We stayed in the tented camp for 3 nights after spending 2 nights at an NWR lodge inside the park. We loved our very spacious tent and the upscale feel of the room and common areas. We stayed busy while we were here. We did the sundowner the first night in the Onguma reserve. We got some awesome pictures of giraffe in the sun as it was going down before stopping for a snack and a drink while watching a beautiful sunset. The next morning we did a bush walk. A must do for sure! The guide gave us so much information about the plants and what the locals used them for. I asked the guide if there were any pluses to termite mounds and he talked for a half hour about all of the benefits of termite mounds, who knew? We love learning new things so this was just a fantastic excursion for us. We also did a morning game drive back in Etosha to give my husband a break from driving. There are at least 4 lodges in the Onguma reserve. We got to see the Bush Camp when we went for a massage and we asked if we could go over to the Fort and have a sundown drink to see that lodge. I would stay in any of them - really depends on your budget. The Bush Camp has a fence around part of it making it nice for families and the Fort is VERY upscale. The food was excellent. We had the Kingsclip, Lamb and Eland for our dinner. All were cooked to perfection. Breakfast included yogurt and pastries as well as a cooked to order breakfast. They were very flexible with the times due to activities offered. The service was 5 star. There weren't many staff there but they did everything they could to make your stay the best of the trip. I would definitely come to Onguma when we return for some really nice pampering at the end of our trip!…
Heaven on earth! From the moment we arrived we felt like we went straight to paradise. Tents are beautiful, location around the waterhole is stunning. Dinner and breakfast were amazing. We regretted to only have had a stopover night, next time we will plan for 3-4 days. They do great work in Onguma, had very interesting talks with the guide (Felix) - he knows a lot!
A beautiful property on the eastern fringes of Etosha, each of the luxuriously appointed ‘tents’ face a busy waterhole where animals arrive and depart frequently. The lodges common area had a small pool, ample chairs, and a great fire pit at night. The food was very good, and the service was top notch. They also had great wifi and plenty of hot water for the showers. We were there 3 nights, which was perfect
We spent 3 nights there but certainly could have spent more as it borders Etosha and had lovely well appointed rooms which each faced a lovely water hole where we saw leopard, giraffe, warthog etc. The rooms were spacious with a refrigerator as well as indoor and outdoor shower with bathtub complete with salts. The meals and staff were wonderful!! I would go back for sure.
We loved Onguma - supposed to stay at the Treetop Camp but moved here due to renovations - it was an amazing place. One of our favourite places in Namibia. Being in Etosha was very special and fun and it was wonderful to return to Onguma after a long game drive. Food was fantastic and the staff excellent. Highly recommended.
