After all the stresses and strains of the year 2020 with Covid and its related complications to travel my wife and I decided to break away for a few days within Namibia to celebrate my 60th birthday.

After being on the interned we decided on Mushara Lodge 8 km from the Namutoni, Etosha, gate. The booking was handled cordially and response was without much delay and ado....... Handled profesionaly to say the least

On arrival we were met by an extremely friendly and competent Sakkie, who turned out later to be the Manager. Althoug it was quite early our rooms were ready on arrival and we were assisted with our luggage to our rooms from the parking area. Check in also was without any hassle whatsoever and from arrival to being settled in could not have been much more than ten minutes.

The rooms are modern, spacious, a very nice shower and all and more ammenities on hand. Beds were very confortable and A/C working well, which, for 40 degrees and coming from the Coast is a rather important feature. Double handbasins ALWAYS for a couple is a plus point for that early morning "clean up/shower and shave rush" and avoids early morning arguments ! All in all super room.

The lodge itself is in a very pleasant surrounding with a very nice pool on a well kept lawn and gardens. The reception area and lounge area is exceptionally stylishly furnished and really confortable to sit and relax. The bar area is nice and the wine selection very good ! Bar/Wine price we found very reasonable even for good imported wines.

It has to be mentioned that the food, for a locally trained chef, was exceptional and food quality really good. The dinner settings were rather romantic at candlelight outside under the trees.Honestly , I dont think I have eaten chicken breast for the last twenty years as I normally decline due to it being dry. We were offered stuffed chicken breast one even and I negatively agreed ( my wife smiled) and I was so pleasantly surprised............ Food quality overall at the lodge very good !

A very special point that needs mentioning is the staff who are a few cuts above a rest of any of the local staff we have experienced at any lodge in our country. Bernadette is simply a gem of a person and stands out althouth the others are also good. I challenge any Hotel school trained people to give them a go.......! Same goes for Sakkie who was always ready with any small detail to accomodate us.

Having been in bussiness for many years and beleiving in human assets the owner has certainly perfected the art of understand that "bussiness is a peoples game" !

More than well worth a visit !

If you plan on visiting Etosha National Park you could not find a more pleasant place to stay than here.

We were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived with a cool & r³efreshing welcome drink, we were escorted to our luxurious villa with a very comfortable bed, and had delicious dinners every night if our stay.

We opted to join Isabel for a game drive at 6 in the morning to give us a break from the driving. She was knowledgeable, witty & charming all at the same time. On our first drive we were fortunate to see both Loin & Leopard as well as elephants, zebra & giraffes not something we would have achieved on our own. We chose go go out with her on day 2 & that was even better than day 1 in what we saw.

The lodge has a lovely out door pool in safe & well kept grounds.

However what makes this place so special is the staff, everyone including shy chef at breakfast made our memories of Namibia something we will always treasure.

Lovely lodge with beautiful spacious chalets. Because there were very few guests the staff were somewhat demanding wanting our schedules on meal times etc. Food was nicely prepared and tasty.
The lounge was a beautiful place to relax and the pool was lovely for a swim after a hot game drive.
Game drives were excellent and we saw lots. The guides were very experienced.

The hotel lobby is absolutely beautiful, better than I was expecting being so close to Etosha National Park. The staff are friendly and the chef is very good. If you have dietary restrictions, they go out of their way to accommodate.
Each room is it's own little cabin and the bed is super comfy. If you are traveling with a friend and sharing a room, taking a shower is a little awkward considering there is no physical separation. You step out from the shower in full view of the room.

When we were there, they had a ton of stink bugs in the rooms and in the lobby. They were everywhere. While the staff did try to manage the situation, there were just too many of them for the staff to deal with. They really aren't a problem, more of a nuisance.
Each day they would provide our guide with a lunch, and it was delicious. They really did a great job. Like I said, good people, good food and excellent location.

Very professionally run place close to the Namutoni gate for Etosha. The individual lodges are tastefully decorated and comfortable, and the food served each evening in the main lodge was excellent. Kudos to the chef. Entire stay was very comfortable and all the staff one evening put on an African singing performance which was excellent.

This luxury resort was a pleasant surprise. It is not cheap but it is very good. Vegetarians have the option to choose between 5 main courses and as most only stay a night or two, maybe three, you won’t get to try all. You have to choose your menu beforehand (like before 18:00 or 18:30).

Breakfast in buffet form with many fruits, eggs and pancakes are made for you. Filter coffee available as usual, but also a machine for cappuccino or latte.

The rooms are superb, with very comfortable beds, a nice ensuite bathroom with shower. Everything as you want it.

The staff are friendly and up for a talk.

The lodge is 5 km from Namutoni Gate. Two cars before us when we arrived at 09:00 (no guarantees).

Inside the park you have to pay your permit before you exit. The nearest point from this gate is Namutoni Camp which is 12 kms into the park.

Mushara has left a lasting impression, what a stunning place. Everything about it is beautiful, so stylish and perfect. We traveled as two couples on honeymoon and staff really made it special. We had chalets 9 and 10, both were gorgeous and furnished exquisitely.
The pool is large and has proper sunbeds and drinks' service.
The first night we had a three course evening meal, which was delicious, the second night was a lavish BBQ with a extraordinary food and atmosphere. Our table was decorated with flowers and a red heart garland was hung next to us in the trees, so beautiful.
Juliane, the front of house manager, was an amazing host and even showed us the two private villas, which were out of this world.
All in all a perfect stay in a perfect place. A huge thank you to all the team for making our two nights very special.

Five star (hotel) rating for this lodge across the board! The bungalows are very nicely decorated, confortable beds and very spacious. Very cosy dining and lounge area (open fire) and library/reading corner (that’s were the wifi works best). Excellent dinner with a set menu that also catered for vegetarians (2 of us). Staff are very attentive and make sure your stay is unique, they even place hot water bottles in your bed if the temp gets a bit cold (2c when we stayed). We wished we could stay longer!

We enjoyed our two nights at the Mushara as a base for the eastern Etosha park. The staff were great, especially Helena. The highlight was the outdoor buffet/barbecue dinner or BOMA on one night. Also plenty of wildlife running around the lodge.
