We stayed at Okaukuejo resort for one night and it was a mediocre experience. We then booked Etosha Mountain Lodge which is the sister lodge to Safarihoek, but on arrival we were told the Mountain lodge is shut because of Covid and got a free upgrade to Safarihoek lodge. This seemed a bit confusing and annoying at first, but in the end it was a more enjoyable experience than we could have hoped for. Our guide was the manager Jacky who gave 1000% trying to make our stay enjoyable. He personally took us on game drives because he was short staffed, assisted with weird photography requests and managed to locate several rhinos (one particular encounter was pretty intense!). The lodge itself is very well positioned, far away from busy roads and adjacent to Etosha itself. We got a beautiful wake-up call from a male lion on our last day there. The food was great although I was served dishes containing onions even though the chef and waiter knew I couldn't eat onions.

When you get to a lodge and you feel like you have arrived home, you know it is going to an awesome experience. This lodge is on the side of a mountain and you get the feeling you can see for 3 days, that is how far you can look. Great people, excellent food etc. Every bungalow has stunning views north to the Etosha national park. I have now run out of adjectives to describe this lodge. GREAT. GREAT. GREAT

This lodge sits on top of a hill and commands wonderful views over waterholes and expanses of land so you can watch all sorts of animals wandering by. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. Our room was beautifully appointed with views through 180 from a wide balcony. Our guide Cecil was very knowledgeable and found us white rhino that all but came up and nuzzled the vehicle, lioness and cubs plus elephants, giraffes and antelopes that seem to travel at will between this private reserve and Etosha national park. Highly recommend

We had to leave a previous lodge as it was unsuitable. We didn’t know what this lodge was like but any worry we had was dispelled immediately on arrival. The welcome song, cold towels and friendly welcome followed by being shown to large, cool, comfortable rooms made us feel very relaxed. The service was excellent as was the food. We enjoyed a morning game drive with Teek and saw a wide variety of game including elephants and rhino. So glad we came here and would heartily recommend it to others.

We stayed two nights at Etosha Heights before travelling into the main reserve. The Lodge actually borders the park but the fencing is broken in places so game appears to roam pretty freely. On arrival we caught the staff by surprise because the guard at the gate some distance away had failed to let them know we were coming. Anyway things were quickly sorted out and we were given the customary welcome drink and quick welcome song. The chalets were very large with usual ensuite facilities, mosquito nets etc and a large sun terrace for watching game. You could park outside so moving luggage was not an issue. It was very hot when we stayed and there is no aircon but a combination of open windows and ceiling fan created a reasonable through draft. There is a lovely bar, lounge and dining area when you can get wifi and with views down to the distant waterholes.. but bring your binoculars. There is a very nice swimming pool. We did a morning and evening game drive with Rio who was excellent and found plenty of game (including black rhino with baby) for us to photograph. Staff and food were generally excellent. Would happily stay here again.
