IT is obvious that they do not get many guests, the rooms were ok, the bathroom shelves were dirty, the general service of the Hotel was really not up to standard. The dining room a total disaster, table clothes were dirty the service from staff was totally unacceptable. The food was well prepared but not worth the price we paid, attention to detail very lacking ........

We chose to stop there as we knew they had refurbished the place recently. However, it felt like we stepped into the past when we entered the place. The first room we were put into did not have everything working - the tv, air conditioner and water. When i phoned Tripadvisor (after 3 complaints to the the reception) they finally put us into another room (a better room) where only the air conditioner did not work. We were the only guests at the hotel. The sandwich I had for dinner was soggy and possibly the worst I had ever had. We were tired so we stayed in order to press on with our journey the next day but we certainly will not be back.

TERRIBLE. Stay away if you need sleep. Better luck sleeping in your car. Pub music going full blast. After midnight already. Sleep not possible. Just move somewhere else. How anybody can ever call this a hotel is beyond me. It's like renting a cupboard inside a night club.

A perfect little budget place with great food and cold beer from the "Blikkies Bar" (the on-site Pub)
Staff are all very friendly and helpful,
Aircon in our room didnt heat up but it wasnt that cold so all was ok
Bikers have safe parking too, we were allowed to park inside in the safety of the currently unused dining hall

Stop for a quick sleepover before driving back from CPT to PTA, was very sufficient. Good service, very clean, helpful staff, could really recommend for future stays to consider using Carnarvon Hotel.

A very disappointing visit to the Northern Cape. Arrived ready to check in and they made us wait until my office had sent through the proof of payment before they would book us in - it is not hotel policy to book in unpaid guests! Staff are very disinterested in the satisfaction of the guests or assisting the guests, we had to find our own way to our room. The rooms were very neglected (broken toilet seat, dirty carpets etc.) and outdated, the rooms look like they come out of a bad 50's movie. We are in the 21st Century embrace it, what hotel doesn't have wifi let alone has wifi and won't let the guests access it. They did however have "secure parking" as advertised.

The restuarant didn't have stock of some of the items on the menu and the food took forever to arrive even though it was just my colleague and myself in the restaurant, when the food arrived it was cold. The night club/pub adjacent to the restaurant had a no smoking sign on the door but that rule was clearly not enforced. The music was so loud it made conversation almost impossible and a good nights rest a challenge.

The entire stay was unpleasant, from arrival to departure.

Well. What can I say? This has to be the most disappointing stay at any establishment I have ever experienced. From the minute we walked in the door it was clear that going the extra mile for me as a guest was the last thing on each person's mind. Everybody looked disinterested. We were simply given our keys and told the rooms were down the hall. The rooms are very basic and need a lot of TLC. Poor TV reception with no channel variety as well as a night club with loud music to interupt one trying to sleep. The cutlery for coffee and the glasses were dirty as well. Dinner order was taken, only for a reappearance a few minutes later advising that there is no T-bone. Perhaps one should advise guests beforehand? A request to be provided with lunch packs in lieu of breakfast was met with "I'll have to ask the manager". When collecting lunch packs I was asked to pay in R19 after our booking included breakfast. Really? To top it all, no WiFi! All this for the princely sum of R800

This was one of the most disappointing places we visited throughout our Northern Cape trip. It was under new management and the hotel was neglected and the service was very poor. Although the room was clean it felt rundown . We booked in advance to attend a Christmas lunch, but they messed up the booking. With our arrival (thinking we were going to enjoy a hot meal), we ended up with cold food and a sour face from one of the owners. The other owner tried to make it up to us, but unfortunately the damage was already done. And just when we thought things couldn't get any worse, they decided to open up a "night-club" for the locals, right next door to the hotel, which meant no sleep at all. It was a nightmare.
