One of the nicest lodges we stayed at. The staff were very welcoming and the facilities were good. Staff were particularly helpful when we were having some travel issues. Food was great too and it was very easy to arrange a drive into the park with one of their guides.
The Mushara Outpost, located an easy 15 minutes outside of the Von Lindequist Gate (east side gate of Etosha National Park), is a lovely place to spend a last night at the park. After 20 nights in Namibia, all across the country, this was our favorite accommodation for the quality of the room and amenities, the beautiful common areas, the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff and the effort they put into the food preparation. It wasn’t perfect, but we didn’t find anywhere else better. You can use Mushara Outpost as a base for exploring the eastern end of Etosha, but you would lose early morning and evening hour time having to enter the park at sunrise and leave at sunset. Although the accommodations in the park don’t begin to compare the quality of Mushara they do have great water hole action and allow you to explore the park earlier and later. That said, on our two mornings in the park we didn’t see much action until 11a.m. The individual permanent tent style chalets, generously spaced along a path through the bush, are large, tastefully decorated and well-appointed. The twin beds pushed together were super comfortable, a bit softer than most African beds dressed in quality linens and down comforters. The room includes a small writing desk and storage area with a coffee and tea service and a fridge with drinks. Unfortunately there is only one outlet for charging. The tent does, however, have screened windows that shut and a big bonus - air conditioning. The open concept bathroom has both an indoor and outdoor shower and a sink with counter space. There is also seating on the front porch overlooking the bush. The main lodge room is gigantic with numerous beautifully appointed comfortable lounging areas inside and out for guests to unwind. There is also a pool area and they build a fire in the evening. During Covid times meals are served on the patio. At the time of our visit there were only 4 tents occupied out of a capacity of 16. For dinner they offered a set menu. They will do substitutions if you prefer meat, fish or are vegetarian. The breakfast buffet and cooked to order eggs are also nicely done.…
This is the most perfect lodge you can get. It was the highlight of our trip. Being Namibian citizens and usually visiting exclusive lodges like the Mushara Outpost we made use of a special in 2021. It was the most wonderful experience. The lodge's architecture and setting is beautiful. Very luxurious and the service is excellent. We enjoyed every moment of it, the food and the beautiful luxury tents. Everything worked and the showers with a large window looking onto the bush and river was fantastic. The first night we were the only guests. The staff made great efforts to make our stay very comfortable. The Etosha Park is only 16km away.
The facility is stunning and incredibly luxurious. The service was impeccable and the food absolutely delicious. This blew other “5 star” accommodations that we stayed at near Windhoek out of the water - no comparison especially when considering how reasonable the prices are for this quality. The morning game drive was just astonishing. Very classy adherence to COVID-19 health restrictions meant that we felt safe and well cared for the entire time. Highly recommended!
It is amazing that Mushara Outpost has maintained the very high standards during this time of low tourism. The food is outstanding and there was a different menu daily during our (extended) 4 day stay . The chalets are top class and the main building has amazing furnishings with a very welcoming and comfortable ambiance. I would recommend the Outpost highly above most others in the whole of Namibia ! Honestly! We’ll be back ! The staff were great , no efforts spared !
