Certificate of Excellence
The spirit of the Blue Moon Rising Village is that of a community. We invite you to come experience the beauty of Deep Creek Lake while staying in one of our cabins. Appropriately named Waldens, after the American masterpiece by Henry David Thoreau, our vacation rentals complement the natural landscape of our site, and encourage a sense of community throughout. Each Walden has a unique design and personality, and we hope that our residents enjoy each one for its distinct characteristics. The Waldens were built locally in Cranesville, MD by our friends at Hobbitat. They are primarily built out of locally sourced reclaimed lumber. Bill Thomas and his team carefully crafted the spaces to fully capture what Garrett County Living is all about. While each centimeter of space is as valuable as the next, the design creatively fits the comforts of home into a cabin in the woods. Built in the vein of the tiny home movement, our Waldens provide the best possible use of space for your vacation; a space to rest before your outdoor adventures, and then to relax and reflect afterwards.

Blue Moon Rising fills a perfect niche in Deep Creek Lake: small accommodations that are beautiful. Deep Creek is full of lovely, huge houses, but BMR offers more than a dozen tiny houses that are perfect for couples or small families. Made with reclaimed materials, the tiny hous

Upper loft bed: nice.
Is there lake access and/or waterfront equipment (canoe, paddle board etc)? Thanks!
No. You are relatively close to places that I assume have rentals, but Blue Moon does not have anything like that available (at least when we were there.)

Do the cabins have air conditioning?
No. But in the deep creek area, they generally aren't necessary.

are any of the cabins one floor only?
There are a couple cabins that do not have a loft and there is one ADA cabin which is more easily accessible if that is the concern. Here are some suggestions MoonShadow Orion Blue Sky (ADA compliant but also has a loft)

Are there any hiking trails nearby?
We enjoyed the 2 short walks on property. There are several state parks within 30 minutes with hiking we intend to investigate next time.
