I love staying at Bed & Breakfast accommodations. This property is full of charm and history. It was built in the late 1890’s by the Gorton family - the ones that have the very successful frozen fish businesses. The B&B is in a beautiful setting right across the street from the ocean and The Fisherman’s Memorial. We had lunch on the front porch one afternoon. Our host was very kind and helpful. Our bed was comfortable and breakfast was cold and simple, but lovingly served in an elegant dining room filled with lots of natural light and lovely furnishings. COVID precautions were maintained.

The inn is wonderful and John is very personable and great to talk to. I was late for work because I was having such a nice time at breakfast with John and the other guests. I had a very pleasant three nights in the Essex Room.

The room has a nice King Bed and a private bathroom w shower and very soft, nice towels that were restocked daily. Amenities such as shampoo and soap were available. And I loved that there were Kleenex everywhere!

Breakfast was wonderful. I enjoyed the coffee as much as the conversations. There is also tea available all day long. Everything is wonderful quaint and pleasant.

We were looking for a B&B to finish off our coastal road trip from Maine to Boston. This was the gem of our stays. When you pull up to the B&B, you already know the owner pays attention to detail. The gardens out front were absolutely beautiful. We were welcomed by Sam who showed us around the Inn. I stayed in the Manchester while my friend enjoyed the Magnolia room which was the larger of the two. Both had excellent views of the harbor. Beds were extremely comfortable. Home is decorated in a Victorian style throughout. We met the owner John after dining out and in the morning at breakfast. He was very friendly, and you can tell he takes pride in Gloucester and his B&B. Price was affordable. Breakfast was ample. I would highly recommend staying here if visiting the area north of Boston. Salem is a short drive from here.

Great customer service! I unfortunately had to cancel my reservation last minute and was told by the booking agency (Travelocity) that I would need to pay for 100% of the stay. I called Harborview Inn and they were extremely understanding and worked with me to limit the amount I was charged. After we spoke, they even called me back to make sure I cancelled so I wouldn't be charged.

"We want to provide a great service and experience to everyone who comes and stays with us, we are not here to take peoples money".

In a world with limited to no customer service, it is refreshing to speak with people who care about the customers and the services they offer, and are not looking to just make a quick buck.

Though I was not able to stay here, if I am ever looking to stay in the area again this will be the place!

This is a 200 year old house overlooking the beach and the Fisherman’s Memorial, walking distance to the downtown area, the harbour and also to Stage Fort Park. There is a small car park at the rear of the property as well as free parking on the street right outside. Also a lovely sunny terrace at the front.

We had a great room on the top floor - need to be aware there are stairs up from the street and to the two upper floors so maybe not suitable for those with mobility issues. We took smaller overnight bags to our top floor room

We particularly enjoyed the breakfast conversations with the owner John and with other guests.

My girlfriend and I saw a nice weather forecast for this past Saturday and decided to take a trip up to Gloucester, a seaport neither one of us has been to in decades.
We were so fortunate to google places to stay and found the Harborview Inn. I booked the Magnolia room, on the third floor, through the owner/ innkeeper John and was very happy with everything about it. It's a large room, very clean and had lot's of charm with the claw foot tub/shower and the pitched ceilings. The direct view of the harbor was outstanding. We put the 2 rocking chairs in front of the double windows and watched all the boat traffic and people walking to the Fisherman's Memorial which is diagonally across the street.
The inn is nicely decorated and Johns' son Sam was very accommodating and made check in a breeze.
We walked to Virgilio's bakery for lunch, which was only 5 minutes away and brought back lunch to the inn and ate on the front porch which was terrific. 63 degree's with the sun beaming down on us was a real treat for a late November escape.
We are extremely happy with our stay at the Harborview and we will be back!

Our quick visit was an anniversary celebration. The Inn was everything we were looking for- great Oceanside location & walking distance to the charming village. Our room was comfortable, cozy and clean with a gorgeous view. John was the perfect welcoming host and made sure we had everything we needed. We really enjoyed talking with him as it gave us much insight into Gloucester’s history and residents. A striking and memorable feature was the beautifully decorated guest lounge (Cape Ann Room) where we enjoyed daily breakfast (great coffee!!). The room was so relaxing and welcoming we spent other time there too, just reading or enjoying the awesome ocean view. We would definitely stay here again and will recommend it to friends and family planning to visit the area.

Wonderful value, location and host!! Fresh breakfast choices every morning and you can't beat the view! Will definitely stay here again! We enjoyed our stay very much!
The B&B is a private home and must be respected as such. There is no elevator. The dining room is a lovely place to start your day before heading out to the promenade for a morning stroll. We spent every evening on the front porch just watching the world go by.
We have been to Gloucester several times over the years and I always feel like I'm home when I'm there. John gave us ideas for attractions and restaurants we may have missed during our many visits, and he did not steer us wrong.
We most definitely recommend the Harborview inn! Can't wait to go back!!

This was our first trip to Gloucester and we stayed at this historic house owned and managed by John. John was an absolute delight and shared his wealth of local history, sights and restaurants. This inn is clean and well maintained. We had a great view of the ocean across the street and were within easy walking distance to restaurants and other attractions. If we are ever in the area again, we would happily stay here again.

Thank you John for making this visit more authentic and meaningful to us.

My husband and I stayed at the Harborview Inn last week and had a wonderful stay. The Inn, and the rooms, are very clean and comfortable, quaint and in a great location. The room had a very nice view of the harbor and is right across the street from the Fisherman Memorial. John, the owner, and his team are very nice and knowledgeable of the area. We would definitely stay there again and highly recommend it.
