Our stay was excellent--the staff, rooms, exercise room and pool all first rate; and the location--right next to a walking path that fronts the lake--superb. We suggest, however, adding toast of some kind to the breakfast bar menu and we urge that Marriot improve their guests' experience by eliminating the ridiculous Muzak that pervades the lobby, the dining area and even the outdoor entrance to the building.
Stayed here 1 night for work. Room was very clean. Staff was nice. Building is new. Only thing I didn’t like was the breakfast. The “hot” food was cold. My favorite thing about the room was the TV setup. I would stay here again.
We did a quick two day getaway to Marquette and used this property as it's a Marriott property. It opened June 2021 and it's very nice. We liked how clean the property is, the bike/walk path to the downtown area is lit and the staff is very friendly.
The Fairfield Inn and Suites is situated on the Lake Superior lake front in Marquette near the city multi-use trail. It would be nice if the city allowed the small trees blocking the lake view to be cut down so there would be an unobstructed view of the lake from all the rooms on that side. It is a new property in an area that is being developed and is a very accessible location whether travelling for business or pleasure. The property is brand new and everything is sparkling clean and shiny. Despite it's location on a main artery and despite having a full house for the 3 nights we were there, the hotel was very quiet! The high ceilings in the rooms made the room seem very spacious and the walk-in shower in the bathroom was much appreciated with the location of the water controls on the side of the shower and the glass doors. There is a well-equipped room for exercise, but the pool/spa seems quite small for such a large hotel, although it was never crowded. The breakfast had a wide variety of choices one would expect at a Marriott property although if you went to breakfast toward the end, the attendants were having a hard time keeping up. The staff was well-trained, professional, and courteous. All in all, the Fairfield Inn and Suites is off to a fine start and I heartily recommend it.…
We stayed the night here in Marquette, and we enjoyed our stay. Our room was comfortable and clean, the gym had good amenities and the pool was also nice. It's close to downtown as well, overall a good place to sleep if you're in town.
This is a brand new hotel in a nice location. However, we had booked a walk-out patio room with a partial lake view for 4th of July weekend. When we arrived, we were told that the walk-out patio rooms had doors onto the patios that didn’t actually open far enough to walk through due to a construction error. Disappointing, but surely not their fault, we could deal with that. It would have been nice to have been contacted so that we knew in advance the room we had reserved was not as it was advertised. Further, instead of still being assigned to the room with the patio door facing the lake and bike path, even if the door didn’t open, we were put into a room on the 2nd floor with a view of the parking lot and busy street beyond. They had put others into the room we had reserved as per their explanation, since the doors didn’t open, “the system” saw all king rooms the same. We never complain at hotels and travel quite frequently. I have never written a negative review until now. When we expressed our concern and frustration knowing we paid more for the patio room and stating that we travel quite frequently, the male front desk clerk smirked at my husband and told him he had looked at our “account” and made it clear that since we didn’t stay with Marriott often, they were less than inclined to make it right. He later called me and condescendingly offered to give us a minor discount for that night. There were other minor issues, like breakfasts they clearly weren’t prepared for, no housekeeping for 3 straight nights, which I would happily have written off as a new property with some kinks to work out. After this experience, we will continue to stay with other hotels. We have stayed at a beautiful property down the road multiple times, but wanted to give this new property a try. We won’t be back. We’ll happily pay a bit more to stay down the road where they know how to treat their guests.…
Firstly, some good things. The room was large and beds were comfortable. The 2-queen suite had two televisions and a small sitting area. There was ample parking and a large seating area for breakfast. The hotel is located along a beautiful walking/biking path . FInally, the exercise facility was above average for a Fairfield Inn. Now for the not so good: (1) The staff had yet to figure out how to operate and stock breakfast properly. (2) Many of the kinks to basic hotel operation had yet to be worked out. Our keys didn’t work (3 different tries). There were sporadic fire alarm issues. And the staff seemed overwhelmed and undertrained. (3) The room cleaning and detailing process leaves MUCH to be desired. I have never stayed at a property with housekeeping this substandard, and it is my sincerest hope that the hotel addresses these issues sooner rather than later. (4) The pool and hot tub are comically small. I genuinely think these were simply put in the property so their listing could advertise they had a pool and hot tub. The nearby Hampton Inn has a much larger pool and hot tub, so if you are travelling with younger kids that like to swim you should book that property and not this Fairfield Inn. In the end, I unfortunately do not think I will return to this property. The nearby Hampton Inn (located .4 miles away) has a more experienced staff and really understands how to operate their property efficiently. I will probably be returning there for my next visit to Marquette…
Absolutely beautiful place to stay on Lake Superior. Too bad that they only opened 2 weeks ago and don’t seem prepared. Is there a manager? Because no one seems in charge. We stayed 2 nights and had no room clean up. Kept our towels hanging, so that was fine, but no trash removed, no new bathroom supplies. Doesn’t look like they even checked our room. Breakfast- I felt so sorry for the 2 ladies trying their best to feed a lot of people with not enough supplies. Today totally out of peanut butter pkts and syrup for the line of people waiting for waffles. I never did see sausage/bacon available and only eggs one day in the egg dish. Again they were kind and trying their best just seemed very mismanaged.
It's not every day that you get to be the 1st person to stay in a hotel room. The beauty in that is you know it's going to be clean, fresh and in this case, Wonderful!! The technology and attention to detail has me completely sold on returning to this hotel. I've stayed in atleast 8 different hotels in Marquette and this is the best. The staff was friendly and welcoming, the breakfast was plentiful, hot and fully restocked as my friend and I readied ourselves for an early morning hiking trip in Big Bay. Great Location on the bike trail, walking distance to the lower harbor, sunrise views of Lake Superior if you want to get up that early!!
