The hotel's prime location is a hit among guests for its close proximity to local attractions and serene lakefront views.

We absolutely loved our stay, I wish our room had a better view of the lake, but it was still plenty large enough for our family of four and had great views of the sunrise. We stayed in the Huron building off to the side. The room was decorated very nicely and was very clean. My son said the pull out couch was comfortable as well. The staff was lovely and the breakfast each morning was very good.
My husband and I were a little let down that the gym was not open, part of the reason we booked was because the gym access. We were also a bit unsure of the refrigerator in the room. There was no dial to change the temperature setting, and I just felt that it didn't feel quite cold enough to keep food fresh so unfortunately any leftovers just got tossed out of caution. I still feel the stay deserved 5 “stars” though!
The indoor pool was wonderful and the hot tub felt great after a full day in the chilly weather!
The breakfast hours were very reasonable, and I liked that they had someone driving around a golf cart in the morning to take you up to breakfast, he was so nice and personable. We really did have a lovely time And we will absolutely book at this hotel again when we come back next year!

I have a dry sense of humor. Finally the sins of my past caught up to me when checking in. When I told Grant at the front desk I was checking in, he asked for my name. He looked at his computer and asked, "Are you sure it wasn't at another location?" After traveling over 400 miles, not what I wanted to hear and then Grant started to laugh. I must have been his biggest "catch of the day"! :) I really had a good laugh knowing the joke was on me. So for any future travelers, be prepared with a good come back if you are his next victim. The property is clean, staff friendly and being next to the lake just added to the experience. Highly recommend this property.

The only thing you can see from the road is the front lobby of the hotel. Once driving around the corner down to the rooms, WOW! This hotel is on about 11 acres right on Lake Huron. The grounds are immaculate and there are several buildings that house the hotel rooms. This is not one of the usual hotels with a lobby and all of the rooms stacked on top of each other. We stayed 3 nights and it was more like being at home than at a hotel. Our room was the cleanest hotel room I've ever stayed in. We ate breakfast at the hotel every morning. The ladies running the breakfast area did a GREAT job. The area was always clean, the food was always full and they worked very hard to make our breakfast the best meal of the day! We stayed from Memorial Day through Thursday morning. I booked the hotel the night before we arrived. All of the other hotels in the area were at least $100 more a night. I kept thinking the rate was a mistake but it wasn't! I would drive the 6 hours again just to stay at this hotel. Just a couple of notes for planning. Some of the buildings do not have elevators but the staff will work with you to get a room with no steps if you so desire. The breakfast is in the front lobby and there is a walk outside to get to it but the hotel has a covered golf cart that drives around the property during the whole time the breakfast is served. The golf cart driver will pick you up at your room and take you to breakfast and return you to your room when you are done.

We were impressed by this resort hotel! From the initial greeting to our departure we were met by welcoming and friendly staff. Our room had a partial lake view and it was an accurate description. Small but roomy balcony, large tv, refrigerator, nice bathroom setup and ice available in each building. Laundry was located in a nearby building and breakfast was offered in the main area. Food was plentiful. We could not ask for more except we wished we had more time to stay here. With so many attractions in the UP, this is a great location to stay while taking day trips throughout! I liked the shuttle offering to Mackinac Island. We did not use it this time but it is a great way to go to the island and leave your vehicle at the hotel. We will return another time! Thank you!

Right next to Lake Huron where you can see otters swimming and if you're lucky at night the Northern Lights. We stayed in a 2 bedroom and 2 bath suite right by the lake. Free breakfast every day and Syd will give you a ride in a large golf cart since this Best Western is made up of several buildings that may be a few minutes walk to breakfast area. Tickets are sold for the ferry to Mackinac Island and a shuttle will pick you up and take you back to your hotel. A bonfire is made for hotel guest and a supply of marshmellows, chocolate and graham crackers for smores. Beware the mosquitoes and other bugs come out at night, so bug repellent is needed. We had brought our bug net jacket to keep them from biting us. We will definitely stay here again with their friendly staff which answered a few questions and gave us ideas as to where to go during our stay.

Historically I have stayed at very few Best Western properties. After a 4 night stay here I will reconsider that for future trips. Our stay at this property was very nice.
The were only two items at this resort which wasn't ideal was the parking. Parking in 2 of the lots was very tight and were one way in and out same way style lot. You had to get used to backing into spots. If everyone had VW Bugs maybe it would be fine but that is not the case! The other could be my lack of looking as well but the beach area was not sand, but was a rocky type beach. Nice to sit at still but just wasn't expecting rocky.
Our room was a Lakeview double queen and it was fantastic. Room was large, had a couple tables/chairs, balcony with chairs with a decent lake view, fridge and microwave. Beds were comfy.
The amenities were plentiful and operated well. Outdoor and indoor pool and hot tubs both were maintained and nice areas to sit around the pool. There was a nightly campfire with plenty of chairs down by Lake. There is also a large grass area and playground for kids.
Breakfast every morning was decent. Many of same items found at any hotel breakfast but also had some extras like bacon and plenty of fresh fruit and baked items.
Location was quiet but was within feasible walking distance of a few restaurants and the dock for ferries over to Mackinac.
Would easily stay at this property again and now will consider other Best Western's on future trips.

This review is more of a cautionary tale of what to be aware of when booking this hotel. I did not get the chance to stay here because of a "bait and switch." On 1/27/2024 I reserved a three-queen room for the government rate listed on their (Best Western) website. It was for four nights in July 2024. I received a phone call on 4/27/24 from Angel, who is the manager, stating that they were closed when I made the reservation (again on the Best Western website which is national or should I say, international) and a lot of rooms were booked at the government rate and they would not be able to honor the rate that was clearly listed as such and as being available. The voicemail went on to say that they could switch me to another option. I took this as a smaller, less desirable room because the government rate was not available for the higher end rooms, according to Angel. She asked me to contact her which I tried on two occasions through Susan, a representative of Best Western Customer Relations. Both times, Angel was not available. The first time I called (4/27), I was told by the rep, who contacted the front desk that Angel was not available and would contact me within an hour. That did not happen. I waited 48 hours before I returned the call and spoke to Susan again, and she tried for a second time to talk to Angel, but she was not on duty yet at 11am on 4/29. I decided at that point to just cancel my reservation because I had invested to much of my time for a deceptive business practice, and I was not contacted in a timely manner, the first being waiting three months to contact me and the other being not contacting me at all when I, through customer relations, left a message to contact me. Also, by informing me three months later, any chance of changing my reservation to another accommodation with a desirable rate was extinguished. I will also mention that this was supposed to be our last trip, as a family, before my daughter left for college overseas. I expressed my disappointment with Susan, who was apologetic, but offered nothing for my troubles but a cancelation. Goodbye Best Western, you lost a Diamond Select member with your deception and your inability to try and make it right.

There's a reason this hotel is No. 1 in St. Ignace. Because there are a lot of really crappy hotels in St. Ignace for those of us who don't want to spend $500+ a night to stay on Mackinac Island. Our room, reserved six months earlier, was on the third floor of the Ontario building, with a spectacular view of Mackinac Island. The room was large, spotlessly clean. I thought it would have been nice to have a couch in a king room, but we had a table and two comfy chairs. The bed was very comfortable. The only hitch was getting housekeeping. We asked for it the first night, didn't get it. We asked for it the second night, and didn't get it until almost dinnertime. It's quite a haul from the Ontario building back up the hill to a very good free breakfast, but there's an eight person golf cart to take you up there. We didn't use the indoor pool in the checkout building with the breakfast area. We DID use the really nice outdoor pool every day. At $300+ a night this place might seem like highway robbery, but compared to other hotels in this town and on the island, I think it's a bargain.

I’m writing this review to let potential guests know that there is a 20 room old motel style building still being used in addition to the large complex you see in the pictures. We were given rooms in this building and initially I felt we were getting the short end of the stick. I actually ended up feeling that we might have been the lucky few as this building is closest to the water, parking is right outside your door and it’s incredibly quiet for sleeping. The soundproofing is excellent as you hear nothing from the rooms around you. Two chairs are outside each room for enjoying the lake views and you are just a few steps from the beach. I didn’t see the rooms in the newer buildings so I can’t compare. Of course, our rooms were older so might not have been as nice, but we ended up being very happy getting “stuck” in the “motel”.

My husband and I visited the Upper Peninsula for our anniversary. We booked the Best Western Harbour Pointe from recommendations through some friends of ours that have stayed there. I reserved a king suite, lake view room which was in the Superior building. Upon check-in, we were greeted by very friendly staff who were helpful with all of our questions about the area and the ferry boats to Mackinac Island. Our room was very nicely appointed, clean, and well-kept. We loved our balcony with a view of Lake Huron. The grounds of the hotel are impeccably groomed. The staff here takes great pride in their work. This Best Western has a wonderful breakfast area with some outdoor seating. The breakfast was delicious. We found that since a lot of tour busses book this hotel and they get to breakfast early, that the best time for us to go to breakfast was around 9:00 a.m. They even have a shuttle cart to pick you up at your building to bring you to the breakfast building if needed. It was very relaxing to walk the grounds in the evening and go down by the lake. Definitely will book the Best Western Harbour Pointe again when visiting the area.

There are hot breakfast sandwiches, but not the pre-covid style of hot breakfast. It is more like an expanded continental style breakfast. Let's hope we return to normal quickly.
