We spent 2 amazing nights at the lodge. Our accommodation was comfortable and quite unique. Our first evening a small pride of lions spent the entire night on the far side of the waterhole. Over the course of our two days and nights we saw giraffes, warthogs, elephant, zebra, wildebeest and during dinner the second night a leopard spent 15 minutes drinking at the waterhole. Also many birds including a European bee eater. Excellent food, including fresh baked bread every day. It was our favorite of all the fantastic lodges we visited.
Only 3 rooms at this secluded open air site in the trees. Bedroom open to the waterhole in front and meals taken with other guests around one table. Food and staff excellent. Watching the flying insects in the lights beguiling. Very romantic setting and accommodation highly unusual. Great sundowner trip finishing at the salt pan! Superb location.
With four rooms eleveated on stilts overlooking an active watering hole ( discretely lit at night) this is a very special place. The rooms look straight out onto the watering hole and many animals arrive to drink. It is not necessary to draw the frnt canpopy so you canliterllay lie in bed and watch!
The Onguma Game Estate is right next to the Namutoni Gate to Etosha and consists of a number of different accommodations ranging from camping right up to The Tree Lodge. Our travel agent had booked us into the Tree Lodge which consists of 4 (only) double bedroomed areas two on either side of a beautifully built and decorated central area with lounge, dining and kitchen areas and bar. All are elevated to first story level on wooden posts separating guests from the wildlife. The lodge overlooks a waterhole which is lit through the hours of darkness and attracts many animals and birds from the surrounding area. We were enchanted with the whole experience from the moment we arrived. The accommodation is simply stunning, and to sleep with only a mosquito net between you and the waterhole is magical. In fact, we debated about not sleeping at all but were tired from two long days travel and couldn’t stay awake in the very comfortable bed. We did stay awake long enough however to see many interesting birds, mongoose, hyena, porcupine, zebra, impala and a cheetah which came and stayed for the best part of an hour. Simply stunning. Dinner is taken around a communal table with the other guests, the food is cooked fresh next to the table and served by staff who quickly become friends. They are knowledgeable about the wildlife, and dinner was interrupted on both nights by the arrival of interesting animals. Onguma Tree Top Camp is simply one of the most magical places we have ever been and its proximity to Etosha, where we went for a day’s game drive, ensure that the whole experience became one of the best of our lives. Would we go back? OMG, yes please. Tomorrow?…
Sunblime - small camp overlooking floodlit waterhole, with leopard, hyena , jackals, elephant, giraffe, warthog etc etc. Small - hust took the seven in our group inits four rooms. Chef was wonderful - food wine and service magnificent. Great beer too! Rooms lovely - sleeping looking out over the waterhole. Ouside shower too! Couldnt be better. Good shop,
All I can say: whoever has the chance to spend a night in this unbelievably beautiful spot in Namibia should urgently do so! And I am not paid or hired by the management in saying so. Everything is just perfectly beautiful and never to be forgotten: food, hospitality, site, vicinity to the waterhole and its animal spectacles, every single detail in the decoration and concept of the place. We felt to be in a dream having come true. Thank you for everything and congratulations to the management and the highly committed and charming staff for their outstanding achievements.
With only four rooms this was idyllic. A perfect place for a honeymoon. Beautiful tented rooms with mosquito nets directly opposite a freqently visited private waterhole. We left the front open all night and had visits from various animals. The shower was fab with bathrobes and slippers. Breakfast was superb, we even had croissant and cakes so much choice, cooked and continental. Dinner was also excellent, two choices for main and the soups were delicious. Nothing too much trouble. Fantastic!!!!!
We stayed here our last two nights on safari - what an amazing experience from beginning to end. The lodge is very quiet with only four rooms connected by raised walkways. All the rooms open to a private balcony overlooking the watering hole. We were in Room 1 which was a great location. Our room was basic and comfortable with plenty of space for our bags and clothes. The outdoor shower was great - nothing like stepping out of the shower to seen lots of giraffes and warthogs at the watering hole! The staff led by Reinhold and Cacious (I hope I spelled his name correctly) were superb - friendly, welcoming, warm, and helpful. Jeremiah's meals were delicious; interesting combinations with lots of fresh ingredients. We had a great sundowner drive with David who found a female lion with her juvenile male cub for us to enjoy. They were happy where they were so we just stayed and watched them as long as we could. The first afternoon three jackals came down to the watering hole and one was lucky enough to get a bird in the watering hole. the second afternoon there were warthogs rolling in the mud while 16 giraffes enjoyed the water. Because we were in Room 1 the giraffes went right by our room as they left the watering hole. The walkway was high enough that I could look some of the giraffes straight in the eye! Our last night there I woke up about 1:00AM to the sound of footsteps - a giraffe had come to eat and was about 15 feet from our room. My sister and I stood and watched the giraffe eat for almost 20 minutes before it moved on - a truly magical and memorable experience. I loved staying here and will definitely stay here again - hopefully longer than two night next time.…
Onguma Tree Top is one of my favourite places for a safari get-away in Namibia. On my most recent visit I was also very interested to make use of the newly established massage service. Comes highly recommended! especially after long days on the road. A great escape and excellent opportunity for travelers to combine safari and wellness. The spa is definitely one more reason to return to Onguma again.
Wow, location, rooms, staff, food, view. All amazing. Just 4 rooms so it's an intimate camp. The rooms are on stilts and the front is open. Rooms 1 and 2 have the most privacy (we stayed in #2) and all rooms have a great view of the waterhole. We've seen a tower of 12 giraffes come to drink, warthogs, impala, kori bustard, jackal, hyena and more. It's very tranquil, you only hear birds sing, the wind rustle the leaves in the trees and the almost silent footsteps of the animals. Before dinner, a fire is lit on the deck and you can enjoy a sundowner. Dinner is cooked in an open kitchen and is delicious.
