What a quaint hotel. Yes it's old and dated but that is the charm. The grounds are lovely and sitting on the balconies with the rocking chairs just delightful! 5 minute walk out of town. Hotel sits about a Bed was very comfortable and size of room was just fine. Air conditioning worked great. Yes it's a small shower but suitable. Lots of hot water and great shower spray. Breakfast was fine. Go before 9 because the food tends to run out. There was oatmeal, cold cereal, assortment of breads, fruit platter, hardboiled eggs, yogurt, and hot little omelets. Coffees, teas, staff very helpful. In the hallway during the day is a container of lemon infused water and coffee. No elevator but it was only one floor up. We were here two nights. Our friends stayed in the cottage next door. They had a king size bed, bathtub but no air conditioning. We were content with the facilities since we knew it was an older house. Our luggage arrived in our room from the ferry and when we left our luggage magically appeared on the dock. Cost is pricey but our package included round trip tickets on ferry, tickets to the fort and a free pound of fudge. Seemed like a great deal! Highly recommend!

We enjoyed our two night stay at the Harbor View Inn. Our reservation was for a Garden View Balcony Room. The hotel is located a quarter to half mile from town, so it was quiet at night. The breakfast was more than adequate. We also rented bikes from the hotel during the afternoon. Most places charged upwards of $15 per hour, so we found the $5 per hour a deal (not sure if this was just the price for hotel guests).
All of the staff we encountered were warm, pleasant and welcoming.
Not all rooms have air conditioning. I saw some reviews complaining about this, but on the hotel website the room description does indicate if the room does not have air conditioning, so there were no surprises for us.
I'm sure some rooms have harbor views, but we're glad we didn't pay for a room with one. It is just as easy to step outside to enjoy the view.
The porters were excellent and got our bags from the ferry to the hotel without any issues. On departure, we decided to just carry our bags as we didn't have many and the hotel really isn't that far from the dock in our minds. If you have a lot of bags or have limited mobility, definitely use the porters.
We would definitely stay here again.

The Harbour View Inn was a great place to stay on Mackinac Island. Perfect location! It was close enough to the center of town to be convenient without being so close that you are in the middle of the hustle.
The bike rentals at the Inn are incredibly well priced compared to other establishments. They had plenty of single and tandem bicycles. There is a convenient lunch restaurant as well as a sufficient breakfast, served until 9:30.
The rooms are a good size and very clean.
Our only semi-complaint would be that they do not clean the rooms during your stay and do not provide clean towels throughout your stay, even though we were there for five nights. I don’t find that acceptable. They were more than willing to accommodate our needs when we requested at the front desk which we appreciated but for the daily rate, clean towels should be provided regularly.
We would definitely stay at Harbour View Inn again if we are ever lucky enough to visit the island a second time.

Thank you for your review! We we were just able to get some more staff in and we are now able to service stay overs! This staffing shortage has sure taken it's toll on the island. Prior to that we would gladly get you new towels or anything else needed, you just needed to let the front desk know!

From room amenities, to the included breakfast selections, to the staff’s kind, helpful ways, this inn was everything I hoped for during our stay at Mackinac Island. Every inch of this inn was spot clean and there was always coffee and fruit flavored water available in the lobby. This is definitely a top rate inn.

We had been to Mackinac Island many times, but truly, the best way to enjoy Mackinac is to spend a few nights at a hotel on the island. When we went to the island in July, this was our first time at the Harbour View Inn. It was a wonderful experience! From the moment we got off the ferry, we were pampered: Tony, from the Harbour View, took our bags and we were free to leisurely walk the downtown streets and make the 10 minute walk to the hotel. Everything at the hotel was beautiful. The service was always "with a smile," our room was large and clean, the gardens were magnificent, and we felt like we stepped back in time.
The hotel offered bike rentals that were convenient and cheaper than the ones offered downtown. There were beautiful lobby rooms to sit and relax inside and a large front porch with a view of the harbor. It was a short walking distance to everything.
Breakfast was "Covid-To-Go" style. You could chose from a decent selection and the servers would put the food in a brown bag to eat in the indoor or outdoor dinning areas. It was a perfect way to start the day. Coffee and tea and water were available all day in the lobby.
Overall, the Harbour View was a wonderful place to stay. I worried that a historic hotel would be "rickety" but everything was fresh and comfortable. I would choose this hotel again for my next trip to Mackinac Island.

I stay at HVI at least once a year and I never have anything negative to say; however, I would like to pass on to others that if you are staying in one of their buildings in the back and you don't want to hear noise above you, please ask for a top floor room. We were on the first floor and we constantly heard running/noise especially at night and one night it went on until after midnight. I should have called the front desk, but didn't want to wake my elderly mother with a phone call. It would be great if people would be mindful of others. I'm not sure if the Inn has a "quiet time", but might be something they could consider and/or remind people on the upper floors to respect their neighbors under them.

First weekend opening after Covid and felt very comfortable. Room clean (although I did my own extra). Pleasant staff and accommodated breakfast with list of items available and handed by masked/gloved staff. If you're going to rent bikes they give a discount to guests, although if not early in the day you may wish to wipe down first. Our room was first floor with young active child above us we could hear running around, but they went to bed early and was really no big deal.

This is the first time we’ve stayed here and we’re so glad we did! We ended up with a room on the 3rd floor of the “guest house”. We loved the view and the balcony area.
Staff is great and room was clean. I would live to see the inn invest in better bed pillows-ours were awful. And the shower didn’t have much water pressure.
You can rent bikes on-site which is super convenient. Fee is $5/hr for guests.
After checking out staff allowed us to leave our bags at the front desk so we could enjoy the rest of the day bag-free.
Hope to return again next summer.

Excellent stay at Harbor View Inn! Room was spacious (king bed) & the front desk was very friendly & helpful. They had spots for us to keep our luggage both when we arrived & after we checked out so we could explore the island more & not on a time limit. They will also take your luggage to the ferry for you but we didn’t want to pick a departure time. Breakfast was good; even with Covid restrictions. They had yogurt, fruit, cereal, hard boiled eggs, muffins & a few other items. The room was very clean & had a nice balcony with chairs for us to use. The bed was very comfy but needed at least one more pillow. My only complaint was no fridge but we knew that prior. We did have a ceiling fan however which for us was a nice bonus & my husband liked the heat lamp in the bathroom! We’ll definitely return!

The staff were very friendly and I liked having a porter taking our luggage to and from the ferry. The Inn was just far enough away from downtown yet just close enough to ride our bikes with ease. The breakfast was nice, as it is a continental breakfast and we enjoyed the variety. Our room had a view of the water along with a balcony that had chaired for our comfort. We actually loved staying here and will come back.
