I selected this hotel to be close to American University to help my son move in. There are no hotels at the AU/Tenleytown stop on the Metro, but this did show up as being fairly close. It's about a 5 minute walk once you get out of the Bethesda Metro station and it will take you a few minutes to actually get out of the station because of its depth underground. The Hilton Garden Inn was a perfectly fine hotel. No issues, no problems and a friendly employee when I checked in. Breakfast was typical Hilton Garden Inn/Courtyard/Holiday Inn Express fare. Gold members, as of this writing, get a $10 food credit and the breakfast buffet was $10. It was nice to have breakfast as an option again amid the pandemic, even if it was underwhelming (and I'm not complaining.) Curtain controls were a pain to find in my room but I was eventually able to find it and make it work. I was pleasantly surprised by the alarm clock (yes, I still use one, even though I bring along a battery-powered one in the event of a power failure and I also use my phone. As an additional backup I also request a wakeup call. When the alarm goes off, I have to be up and failure is not an option!) Take a look at the picture. It was so easy to use and an absolute delight. I think that this hotel has gotten the message that guests don't have the instruction manual and if it's not intuitive, alarm clocks can be difficult to set. This one was really easy to figure out and you can charge your phone on top of it! If you check out my review from May of the Indigo Denver hotel you'll see that I had a major issue with the alarm clock, in fact challenging hotel management have their five most-recent hires try to figure out how to set the alarm clock! Nice hotel, but not rushing back because next time I want something a little closer to the AU campus. Even though this hotel is technically two stops away from AU on the Metro, it's two very long stops away! Next stay will be around the Dupont Circle area, giving me access on the red ;ine. If your business takes you to Bethesda, this is a perfectly good choice and you'll be comfortable.

We stayed here the first weekend in March to move our son into American University. Easy to find, parking is right next door ($20/day). Online check in. Room was spacious and the beds were comfy. Conveniently located to Metro and DC. We found several restaurants within walking distance for both dinner and breakfast.

The reception staff are not friendly and welcoming to guest. Upon arriving the person at the desk did not seem like they wanted to be bothered. If you are not a people person you should not work at the front desk.

Stayed for 7 nights and my room didn’t get cleaned even though I requested multiple times. At check in I requested the room to be serviced every other day, this never happened even though I asked about it several times. I basically had to ask for toiletries several times. The hotel is nice and in a great location, the service was just sub par.
