This property has been recently redone, but the color scheme was brown – kind of dark and depressing. But, it was absolutely spotless and quite comfortable for a couple of nights. Our room was large and we appreciated the mini-fridge. The woman at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. There was a pre-Covid kind of buffet breakfast with eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, breads, etc. – and waffles made to order – quite nice. It was a bit out of town, so not walking distance to anything, but just a short drive to restaurants and shops. We’d certainly return.
We travel a lot. I have never been in a hotel that is so well maintained and clean. I never saw anything on the floor or paint chipped or scuff marks on the wall or a dirty elevator. In fact there are pictures painted onto the elevator doors. We stayed 2 nights. Very quiet and clean. Great breakfast. It was just a really nice stay. One of the things that is very important to me is cleanliness. I remember reading some of the reviews and it was mentioned how clean the hotel was. It truly is. Very well maintained. The pride really shines through. We would definitely stay here again.
We drove up to this hotel and did not think we would be leaving a 5 star review. However this place was so clean and well cared for that we have to let you know you will be happy you stayed here. The breakfast is great (best waffles ever!!) and the housekeeping is very very good. It is not a fancy place, but the rooms and the bathrooms are very clean. The bed is comfy, and there is a nice sized fridge in the room (with a separate freezer) which really was great for storing and preparing our picnic lunches for all the amazing trails in the Pictured Rocks park. This location is great too - easy to get to the park and the trails, and also not far from Munising where you can get groceries and where the restaurants are located. A bonus is the hot tub (again very clean) which is a great way to end a day of hiking.…
We arrived before the check-in time -- and the gal reluctantly did check us in as our room was ready. (Check-in was 4 pm, but we were going on a 3 pm boat cruise and really didn't want luggage sitting in the car during the 2+ hr cruise.) The room was fine. Plenty of places to plug in our electronics. Clean. Love that there was a decent size small frig with a separate small freezer on top! Great for re-freezing those ice blocks for our next day's travel. We put the air con on, but after about 10 pm it didn't seem to run again ... so we ended up opening the window to let in some fresh air and have some air movement. We kept dropping the temp on the unit, but it just did not kick back in. Oh well! The bed was REALLY comfortable and we both slept well. The shampoo/body wash combo which comes out of the dispenser as foam ... was weird. It really didn't lather and neither of us had any idea how much we needed to use. Suspect we both overused as we were both hoping to be clean. Bfast ... the management doesn't want food taken out of the dining area (so no eating in one's room). On the one hand I do commend them for this. It reduces food waste and certainly saves lots of crumbs and probably ants and other insects. On the other hand with rising Covid numbers and some of us being high risk, eating in the dining area was a high risk. We observed that they are using something in each room -- before guests arrive -- to have the room safe. Great! And yet ... staff are not wearing masks so they may well be continuing to spread the virus even after going to all the work of sanitizing. To return to b'fast ... the staff makes waffles, if you want one. This improves efficiency and no doubt is much safer than people hanging around and everyone handling the waffle irons. There is REAL silverware and REAL plates --- great for the environment! Cereal bowls and coffee cups are both styrofoam, however.…
We always stayed in little motels where you park right outside your door when I was a kid, so there was a lot of nostalgia involved in choosing this motel, but grown up me is a lot more fussy. I was very pleasantly surprised to find a very clean comfy room and an amazing view of Lake Superior!
