The Sea Cliff House Motel is a beachfront property that has been under the same ownership for over 30 years. We renovated the 3rd floor of our main house building in 2012 adding 2 new suites! We now have 3 luxury suites on our property ... the Grand Suite, the Penthouse Suite and the Honeymoon Suite. Our property also has kitchenette units, Jacuzzi rooms and of course, ocean view rooms that will take your breath away. We are a beachfront property offering a seasonal outdoor heated swimming pool for the entire family (children & adults) to enjoy and we offer a seasonal outdoor hot tub spa for adults (18 years of age and over). Bring your hamburgers and hot dogs because the grills are located poolside for your convenience. All rooms have a mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker along with free Wi-Fi and nationwide calling. The suites and kitchenettes are fully appointed ... just bring your clothing and food.

Detailed Reviews
My wife chose the Sea Cliff House for our two night getaway to Old Orchard Beach based on its location right on the beach but away from the crowds. We didn’t need a kitchenette so we reserved room #7 on the second floor overlooking the pool (and the hot tub) with a view of the beach.
Due to COVID, the staff explained that they were not doing daily housekeeping but anything we needed we could get at the office. When our plans changed and we extended our reservation to four nights they discounted all four nights by 10%.
Our room was not huge by any means but it was more than comfortable enough, and clean. We had a small refrigerator, microwave (on top of fridge), and coffee maker (on top of microwave). The bathroom was small and just had a shower stall but for a short stay it was fine.
This hotel is a short walk to Tami Lyn’s Restaurant where we got breakfast every day. If you want to do your own cooking they have rooms with kitchenettes and a line of grills by the pool available to use.
A short boardwalk leads to a very nice section of the beach that was never too crowded. Wear sandals as the boardwalk gets very hot in the sun. The balcony at the hotel is Trex which can get hot too.
The Sea Cliff is approximately 3/4 mile walk to the pier at Old Orchard Beach. It was an easy flat walk for us but it could be hard for people with mobility challenges or small children. We appreciated not having to drive anywhere during our stay.
This was our first vacation at Old Orchard Beach. If we go back I would consider staying here again.

When we booked, only room with Jacuzzi was available. This room is small because of jacuzzi. There is no table, no chairs inside. There is a small patio table with 2 chairs outside on a small porch, with ocean view (!). Small refrigerator with microwave and coffee maker on a small dresser. If you a fan of jacuzzi, by all means take it. Otherwise do not. Advantage – nice ocean view and proximity to beach. Because of Covid-19, there is no daily service room, which is not a big deal, since all the personnel is very helpful and accommodating. You can get coffee, towels, toiletries etc. Not a problem. We decided to stay one more night, and with a staff help we were able to. However we had to move to another room. Again, with personnel help, we were able to do it way before 3 pm, therefore we could spend entire day on a beach. This time we had a room with kitchenette. This room is much bigger, actually there are two rooms, with a table, chairs, bigger fridge, microwave and stove. There are mugs, glass cups, plates, pans – everything you need to cook a simply breakfast, lunch or dinner. No ocean view, but I would prefer that room over one with Jacuzzi. The rooms were clean, and we saw personnel spending some time to sanitized rooms before next guests. We were missing one thing – a small broom with a small shovel to clean a floor after coming back from a beach. The motel is far enough from the main pier crowd, but not too far for a nice walk. The beach is clean, with less people than other parts of the Old Orchard Beach. Next time when we visit the Old Orchard Beach, we will stay there again. Recommend it.

I when I travel to southern Maine on Business during the spring, fall & winter months I always stay at Seacliff. It's conveniently located 20 minutes from Portland, quiet, right next to the beach, reasonably priced and clean. Recently I had a project that required my employees to perform work in Portland, Biddeford & Springvale, Maine and so Old Orchard Beach was a good central location for them to stay while working in the area. I called Seacliff to reserve rooms for the my employees and they would not book the rooms because I was not going to be present when they checked in, even though I was paying in full with my business credit card. I asked the reason for this and they said it was their policy because they were a small business. I have never heard of such a policy for a lodging establishment ever and have booked rooms for employees many times prior to this. Weird considering they were already into the off season. Several weeks later I was going to be working in that area with my employees and so I was able to book rooms for all of us after I assured the desk clerk that I would be showing up in person at check in. All fine and Dandy.
Seacliff's parking spots are a jumble of room #s that are not in any order attempting to accommodate both first and 2nd floor rooms. The parking place for the 1st floor room I was staying in was waaaaaay down the walk and around the corner from my room entrance. I parked in front of my room instead to unload my belongings and decided to leave my car in that space while I walked the beach and then walked to a restaurant for dinner. There were plenty of empty spaces in front of the building to accommodate the FEW lodgers that were staying there on a Tuesday night in November. While I was in the middle of my meal I got a call from the motel front desk clerk informing me that I was parked in the wrong spot and I must move my car. Not nice....how about a note on the door that I would see when I returned from dinner? When I returned from dinner I had to walk around to find my room # on a parking space because they were not in order. I moved my car. That space was on such an incline I had to hold the car door open while I exited the car. I wonder how they manage this parking system in mid summer when they are full.
I wonder if they are under new ownership or management and the new owners have no clue how to operate a motel.

We understand and we're sorry for the inconvenience of having to be present at check in, but this is a standard policy of our establishment as well as many of the larger corporate lodging establishments throughout the US. In fact, it is common to require the credit card holder to be present with a photo ID upon check in for the booked rooms to avoid any liability issues or confusion. In addition, the parking spaces that we provide are all clearly marked and assigned to their coordinating guestrooms or suites to ensure that every guest will be able to park a vehicle at any time of day or night without the concern of someone being parked in that spot. The spots at the end of the lot are only a few steps away and still close to their coordinating guestrooms. While choosing to park in someone else's assigned parking space might not have seemed like a huge issue at the time — unfortunately, this does become an issue when that guest must park in someone else's spot, trickling into complete disarray because multiple guests are prevented from parking in their assigned parking spaces. Therefore, it was necessary for the office to contact this guest immediately as this situation was problematic for other guests. Of course, we are never happy to see a dissatisfied guest for any reason and these comments will be forwarded to management.

Dirty and dated furnishings, the staff was rude and unfriendly. They clearly have a scam going where they kick you out immediately for even the smallest infraction and then claim they are keeping the deposit because you smoked in the room. There was absolutley no smoking in the room and we were barely in it for 1/2 an hour before a yelling, threatening, rude male employee informed us we were not welcome there because of lighting a cigarette on the way to the smoking area as we were less then 10' away from it. It's good to know businesses like this won't be around too much longer if this is how they treat their guests, they have absolutley no training in conflict resolution and blatently lied to our faces about evidence of smoking in the room completely ruining a special trip for my fiancee and I.

An infraction of the Sea Cliff House policies is taken quite seriously, because these policies have been established for the comfort, enjoyment, and safety of all guests. In addition, our policies are outlined to each guest in numerous ways from the initial reservation booking confirmation to the signed confirmation upon check-in – including our policy postings on all third-party sites and on our own website, as well as the verbal citing of these policies by front office staff directly to guests upon check-in. Our ample conveyance of our policies is expressly intended to inform with the hope of avoiding situations of this type. We absolutely understand that no one is perfect and when a guest recognizes their infractions (even seemingly small ones) with the willingness to immediately modify his or her behavior and accept responsibility without confrontation – we will be willing to give our guests that opportunity. However, when a guest smokes inside or outside (anywhere) on the property or violates any other policies after being specifically informed that the action or behavior is strictly prohibited and that the resulting damages are subject to the forfeiture of the "Damage & Theft" deposit – and subsequently becomes combative toward staff regarding their "small" infraction – then the situation escalates into a blatant infraction against our other guests who are happy to abide by our established policies and who simply want to experience their stay without having their peaceful enjoyment disturbed by a problematic guest. Naturally, we would want a guest and his fiance' to have a different and more favorable outcome. However, under these unpleasant circumstances – it would be unfair to the other guests to allow this type of disruptive behavior to continue. Our guests return each year, because they can rely upon our unyielding commitment to them to continually foster a kind, safe, peaceful, and pristine environment.

Very nicely done exterior renovations. Nice deck areas with chairs right outside each room. Right on the beach. Room was clean, staff friendly while we were there.
Interior of room was weird mismatched mix of old furniture & decor, & TVs are super small but had great Chanel selection. Internet worked which was nice as our cell service was iffy here for some reason. Micro/Fridge combo was nice. Slow draining shower/tub basin & marginal shower head pressure.
The biggest issue we had was that the room was extremely uncomfortable. We couldn’t get comfortable on any of the furniture, especially the couch (really a futon)… might as well been a torture rack, literally most uncomfortable ‘couch’ I’ve been on in 30+years of traveling as an adult. Not sure how some seniors could even get out of it. Was unfortunate as we were somewhat stuck in room for a day due to inclement weather. Bed wasn’t comfortable either, but nothing like how bad the living room couch was.
No daily room service during stay. Prior place we stayed in Maine earlier in week serviced room daily.
Hadn’t stayed in OOB since early 1990s & this was a refresher on how many/most of these motels are really summer party/crash pads that take a beating from guests. That said, the $100 damage deposit seems unnecessary during the off-season. Other guests we saw during our stay were primarily seniors.
Even in off-season travel in the area again we’d pass on this motel solely based on how uncomfortable the room was for us.

I was extremely disappointed with this hotel. For the cost per night there was no housekeeping services. The bed was hard as a rock. The full kitchen came with 1 fry pan and 2 pots. No mixing bowls or measuring cups if you wanted to make pancakes. The grill and utensils had to be cleaned before being used. The pool was dirty and lastly the floor in my room was so dirty that the bottoms of my feet turned black and my grandson, who is crawling had black dirty knees/legs from the floor. We had to put beach towels down so he could play. Extremely disappointed and won't come back.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. Our daily goal is to provide the highest quality of excellence in service and accommodations and we’re sorry that you did not enjoy your stay. While we hand-select our mattresses choosing a level of firmness based upon most sleeping preferences, body types, and ergonomic benefits — we can certainly understand how individual sleeping preferences may vary and our mattress may be a bit firmer than what you are accustomed to at home. Also, as with many types of lodging today — there has been a shift in staffing and guest preference as a result of the pandemic, which made it necessary to suspend daily housekeeping services. While we do understand that this may be inconvenient to those with different expectations — we can assure you that our housekeepers are quite meticulous about providing comprehensive cleaning and deep disinfection between each stay with a double-check system to ensure that each guest’s arrival will be met in fresh and clean accommodations. In addition, the pool and hot tub spa are chemically treated and maintained daily to ensure the highest standards in safety and cleanliness. Plus, the grills on our property are enjoyed by many throughout the day, which is the reason that we encourage guests to be mindful of other guests who may be using the grill and its utensils after them. Finally, as indicated on our website — the kitchenettes are appointed with the following items: towels, dishes, cups, plates, utensils (service for 4), pots & pans, a coffee maker, microwave, 2-burner stove top, and refrigerator. Unfortunately, the type of accessories you were seeking aren’t typically in demand by guests and are not usually included on the list of essential items. We’re sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations and your comments will be forwarded to management.

The Grand Suite, which is a full apartment size space and sleeps 10 is the only ground floor suite at the Sea Cliff. The other pool-side accommodations on the ground floor are guestrooms. We're sorry if there were any misunderstandings regarding what was available or occupied and we're sorry that you were not happy with your stay.

We couldn't wait to finally get away and booked the ocean front room #1. I suppose over all it is average at best. Mattress felt more like a box spring, pool was decent, they have bright white rope lights everywhere going up our atairs so bugs everywhere and very dirty we didnt even use the little table and rickety chairs on the landing, zero maid service as in you have to bring down even your own trash and get toilet paper towels etc. Our BIGGEST issue was the a.c or should I say lack there of. They have the split units which we are familiar with we have 2 in our house when I called down to say we have it set on 64 and it is staying at 72 in our room even with all the curtains closed (so much for our view) and bathroom door closed we were told it is working fine! We'll it wasn't and nothing else was done they didn't even call anyone to look at it. By today when we kept it was 76 degrees in there!!!! We spent an hr or more on our phones one night looking for other accommodations but being a holiday weekend we were stuck! So 5 nights of no sleep and dying when we were in our room! Owner was put out to even talk to us. Won't be back. And when they say they are open 9-9 they mean it. Kind of a bummer pool closes and you are asked to leave the area when itnisnt even dark yet. Below is the picture I took at 7 a.m. the morning we were leaving.

The guestrooms, suites, and entire property of the Sea Cliff House are regularly maintained with meticulous attention to detail. And while our beach house style and sea inspired motif may not always appeal to the tastes of those who prefer the typical corporate chain design — there isn't any aspect of the Sea Cliff House property that is dirty, rickety or substandard on any level. Our objective is and has always been to provide a distinctive, charming, and serene "home away from home" coastal experience. Our furnishings have all been hand-selected to adorn our property and our mattresses have all been recently updated. Daily housekeeping was provided prior to the pandemic. However, while Covid cases continue to fluctuate nationwide — we have temporarily suspended daily housekeeping within the guestrooms for the safety of our staff and our guests, with enhanced cleaning protocols and disinfection prior to the arrival of each new guest. We understand that some people prefer to set their air conditioners at a colder temperature. However, most standard air conditioners will not work at an optimum level when the outside temperature is significantly cooler or lower than the temperature set on the unit itself, which is what we explained to this guest. Yes, we do provide ambient lighting around the stairs and walkways to ensure visibility and safety for all guests during the nighttime hours with separate bug lighting to attract the insects away from our guests. Our pool and hot tub spa areas are open 12 hours each day from 9 am to 9 pm. The off hours enable our staff to properly maintain, clean, and prepare for the next day’s use. We understand that it would be great fun to enjoy these areas all around the clock, but for the safety and peaceful enjoyment of all guests — we must adhere to our regular hours for one and all. We’re never happy when a guest is dissatisfied for any reason and we’re sorry that this stay did not meet the expectations of this particular guest.

I surprised my wife with a weekend getaway to the Sea Cliff House. Good luck getting a room during the summer without a reservation at least a year in advance. That's okay with us though, we don't like big crowds anyways! We stayed 2-4 December when just about everything was closed for the season, but we didn't have to go very far to find something to eat. Not to mention, there was no traffic. We stayed in room #1 with a view of the ocean, which was spectacular. And it had a jacuzzi tub. The tub itself was dirty and we had to clean it before we used it. And in my opinion, could have used some lighting above it. Everything else was clean and fresh though. It is an older place so if you are looking for up to date and modern, this is probably not the best place for you. The bed and pillows were uncomfortable and could use new ones. The young lady at the desk was very courteous. Overall we had a pleasant stay.

This place provided a nice place to stay on our way to northern Maine and again on our way home. We stayed in rooms 7 and 9 on the second floor of the main house. The rooms were small, but clean and comfortable. Both rooms had a great view of the ocean (which is why we stayed here). The pool and hot tub were amenities we enjoyed and the staff was efficient and friendly.

Thank you for your question. The Sea Cliff House is at the quieter end of the beach, but it's only about a ten minute walk to the arcade from our property. As others have mentioned ... it is a nice walk for the adults, but a stroller might make it easier on the little ones.
Hello and thank you for your inquiry. I am the public relations manager for the Sea Cliff House. In answer to your question ... our grills are fueled by gas. The grills are a convenient alternative to going out when you just want to stay in beach attire and hang out by the pool or if you don't want to spend too much money going to restaurants every night.Â
Thank you for your question.
I'm sorry, but no ... we do not allow guests to bring their pets onto the Sea Cliff House property. While we do understand that our furry friends are valued members of the family, this has been a standing policy at our motel for many years. Our establishment is not set-up for pet-designated amenities or accommodations and without the appropriate provisions, containment, and capacity ... we don't want to risk any possible conflicts between incompatible or spirited pets.
If you are able to make other arrangements for your pet(s), please give us a call and we'll be happy to tell you about our guestroom and luxury suite options, as well as any current special promotions, check the availability for your desired visit, and answer any other questions that you may have. We look forward to hearing from you!
Hello and thank you for your question. Yes ... the Sea Cliff House pool is heated and maintains an average of 83 degrees.
If the conference were at Sea Cliff House you would be better off staying someplace else. At $250.00 a night (lodging plus loss of your deposit) is it worth the risk?
