We booked a Delux chalet but even the bare necessities, like mugs and teaspoons were missing. TV was apparently stolen and only the wires were hanging from the wall. The chalet was dusty and spiderwebs in the bedrooms. Swimming pool was green! We were really disappointed and left one night earlier. We were promised a refund but one month later and several SMS' we haven't received anything yet. The surroundings are beautiful and the resort has a lot of potential under right ownership and management. At this stage I wouldn't recommend it!

We occasionally stopover at the Cradle of Life for breakfast on our way to the Kruger. Over the years this spot has lost its sparkle which has been a little disappointing for us as a family. The scenery from the breakfast deck is great and this is about the only good feature that the place has to offer. We found that the service has also slipped as we waited forever for our food to arrive. The waiters are generally more interested in talking amongst themselves or catching up on their cellphones than to attend to restaurant patrons. In my opinion I would recommend that you drive further on to Barberton as there are better eating spots available in this historic town.

The accommodation is very nice and the manager assists where needed. The restaurant on the other hand needs a bit of guidance as most of the food on the menu was not available - which is probably understandable seeing as it was very quite / empty on our stay there earlier this year. The staff is very friendly!
I have since our stay read that new management has been placed at the venue thus I hope they will uplift the place a bit.
I think with some advertisement, the place will be booming as the accommodation is very comfortable with nice views!
The lion tour was very nice although I feel that the guide can give through a bit more information on some of the animals.
All round a good experience.

Sadly arrived to an extremely dirty and run down what they call a "Luxury Chalet". Pictures of the internet are⁹ completely different to what is offered. Toilet with no seat in one bathroom, 2nd bathroom with no lid of the toilet cistern, litter all around the outside of the chalet. Furniture dirty, oil/grease cooking stains on the walls, no outside lights working and to top it off maggots in the microwave. Owner not interested in our complaint at all passed it all onto her manager Innocent who is completely over worked. The cost of a night is R1800.00 per chalet per night which is priced high for what is offered.

We booked a 5 nights stay December 2021. We booked a luxury chalet because it has to have a tv but to our surprise the tv wasn't working and the remote was missing. We requested a remote which we got on our last day. There's no room service and the place is not neat. The manager TryMore is not nice and he's a liar. The service we got there didn't meet the value of our money. Everything in pictures is a lie except the beautiful chalets. No animals, pools are dirty.

I went to Cradle Of Life on the 11th of January 2018.My family and I made a booking to go on a Game drive which was scheduled for 2pm as this was the feeding time for the wild animals. We were there much earlier before the game drive could commence. We decided to check out the accommodations that they offer. The manager was very kind enough to allow us to see all 3 of the accommodations ranging from various prices as well as a guided price fro seasonal & non-seasonal periods. I was totally amazed by the tranquillity and the size of each different accommodation. The prices were very much reasonable and really stood out from other self catering accommodations. It looked more like a hotel than a self catering accommodation. The rooms were spacious as well as the lounge and fully equipped kitchen except for the standard room which did not have a stove but this will be offered on request.
After seeing all the accommodations I was really impressed and decided that on my next vacation I will definitely make bookings for my next stay there.
We then went on a game drive which lasts for +-1 hour 30 minutes. Our tour guide Sizwe was very much informative about the different animals that lived in the game park. During the feeding of the wild animals, we go to see Lions including The White Lions, cheetahs , 2 different types of Tigers, including other wild animals.
It was definitely an experience for the whole family. I have read other reviews posted here pertaining to Cradle of Life...I must say that I am deeply disappointed by the sad comments they gave. I feel that a first hand experience of little mishaps could have been rectified if this was brought to the attention of management initially. I did purchase 3 different meals before leaving, it was understandable about waiting for your meals but then again one must take into consideration that all meals are prepared fresh and well worth the wait as the meals we purchased well I could rate that as 9/10 for taste. It is definitely a place for family to go to for relaxation and a wild experience as well.

We booked a tour at 2pm. Many animals were no longer there, as compared to a tour we did 5 years ago. One Lion was so thin..it was sad to see.
We were hoping to see the owls, but they were also gone. The nursery no longer exists.
After the tour we were looking forward to a cool drink... after walking all the way to the restaurant (we had a lady on crutches with us) we were eventually told (after searching for someone) that they were closed.
It is very sad to see the decline.

We stayed over for one night recently, and the staff were very accommodating to let us check in after 19h00. The chalets are nice, covered parking, sound of frogs in the dam at night, peaceful relatively quiet. Major downside is the way the place is kept: dirty linen, rat droppings in the kitchen cupboards, dirty cutlery and crockery, broken doors and drawers, peeling paint. It was really disappointing, especially considering the place' s potential.

My wife and I had breakfast at the Restaurant on a wednesday morning. There was only 3 tables to attend to, yet the food took over 45 minutes.

Food was great and fresh, and good value for money, waiting staff is the problem here.
