Situated on the outskirts of Graskop and overlooking the beautiful Mpumalanga escarpment you will find our Guest farm. The name ZUR ALTEN MINE is German and means "to the old mine". In the old days there was a private gold mine on this 10.5 Hectare property. Our guest farm is ideally situated to explore the Panorama Route with its spectacular view sites such as Gods Window, the Bourke's Luck Potholes and the Blyde River Canyon .
Excellent stay in this hotel. We had a lovely cabin with a fantastic wood burner and a self contained kitchen. Owners Rainer, Walli and dog Stinky were most welcoming. Everyday starts with a great breakfast with local cold cuts and cheeses. Rainer gave top tips of the area including activities and restaurants. The hotel has a great view of sunrise too.

Great location just outside of Graskop. Rainer made great recommendations for dinner and his homemade breakfast was fantastic, fresh bread, brownies and jelly. The houses are very cute and the location is nice and quiet.

We stayed in the budget cabin, it was clean and well organized. We loved the shelves and thoughtful touches to help with loadshedding. The kitchen is Safari tent style and is attached to the cabin. The kitchen has a powerful gas stove and microwave. Pots, pans, cutlery and crockery are all included. There is a nice picnic table to eat it. We highly recommend the breakfast offered as an extra to your stay.

We were here and stayed in the honeymoon chalet, a nice and quiet place and has beautiful surroundings. Rainer our host was very helpful and showed us where to go and gave us good tips, very friendly and we felt right at home!! We ordered breakfast and was optional and it was really good, the chalet itself was very clean and spacious!! We can recommend this place!! Greetings Justin and Esther!

My boyfriend and I are gratefule to Rainer and Walli for their hospitality. They are informative, kind, thought-of and very welcoming hosts. We stayed in the lodge accommodation and felt the warm love of a home vibe. We didnt need to ask for anything because everything was at our disposal. Extremly clean and comfortable. i cannot express how impressed we both are. The lodges are spaced out so was awesome not being near people to have our own space.

Absolutely super cabin on a private farm stay overlooking a lake - we were in the honeymoon cabin which was beautiful, very spacious and well equipped. Hosts were delightful as was breakfast. On the site itself there are various short trails which were nice for a little light exercise. The property is ideally suited at the bottom of the panorama route - Blyde River Canyon, Bourke’s Luck Potholes and all the various waterfalls and viewpoints are within very short distance (despite what your GPS might tell you). The host was able to help us understand the best route through the various sites and times for best photos, and recommended some lovely restaurants locally. The night sky here shows all the stars if you are lucky with a clear night - a highlight of our stay. Would highly recommend as a lovely base for the panorama route, and Graskop as a sweet and very safe little town.…

From Manyeleti Reserve we drove to Graskop, a beautiful drive through a lush green landscape, full of forests. From Graskop, its another 10 min drive to 'Zur alten Mine' which is on the road towards Pilgrim's Rest. Our chalet, the Honeymoon Chalet, had a lovely view over a pond full of fish and water lilies, with a little bench nearby for dreamers and poets who love to just sit and enjoy the beauty of nature1 The chalet itself was very cosy, comfortable and spotlessly clean. We were very happy to have an electric blanket as it was a very cold night. Breakfast at an extra charge is optional. The homemade bread and jams, made by the German owners, was well worth it. Unfortunately, we didn't get to meet them as they had just left for Germany. The location of the Guest Farm is ideal for visiting Pilgrim's Rest, God's Window and Graskop. We did this in the afternoon....had coffee and pancakes in Graskop and dinner at a really cosy restaurant at Pilgrim's Rest, the 'Vine Restaurant'. The following morning we drove to Blyde Canyon, the Three Rondavels and then on to Tzaneen. A one night stay was definitely not enough. Next time we will plan for more. Would have loved to have had more time to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the lovely gardens.…

Although we only stayed one night, we wish we could have stayed longer. Gorgeous, comfy cabins that are clean. Loved hearing the nature all day and night. Our cabin had a wonderful fireplace and heater in the bathroom which definitely came in handy. Short hikes around the property was a great stress reliever. This place is truly amazing. We were greeted and shown around then left to relax. We were given great recommendations on places to visit. These places ended up being the highlights of our trip! Honestly, 10/10. Thank you Zur Alten Mine! Hope to be back!
