We are year round residents and hadn’t been in for some time. Checked out the menu before arriving and looked decent. That’s when it began to fall apart. We sat in the bar. The bartender/waitstaff were not overly friendly I guess they forget that some patrons actually live here even during the not so busy months and it pays to establish relationships when times are tougher. My husband ordered a draft beer and I asked for a Bloody Mary. Waitress replied, we don’t sell Bloody Mary’s. That’s a first ever for me as it appears they prepare other mixed drinks. just not anything as basic as a Bloody. We both ordered their large “authentic Greek salad”. The salad arrived on a large plate and literally had 2 halved cherry tomatoes, maybe 2 slices of cucumber cut into quarters, ONE ring of a Spanish onion cut into pieces, a couple of Kalamata olives, about a tablespoon of feta cheese with a sprinkling of capers. I had shrimp added to mine. There were 6 shrimp the size of a quarter. Thrown on top was a pile of Naan triangles that hadn’t even been grilled. It was a pathetic looking salad. It came with a price tag of $24.50!! Needless to say, we won’t be back. There are so many more delicious options for an actual meal in Bethel.

We have been here before and loved it! Cozy atmosphere, and great food! But stopped tonight and at 7:40 they said they were no longer serving food. Really? 7:40 on a Saturday night in peak ski season?

This is a welcoming, comfortable little B & B in Bethel. Welcoming hosts, sweet, clean rooms, a friendly pub downstairs all made for a really nice stay in Bethel. A good breakfast is included too, which made the stay even nicer. We will stay there again.

This Inn and Pub are simply fantastic! From the hands-on service at reception to the bar and dinner service, you will not be disappointed at this Bed and Breakfast style Inn. We were personally greeted by the owners and taken to our rooms to have everything explained which is a nice touch. Breakfast in the morning was included in the price and could be customized and timed for our convenience. All of the additional staff was very prompt and friendly. We had a great time chatting with the bartender and waitress throughout dinner. Live music accompanied dinner and was very good as well, a great touch! THe food itself for dinner was unbelievable. It was so fantastic, there is no question in my mind that you could get anything better for tens of miles all around. I felt as though we were eating at a 5-star restaurant and only minutes away from Sunday River, this Inn and Pub could not be a better choice for anyone looking to ski and stay in Norther Maine. Cannot recommend highly enough, especially for the price.

You can’t ask for much more than the Briar Lea Inn delivers. Excellent pricing, excellent service, good food and drink, and great proximity to Sunday River skiing. It’s very satisfying after a long day of skiing to clean up, walk downstairs to a nice dinner, and then be able to walk right back upstairs to rest. Everything you need in one place. And a nice home cooked breakfast is included. I’ll be back when visiting Sunday River.
