Detailed Reviews

I came into town due to adverse weather in the area and stayed four nights.
The entire staff ensured that I enjoyed a wonderful visit over the holidays. I was concerned about being stranded alone in the event of power and phone/internet outages, and was so glad of the comfort and cleanliness. The room was immaculate and convenient service from housekeeping.
There was the option of towel/linen exchange outside your door along with full housekeeping service any days requested.
The St Ignace Budget Host definitely has the BEST breakfast available in town, with FOUR hot options available, fresh waffles, and a variety of cereals, oatmeal, bagels, yogurt, juices and so on.
There's a large pool area with hot tub, an extensive game room and exercise facility, too.
I received a discounted veterans rate, which was well appreciated! Thank you for a wonderful mini vacation in town and special kudos to Justen & Bryce ... everything was well maintained and despite the heavy snow, they kept the drives pristine. Manager Kari was so helpful as well as the extended family atmosphere.
Highly recommended as an outstanding place to stay, year around. Everything in town is within walking distance, too!

This hotel was exactly what it says it is…conveniently located, clean, and for us it was budget friendly, as we could all stay in one room but still have some space. We got a 3 room suite for our family of 4. The room was immaculately clean. Beds were comfortable. It was quiet, A/C worked great, and the living room area was spacious. My older son slept on the couch, not pulled out, and was comfortable. I did not use the exercise room but did pop in for water several times and it was nice and cool…some hotels keep their exercise rooms far too warm but not here. Breakfast was adequate…it was what I expected. We were all able to find something. They had hard boiled eggs in the fridge along with mini yogurts, and then your standard continental breakfast items (cereal, bagels, make your own waffles, and fruit one of the two mornings we stayed). Staff we interacted with (front desk) was adequate as well…did their jobs, no more, and no less. Checked us in and offered no additional info other than telling us where our room was at, but anytime we had a question, they answered it (i.e. are ferry tickets available there, what time does breakfast end). This was fine with us. We wanted clean (it was SO clean), convenient, quiet, and breakfast included. This place delivered and we would stay here again.

I’m definitely down to give this hotel five stars. I’ve stayed a lot of places across this country, Mexico and Canada, and this is one of my favorite hotels. We got a room with a jacuzzi and it’s one the cleanest rooms I’ve ever stayed in. The hotel has an awesome pool AND hot tub.. and if you travel much, you know that hot tubs are hard to find since Covid started. The front desk attendant, Jennifer, is AMAZING. She totally hooked us up. She’s been treating us like we’re the only guests in the hotel. There’s also a pretty sick game room that has a couple of pinball machines, a racing game, air hockey, Pac-Man and a few others. All of the games and vending machines work perfectly… which is also hard to find. I would absolutely recommend this hotel.
I’d wait to review the hotel until after breakfast in the morning, but I’m sure it won’t change my mind.
Side note: the Driftwood Motel Restaurant and Sports Bar is nearby and has fantastic service and food.

Went to Budget Host In St. Ignace like we have for the last 4 years for our Tractor Crossing except for last year it was cancelled. The Hot tub was closed, the swimming pool was chemically over dosed and had a strong smell and hard to get out of our suits even though we soaked them. The key card to get into the building wouldn't work, and we got a different room with no balcony even though we reserved the room a year in advance. The bed was terrible and you couldn't sleep on it. Talked to the manager (Linda) to see what could be done or any discounts given since so many things didn't work and were broke and we couldn't get our room moved to the one we had reserved a year in advance and she would do nothing or accommodate us or apologize for all the problems we had encountered while we were there.
She was very smart and rude talking to me and lacked people skills. They have a new owner that is foreign and I even talked to him but he did not offer any help or accommodations either. This place has went down hill with new ownership and would not recommend anybody staying there.

This place was very nice and accommodating. I called the night before to request a room with walking shower as I’m handicapped and they were able to help me! The gentleman who I spoke with was owner and he was very nice, friendly and full of information about restaurants and things to do! The room was quiet, nice , clean and inviting. I would recommend this place!

This place could make a better effort. It's a bit better than basic. Let's start at the front desk.....folks working there could be a little more helpful and not make it seem like when you approach them, its a burden. Also, the room had a Murphy bed, which we did not like. Proper beds please! Breakfast was ok, but could some healthier options not be added and could the coffee not be of better quality? Lastly, the pool was a bit depressing looking and the amount of chlorine in it was probably violating chemical codes.

My friend and I stayed at this property for 1 night while visiting the area. We got lost while hiking prior to arrival so ended up checking in very late. Kevin and Sherri couldn't have been nicer. We ended up needing some forks to eat our dinner since we arrived so late and they gladly provided us with some. The room was clean spacious and quiet. I definitely recommend if you are visiting the area

I don’t ever write reviews, but I simply had to after staying here. First, the lady checking me in was amazing, she showed me different options for suites that would be best for my family. She was incredibly sweet and considerate. The rooms here are unlike any hotel I’ve stayed at. I’ve been to the “executive suites” before that other hotels have offered and even those aren’t as good as this place. It’s just so funny that we happened upon this place and seeing the modest “Budget” name, it totally blew my expectations away. We decided on a 2 bedroom suite (pretty much a condo), the “room” had two queen beds plus a pull out sofa, the pillows and beds are extremely comfortable (I have a bad back, so this is important!) a large double vanity and a separate bathroom with a very large tub/shower. I’m without words, but this is simply the best hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Everything from top to bottom gets 5 stars. This place deserves to be fully booked every night, or maybe you and I have just stumbled upon the best kept secret of the Mackinac Bridge area.

The room was very comfortable and nicely done. We liked that we had a door into the hall and also one outside so we could easily access our car. Management was very nice and helpful. There is a partial water view if on the front side of the building, and very convenient to the ferry to Mackinac Island.
While the "breadfast" bar looks nothing like the picture here, if you want coffee, cereal, waffles or bagels, you will be in good shape.

Small tour company using this hotel for the first time. My guests key cards would demagnetize, and when asking the front desk to reissue keys the evening staff would tell me there was nothing wrong with the keys...yet, our keys would not open the doors. The rooms were clean and well supplied, and the towels were replaced when we asked, which is normal during COVID. The hotel was quiet and there were many patrons there, which was great. The Grab and Go Breakfast was not memorable, and some attention to providing a better muffin would be appreciated by guests...maybe something baked locally.

Not sure I think they have a website
We stayed last week and the pool was open. Breakfast was a preordered brown bag with a muffin, fruit and juice.
But with covid precautions constantly changing, maybe give them a call.
We had a great stay and felt very safe!
Yes we do accept pets there is a $10.00 plus tax fee.
As of our stay last November, yes. I'd call and double check. Nice place to stay.
When a guest with a pet checks out, each room is totally stripped down, including shower curtains and curtains and cleaned thoroughly. That being said, call us directly when you're ready to make your reservation and tell the Reservation Desk about the allergy issue and we can make sure that a pet does not stay in your specific room for weeks in advance. We are always willing to work with guests in making the best stay possible. Jack
