We had a pet friendly room; which was right next door to a pet free room. The outside door didn't lock a people slammed in and out of it all night. There was a 2 inch gap under our room door that a rodent could squeeze under, not to mention bugs. The charge was obscene, even if it is Tourist season. The Good: No carpet on the floor, in-room coffee and clean. Evidence of some recent freshening up.
Our room was dirty. I found a large dust ball in the bathroom along with a dirty sink. I ran my fingers through the dust in the headboard. The carpeting next to the walls was filthy. The front desk clerk was not wearing a mask. There was a shield. however; she was out on the hallway without a mask. I also noticed several guests not wearing masks. Thank goodness I brought disinfectant wipes for the room. I won’t go back!!
My boyfriend, 2 friends, 3 dogs, and myself all stayed here 8/22- 8/23 technically speaking. The issue was, I had called Thursday the 20th to see if there were any rooms available 8/21-8/23. Tanner (front desk night shift) stated he had one that would accommodate us. I was psyched as it was such short notice. I booked it and gave my credit card. After driving 4 hours in the rain and the dark, we made it on 8/22 at 1am. My boyfriend and myself went to check inand it was Tanner. He stated that he remembered speaking with me the previous night but was confused bc he didn't see our names in the arrival list. Looking into it further he saw that another employee had wrote a note that "husband verbally aggressive on phone. Cancel room." I'm not married. And the last time I spoke with anyone was with Tanner. He looked further into it and saw that apparently the person that had the verbally aggressive husband has a last name that kind of resembled mine with a different first name. Apparently the other employee decided the spelling was incorrect in my booking and cancelled ours by accident. We requested to see if there was another room available. There wasn't. Not within a hour of driving anywhere. It was Marquette college weekend for the parents. We were finally able to work it out with Tanner to stay that night for a reduced rate. He really was amazing. He apologized profusely and all we kept saying was "it's not your fault. It's just tough with it being in the wee hours of the morning and everything else completely booked." We ended having to sleep in a Walmart parking lot. 4 adults and 3 dogs. Cramped vehicle. It was a toss and turn kind of night to say the least. Fast forward to 8/22 at 3pm. We called the hotel to double check and confirm our booking for the night and to see if the room was ready for us to check in. They confirmed and stated it was. We got there and the staff was friendly. When we entered the room we saw that Tanner had booked us a room with 2 double beds and a twin size bed. It was great. We all took turns showering as we had finished the morning hiking. After the first person showered, we noticed that there were only enough towels for 2 people. I went downstairs and requested more towels. I was given the response of "I think that side of the building is behind on towels." Mind you their checkout time is 1pm. And the hotel was fairly empty now that Marquette parents day was over. She said that she'd bring them up as soon as possible. 1, almost 2, hours later we got our towels. Not sure why it took so long and why they could grab towels from "the other side" that wasn't behind on laundry. The room in and of itself was great. Tanner was fantastic. Breakfast was fine with coffee and mini muffins in plastic wrappings. It wasn't fancy but it also wasn't a pile. It was a happy medium. If it wasn't for the delayed towels and room booking mess up this place would've received 5 stars. …
We stayed here as a booking.com choice. The information stated that there was a shuttle available to the casino. Upon checking in, we discovered that the information was incorrect and we had to use a local cab ($28 each way). Other than that, our stay was totally adequate.
Room was clean room and bed was comfortable. Convenient access to snowmobile trails from parking lot. Gas station right across the street. Plenty of restaurant options close by. The breakfast was descent - not great, not bad. The pool was cold. I would have really enjoyed a hot tub
