Intle Game Lodge tranquil views of the Baviaanskloof mountain range and views of the Indian Ocean overlooking Jeffrey's Bay, is a beautiful piece of heaven 45 min from Port Elizabeth Airport (PLZ) and just before the famous surfing town Jeffrey's Bay and is also en-route to the famous Garden Route and Route 62 down to Cape Town. We stayed at Waterbok Suite, a nice big and comfortable corner room with view to sea and waterhole. This hotel is a luxurious, quiet place in a private game reserve with girafes, zebras and antilopes. We could watch zebras drink in front of the room by sunrise. Dinner and breakfast were great.
But: Wall between room and bathroom only separated by 2 m high frosted grass, not going up to the ceiling, so no protection from hearing and smelling in bedroom. Compared to other South African hotels/lodges at same luxury category, we would classify this hotel as rather expensive. However, we can recommend it.

The experience starts with welcoming drinks on arrival, robes and slippers in the rooms which are warm, spacious and airconed, beds are big and luxurious, you have your own balcony overlooking the pool and mountain range. The food was delicious and the staff were so welcoming and accommodating. We also went on a game drive and saw so many giraffes. Great experience overall and would 10/10 recommend.

The location is remote but absolutely stunning, and with giraffes, zebras, kudu and other antelopes roaming in the vast grounds and coming to the watering hole in front of the terrace - magical! The sunset was an added bonus..as if the sky were on fire. The boutique style (just 9 rooms) make it intimate and homely, but everything is done to the highest standard, and in the decor the attention to detail is incredible. Two small quibbles: Room and bathroom need more lighting. Last part of road to property is dirt track

The lodge is very attractive and comfortable. We wish we could give a much better review but we booked this lodge so we could go out on their game drives each day. When we arrived we were told the drives were 195 rand per person for 1 hour. All other drives we’ve been on are 2-3 hours. This is the first time we have been charged for game drives but we accepted it and went out a couple hours after arriving. About 15 minutes into the drive the vehicle broke down. ( they knew there was an issue before we went out because they had to give it a push start but then it died on a very steep hill and they were not able to get it going again. )We walked back up and another vehicle picked us up and back to the lodge. We had booked a 3 night stay so hoped for 3 drives at least and each day we were told they were we’re confident the drive vehicle would be fixed so we would be able to have at least 1 drive. We asked 2 times each day if it was fixed and no it wasn’t. So we were very disappointed. We were given no apologies no complimentary drinks no nothing. Oh but when it was time to checkout we had to ask to have the game drive charge removed from our bill! They actually had the nerve to have the 390 Rand on the bill! The husband and wife management team were both involved in the total situation and upon checkout they choose not to say a word about the circumstances. The food at the lodge was average no real complaints but each dinner of the 3 nights had mashed potatoes on the plate and each meat dish of the 3 nights had the same gravy sauce from the previous night. The room was very small but the staff kept it very clean. Beautiful location but they need to have a much greater awareness of the fact many guests are there for the game drives and they need to take better care to ensure guests get out to see the game or offer an alternative option or compensate for a massive disappointment.

This was our favourite stop off on our 3 week trip . Everything about the place was excellent . Efficient and friendly staff . Loved the stunning view from our room of the waterhole where animals came to drink. As there are no dangerous animals we were able to walk around the grounds and get close to Giraffe , zebra and antelope . Great food and overall very good value .

Amazing, Excellent, Outstanding, Intle Boutique Hotel was out of this world. From the service to the friendly staff. Not one thing was out of place, I made a last minute booking and they still went full Monty on our stay. Food was amazing and the chief is without a doubt top class! Like truly amazing and super talented! The housekeeping team and spa therapist were so friendly I felt part of the family. The Managment team is wow I mean they took the time to chat and make you feel like rock stars. On the trip I obtained a flat tire and the team changed it for me in no second…. I don’t think they even broke a sweat and hear I am complaining about how full I am….. first world problems. The game drive with the resident ranger who is one of the manager was super nice. He’s used to the big stuff and must have laugh at our excitement of the few animals they have. He was so informative.
Look….Food A+, Experiance A+, Rooms A+, grounds and property A+, Cleanliness A+, Staff A++. Spa which my wife had was nice too.
Would definetely recommend this Intle to everybody! It's a true reflection of how excellent hospitality should be run. We met the GM briefly but she was lovely.
We will be back for sure. Big thanks you to Cheif Denzel, my spirt brother Marcel and the lovely married Managment couple Ryna and Viljoen. Nothing was too much to ask. We will be back.

Intle is positioned for the perfect weekend getaway. The location on top of a mountain has bay and mountain views. The chef is amazing and the service is impeccable. We hiked and also booked the eco-drive where we drank sparkling wine among a giraffe herd. I highly recommend. Intle.

Intle was a dream. Everything felt so surreal, from their rooms to the food and the breathtaking view of nature. Their staff went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. A paradise with perfect bliss.

Hi All
Thank you for the answers that have been given by my wonderful guests above. You are all absolutely correct, we do offer game drives at an additional charge. However we do not have big five, as our primary aim is for people to be able to relax and also have the freedom to walk or cycle any where on the property while having a game experience. My apologies for taking so long to answer but somehow this question ended in my private trip advisor that I don't check very often. If you have any more queries please feel free to mail my email is on our website.
Regards
Tracy
