shampoo, crumbs on the floor, a coffee maker with no coffee, only one disposable coffee cup and the best surprise was no TV, there's a cable hook up so my husband went to our first room and brought that TV to our room ,he hooks it up but there is only one channel. We felt very uncomfortable being this is the first place we have stayed since COVID hit and it didn't appear to be sanitized as you would expect everything to be clean and nice. We don't mind an older hotel if it's clean, but this was obvious it wasn't. For the price of $80 we would have gladly paid the extra $20 to stay at one of the hotel chains in town.

I love me a good motel. This is not one of them. Flipping a motel room requires more then changing the sheets and stocking the coffee bar. The bathroom floor, tub and shower walls were covered in hair and had not been cleaned in some time. The bath towels are literally the size of a hand towel and feels like 60 grit sandpaper. For $150 a night, I should receive a clean (non-pubic hair) room and a full soft towel. Seems simple really 🤷🏼♀️

Not impressed at all. Check in was efficient. We stayed 2 nights, no daily service, we had to go get fresh towels, bed wasn't made, we even hung our "make up room tag on the door when we left, to find it still hanging there when we returned at night. When we arrived it looked like the floor had not been vacuumed, candy wrappers on the floor. The location made it super convenient to walk across the street to watch the boats go through the locks, and walking down town. Location was the only positive.

I have been traveling from Maine to Wisconsin and back each summer for a family gathering, and did so again this summer. I stayed in many places driving to and from. All of them were very good to excellent...except this one. I had read good reviews, but was profoundly disappointed. It was the worst welcome I have received in years; the clerk made me feel like I was a bother as she struggled with a bad computer. Much of the paint had peeled off my front door. It was billed as being in the “cottage” section. It wasn’t a cottage. It had a cute roofline, but all the rooms run together, and are not well insulated for sound. My room was full of small, flying insects, and perhaps because it was a long way from the office, the Wi-Fi was very weak. The TV had an awful, snowy picture. The room was far smaller than a cheaper Canadian drive-up motel I had stayed in the night before. Furniture was chipped and in bad condition. Not a lot of lobby room for breakfast, but it wasn’t bad. The location is great, near lots of shops and places to eat, and the locks. If not for that, I would give one circle.
If you look at my other reviews, I am pretty positive and easy to please. This motel did not come close. I was very dissatisfied.
