Stayed here for 2 nights, with my son’s hockey team in the area for a tournament. The pictures the hotel puts up on their web site are very deceptive. It was chosen for the pool/ water park/ game room. Game room was closed because the roof was leaking and the floors were wet, collecting water in buckets. Water park open but pool heater not working, water freezing. Place was very dirty, old dated and in disrepair. Hallways reeked of marajania- my 10 year was complaining of the smell, it was making him sick to his stomach. We received 2-3 inches of snow one night we stayed there and lit not plowed nor walkways cleared. Only a few reasons i gave it 2 stars instead of one: 1. Staff were nice and tied; 2. There was hot water and a good stream to shower; mattresses were ok. One of the worse places I ever stayed . I don’t think I will ever stay at a clarion again this was soooooooooo bad.

We were combing a business trip and family stay and so we had no choice about the hotel we stayed at for the first night --until our group meets up.

Good points:

Hotel allowed us to check in early.

Indoors looks fresher/maintained better than outdoors.

Room looked clean and at least partially updated.

Linens seemed fine.

We are on the second floor in the back and the room seemed quiet.

Close to shopping and many nearby food choices.

Bad points:

We had to pay $50 for 2 hours of swimming because the pool is only open from 4 to 8pm and it is not free to guests. Try to tell your children that have been good all day that they can't swim. We felt like we were held hostage.

We paid for our autistic child to swim and she hardly swam because you can't wear pool shoes in the pool--she doesn't like the feel of the concrete, etc-- and was crying because the life guard kept yelling at her to remove her shoes. At first she didn't understand him and then after we figured out what he was saying, she didn't understand why she couldn't wear her water shoes, neither did we.

But you can, apparently run on the wet pool deck at full speed, without a life guard ever stopping you. And larger preteens ran by my table all night. That was so relaxing.

Each day you stay you have to repay for swimming. I am checking out tommorrow (it's cheaper to stay at a way more expensive hotel than to stay here and pay for the pool each afternoon). I would have rather had a free outdoor pool than the 3 slides and splash pad they consider a water park.

No place to exersize swim, the deepest part of the pool is 4'.

The life guard at this moment is wearing black jeans, work boots, has keys and lanyards hooked to his baggy pants, a Polo and walks around without his lifeguard float. The person at the front wrist band check in table at the pool entrance has on red swim shorts and was laughing heartily at his you tube video with ear buds. He did remove them to answer our food/drink question. Good thing no one needed saving.

You can't bring any outside food or drinks in the pool except from the hotel grill. Since the hotel food is similar to a friendly's we elected to eat out and missed half of the swim time. Most of all the food is junk, greasy burgers and fried foods. Kids meals are $8.00. Another table had food and we just decided to pass.

Ran out of towels at the pool.

Room is very small. Hardly any room to walk around the bed. Our four pieces of luggage literally filled the room.

The outside of the hotel is run down and tired. The parking lot is weedy.

Back security door is broken and does not even close, not to mention lock.

Not sure if there are any elevators, haven't found one yet for guests.

We asked for an extra room key envelope so that we would have a written room number with the 2nd key card for our older kids and myself so we don't forget or transpose the number, and apparently you can only have one paper sleeve per hotel room. I didn't realize that paper sleeves were an expensive commodity.

Room air conditioner was not working very well. We have it set at high and 62 degrees. Hope that works.

Hotel is set on a divided highway which you can only turn into from one direction. No back entrances. At commuting hour expect to travel out of your way and wait for a turn around. Larger SUV'S will find the turn pretty tight.

Overall--------

If you need a cheap room for less than $120 a night then stay here. This hotel is fine for a bed. Grab any dinner you need and park yourself in your room for the night. Fine.

If you plan on staying for a few days, have children or want to travel in and around the area....might want to look somewhere else.

---another tip. Find your room first and then unload your luggage. The door they tell you to go to may not be the closest.

We are dissapointed by this hotel. Will skip this hotel for next quarters business trip. And this is the off season.

DO NOT PLAN ON WATER PARK MONDAY-THURSDAY's!! It's very misleading on booking websites.
My daughter chooses to travel to a water park to celebrate her birthday. We traveled 6 hours to be near family prep school & choose the Clarion aqua lagoon hotel. She has two friends with her to enjoy. We arrive late. The rooms are small but tidy. The next morning the front desk informs that the park is closed during the weekdays. Huge let down! The websites do not advertise this very important detail. So sad because it was a toss up between here and the great wolf lodge. We go to breakfast and are seated with direct view of the closed pool and water slides. Then the front desk tells us the arcade is closed as well. DO NOT GET FOOLED & disappoint your children. Signs in properly indicate it's $20 per swimmer to use water slides and $10 per adult just to sit and watch your children. Staff seemed embarrassed by my questions. Sorry I work in the hotel industry and this is such false advertising especially on the Expedia site. Never again!

My Family and I choose this Hotel due to the Waterpark. Upon arrival we were told that the Waterpark was only Open Friday-Sunday from 4-7 well after our checkout time on Friday. The guy at the front desk did say we can get in free but we were not going to stay 3hrs after checking out to go to the Waterpark. No where is this mentioned on the site nor when booking. They also have a restaurant that was not open and the breakfast is packaged muffins that's behind the front desk. This place is not clean at all, looks like they had some type of water damage as there was mold in each of my family members rooms near the windows. One room curtains had this white powder or dust that got all over the kids when they looked out the window. We found candy and empty lotion bottles in the nightstand so housekeeping is NOT CLEANING PROPERLY. I used Microban and Lysol in each of our rooms as we did not want to touch anything. There were trash bags at the front entrance that was full of pill bottles and sketchy looking people just hanging around. If we hadn't come from CT and booked a month in advanced we would have went somewhere else. The staff was nice, but I do not recommend anyone staying here. Only good thing is there was plenty of restaurants and shopping locations in the area.

Me and my fiancé have stayed here a few times in the past, and at those times this place was decent and suited our needs for a Six Flags trip. I have to say that it’s gone downhill. The staff on the phones could have been friendlier, and the front desk staff that checked me in showed barely any personality. As a front desk employee myself, I expected more. The curb appeal would make you think this place has been condemned. Upon walking in, a guest approached us and asked if we had any money to spare (if I had cash on me I may have given here some, but what the heck?) The bed was the cleanest part of the room. There was a 99% smoked joint on the carpet beside the bed, old spit or snot on the wall, and a stained towel that looked previously used. The shower head was leaking which caused water to spray the ceiling, the shower head was rusty, so was the toilet paper holder (who loves tetanus?) I understand that with covid, staff is hard to keep/find, and money may not be plentiful, but Choice Hotels commitment to clean didn’t apply to the room apparently. Needless to say, we will probably book elsewhere for our next Six Flags trip.

The ladies at the front desk were helpful and very nice. They tried to accommodate us. So, my complaint is about the horrible conditions of the hotel.

First, when I made my reservation (30+ days in advance), I contacted the hotel and inquired about the state of the room due to some of the negative reviews online. I was informed I would be placed in the "new" section of the hotel. When I checked in, I was told the new section was under-maintained. Also, the pool is only open on the weekend (Friday to Sunday). However, the hotel did not post it, nor was I informed during the reservation process. I was given the keys to both of my rooms. We proceeded to our rooms. The hotel hallways are dark (poor lighting) and filthy. The walls are dirty. All the side entrances were full of garbage and dirty. The first room stunk of cigarettes and possibly marijuana. I had to be moved to another room without the nasty smell. However, both of our room AC units look like a safety hazard. The AC units were nasty. My family woke up after two hours due to a persistent cough and did not fall sleep after. We did not have another choice but to stay because, due to college graduations in the area, the rest of the hotels were full.

I submitted a complaint and was credit points to the account—NO response from management. Do not stay here.

We were assigned this hotel as part of a large tournament at UMASS. Due to travel change, we made a separate reservation for an additional night before our stay. We arrived at midnight. Clerk was very friendly and put us into a room overlooking the "waterpark" in the main buiding. We were told that because there were two reservations that we would need to re-check in the next morning but we would not have to change rooms. The room (170) was large clean and comfortable. Beds were comfortable and the linens were soft. The adventure started the following morning when we were told that we would in fact need to re-pack and change rooms. We moved to the tower (2385) Pictures are from this room. The room was 10 degrees warmer than the hallway, sink did not drain, fridge was inoperative, wifi not working. We turned on the AC, tried to troubleshoot the fridge and get connected. After half an hour we called down to report the AC issue. The maintenance man unsuccessfully attempted to get the AC working. We returned to the lobby to connect to wifi and find a place to eat lunch. While there several others from the team were gathering to discuss issues with their rooms. The staff did a very good job in what must have been a very uncomfortable situation. Our room experience was the norm not the exception. Fortunately they did move us back to the original room which made the stay endurable. Overall I would strongly recommend you seek other accommodations.

The hotel is terrible and in really bad conditions. Expensive for what it offers. Leaking ceiling at our door with a bucket to collect the drops, carpets broken and dirty, Chairs, beds and carpet dirty. Smell in the room dust and mold. I needed to sleep with a mask as I am very allergic. This hotel needs to be repair before it continues functioning. Per the concierge receptionists only two cleaning people during graduation weekend. I will never return and will not recommend people to stay before it is repair. Terrible conditions

This hotel was filthy - trash and cigarette butts all over the property, trash in the halls for several days, trash on the floor of the room when we walked in. We bought cleansing wipes to clean all the surfaces in the room. The only good point was the lady who checked us in - she was delightful!

This was undoubtedly the WORST hotel experience ever! We booked for a 3 night stay and regretted every minute. Our niece, who lives in West Springfield, told us this hotel is used as a city homeless shelter, which may explain the people begging money every time we went outside. The place smelled of mold, mildew, cat urine and old cigarettes. The landscaping was completely overgrown, the flags were ripped off and the remaining pieces were left to just hang on the poles, there were chunks of concrete falling off the drive up area, Where is mold and mildew on the ceiling times in the hallway, windows were broken out on some rooms, the card readers were smashed and not working so the exterior doors did not close or lock, the lights in the hallways had not been cleaned in so long there were spider webs wrapped around them, the exterior trash cans had not been emptied before we got there and the cans were still overflowing all over the ground when we left, there are old cigarette butts EVERYWHERE, and trash in the grass, the carpet in front of our room was torn and missing pieces, the ice makers did not work, the dirt and cut grass in the hall had not been swept in the 4 days we were there, the front counter lady was extremely rude and snobbish, the chairs in our room were broken, the bathroom door looked like it was kicked in because there was a big crack in it, the curtain was falling off the rod and was torn and frayed on the bottom, and there were several drug deals happening behind the hotel. I could go on and on. I have photos, but there is not a location to post them on! I understand COVID has limited amenities, but there was no dining, no breakfast, no wi-fi in rooms, no pool, no exercise facility, no fun center, no data center, no bar, no tennis, no laundry, no nothing AND the lady at the front desk said she would have to charge me extra to check in an hour early!!!
