This was my worst ever experience with a hilton property... Stayed here for 9 days during July 4th weekend. Horrible Check-in experience: Checked in at around 11 pm. At check-in I was given the last available room at homewood suites section of the hotel, though the guy at reception lied to me that I have been upgraded because I am gold member (I am diamond, and it was the same room category that I booked). After getting to the room, I found the air conditioning unit to be broken (front panel was lying on the floor) and it was making too much noise. Requested the person at reception to change the room, I was informed they dont have any other room left as they have overbooked, I was given an option to downgrade to Hampton inn (lower floors of same building) or find another place at 11:30 pm. The person at the reception even had the audacity to tell me that they wont charge me anything for the downgrade.. As it was almost midnight, I decided to take the downgrade at hampton inn with a promise to get my booked room category at homewood suites the next day Room Quality: Avoid the 1 BR room, and take the studio instead.. 1 BR is actually not a 1BR but more like a studio + den.. Housekeeping is not provided automatically even after 5 days of stay.. you can request housekeeping 24 hrs in advance after you have stayed at the same room for 5 nights.. Cleanliness: As housekeeping is not provided, areas near the elevator look like garbage piles in the morning, and dustbins are always full to capacity Breakfast: Avoid at all cost, very poor quality, cold and pre packed Evening reception: Not offered, clearly to cut cost.. Overall, avoid this hotel at all cost..

Hotel's Favourite
This hotel was exceptionally clean and spacious in its interiors and we had a great parking deal around the corner at a facility called Towne Plaza parking overnight I believe…And the fact that masks were required and only registered key “guest” access to the hotel suites further reassured Hilton protocols for safety & cleanliness. But the true outstanding “gem” was the young woman at the front desk who assisted my digital checkin process remotely from NC a Ms Mahi Kinde a wonderfully enchanting ‘breathe of fresh air” to hospitality and the Hilton brand!! I was having to arrange for a digital key for my VIP associate and check in as well as get the logistics of the parking and she was like an ambassador of Good Will to the Silver Spr Bethesda, DC area!! As she was accurate, reliable, genuine and authentic!! I had a much dissimilar experience at the The Bethesda Hilton by Tapestry collection in the month of April by where the actual Gen Mgr checked me in and my VIP both of which we remain Hilton Diamond stays guests (and it was his Bdy) but the experience was conversely, most egregious and almost merited contacting Hilton Guest Assistance to lodge a full complaint!! The GM was rude, disingenuous, abrasive and abrupt!! Ms Mahi Kinde was the genuine article for hospitality and has truly redeemed not only Hilton hotels for the area of Silver Spr but the brand excellence ‘expectation has returned!! Sometimes it’s the subordinates that KNOW more regarding hospitality than the management (save your money from staying at the The Bethesda Doubletree where incompetence abounds…) and stay at the Hilton Homewood Suites Silver Spr Wash DC!!! The construction at the front and the besieged circadian population could do nothing to deter the high energy of the staff and the excellence found in the suite accommodations!! And Ms Mahi Kinde is an exceptional ‘welcoming personality at the front desk!!! Kudos to all and incentivize where you can…MsMahi is a keeper!!

There’s no breakfast although it’s advertised when you call, no pool, no shuttle, our stove didn’t work. They did two holds on my card adding up to over 700 dollars for TWO NIGHTS. When I called no one was helpful..

There is getting to be a pattern of disappointment with our Hilton Hotel experiences. Homewood Suites by Hilton Silver Spring was not a good one. We visit Silver Spring on a frequent basis, and have stayed at both Homewood Suites and it’s sister, Hampton Inn, on a number of occasions. This visit was particularly bad. FYI, we have Diamond Elite status. I say this to emphasize that status means nothing here. Never were we offered any so-called benefits that we are supposed to receive. This hotel, as well as Hilton in general, is clearly taking a turn where they no longer appreciate brand loyalty. I’ll start with our arrival at the hotel. They have a narrow driveway that has always been challenging. This time, cars were parked along the sides in such a way that it was difficult to pass. Then, in front of the hotel, an SUV was parked across the driveway, so it was impossible to even pass by. They were parked there for at least 15-20 minutes, and stood around the car without even trying to unload quickly. There was no member of the staff outside to direct traffic or even to encourage people to move. The best we could do was back out of the driveway and drag our luggage from the street. Even though it was a busy Saturday, there was only one person at the front desk, who was answering phones and attempting to check people in. She was not in the best of moods, and behaved that way. The so-called suite was small, cramped and dark. The condition is not great, to say the least. The air conditioner is very noisy, yet not strong enough to cool the sitting/kitchen area. The lack of a work table is an issue - trying work at a kitchen table is no substitute for a well-lit and comfortable workstation. The iron was broken and the board is a joke - about the size of a dinner platter. Hilton no longer provide housekeeping on a regular basis, but state that if you need anything, just call. We we did, it took a very long time to receive what we need and it was often incorrect. This bring me to the more serious issues. Hilton promises a “free breakfast.” This is completely misleading. The hotel provides an “on-the-go” bag, just as they did when we stayed during the height of Covid. Currently, all the restaurants in the area are fully open, but you the hotel decided to save a great deal of money and continued to substitute this for a real breakfast. This would be somewhat acceptable, except that the bag contains a small and poor selection (a small bagel, cream cheese and a cookie). Even worst, Monday morning, when the hotel was half full, they ran out of bags by 8:30 AM, even though the they are supposed to be available until 10 AM. Tuesday morning was more of the same - no on-the-go bags at all - the “truck didn’t show up.” No apology, no amends. Although they have three elevators, one of them was always out-of-order (I think this was also true when we stayed at the Hampton Inn, which is the same building, last April). On Saturday, only one elevator was functional, leading to very long wait-times during a period when the hotel was quite full. Another poor - and potentially dangerous - problem was the condition of the fitness center. The air conditioning was broken (during a hot summer), no water was available, and there were no disinfectant wipes, which might actually be a breach of health regulations during this time of Covid. Most frustrating it the lack of availability of anyone in authority. The few employees that are here seem to be over-worked and unable to explain or take responsibility for any problems. Management is close to impossible to reach. We were left with the feeling that no one cared about how this dual hotel is run, or how it treats its guests.
