#1 of 7 Speciality lodging in Alldays
The lodge is situated in an oasis of Fever Trees, Sausage Trees and the ever present Mopane Trees. With the Mogalakwena River flowing in front of the lodge, with it comes an abundance of birdlife that can be seen by simply taking a short stroll through the lodge grounds. Limpokwena has over 350 recorded bird species which would keep any keen birder occupied for hours, with sightings such as Pels fishing owl, Saddle-billed Stork, African Openbill and Ground Hornbill. Along with the colourful array of bird species, regular sightings from the banks is a number of Nile Crocodiles that spend their day’s sun tanning on the shores, or the free-roaming Thuli Elephants who make their way across the Limpopo River from Botswana for regular visits! Other sightings include Giraffe, Eland, Gemsbok, Hippo, Hyena, the elusive Leopard or Wild dogs. Our pristine location means that the sightings are truly wild and unpredictable. Our lodge is best suited for family groups looking to get away for a while and regroup, or couples wanting to spend some quality time together in a tranquil and relaxing environment. Limpokwena is a small, unassuming lodge that prides itself on simplicity and appreciating the wilderness from a new perspective. All packages include guided game drives, and both catered or self-catering packages are available.

Hot temperatures, dry air and the warmest welcome we ever had in the bush. Comfortable chalet, brai ready to use, great drives and a very fresh and nice pool. Thank to our guests, we really enjoyed the accommodation, the chats with you and the staff and overall the peaceful atmosphere. Great place to discover! Thanks 🙏 Cheers

Response from Limpokwena, General Manager at Limpokwena Nature Reserve

Hi Claude, Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a kind review for us! So sorry the weather was a bit warm for your stay, but luckily we did have the swimming pool to make up for it ;) We're glad you enjoyed your time - you will be pleased to know that we have had some rain over the last few weeks since your visit and the river in front of the lodge has filled up! We hope you had a fantastic time in South Africa, and we do look forward to having you back in the future. Warm Regards, Syanne & Riley

I volunteered at Limpokwena for 4 weeks, and my biggest regret was not making that 4 months- I had the best time of my life thanks to the excellent hospitality provided by Syanne and Riley, and the friendly staff who I also worked with. Syanne and Riley made me feel safe and secure, welcoming me in to make me feel a part of their lovely family for the duration of my stay. I learnt new and exciting stuff every day, and they really went the extra mile to make this happen- contacting friends at the Endangered Wildlife Trust to experience ‘a day in the life’ there, organising events which enabled me to meet other volunteers at the town nearby (Alldays) and just generally making sure I got the most out of my trip. I was lucky enough to see 4 out of the big 5, and the highlight of my trip had to be the hyena call- up at night time in the Bush. I got to experience first- hand the practicalities of game reserve management, and the difficulties that come with it- burst pipes, broken fences and wrapping trees to avoid damage from the elephants. I also had the perfect amount of free time to relax and top up my tan! I will definitely be returning as soon as I can, and I could not recommend Limpokwena more. Thanks again

Big thank you to Riley & Syanne for the excellent few days at Limpokwena. Accommodation clean, comfortable and serviced daily. Make sure you stock up on food and drink before arriving. The communal kitchen, dining room, lounge are big and clean with an outdoors fire place for your bbq. There are more than enough space in the fridge/ freezers provided for all your food and drink. Riley is very knowledgeable and will make every game drive an experience. Camp located in the remote bush. Take your time and enjoy the experience. If nature and quiet spaces (limited internet no 3G) are not for you the reserve will not be an enjoyable experience.

My husband and I spent 6 nights at Limpokwena with our two young adult children - what a gift! The bungalows were comfortable and spacious and we had the use of a fully equipped kitchen and lovely dining area, as well as outdoor pool and deck and a number of other seating/viewing areas. We were totally spoilt by not having to wash a single dish and every evening, the fire was lit and ready for our braai after returning from our game drive - thank you so much Gloria and Freddie!! What really stood out for us was the wonderfully personal game drive experiences provided by the manager Riley. He was so knowledgeable and passionate about what they are trying to achieve on the reserve and truly went the extra mile to make the drives as interesting and diverse as possible. Nothing was ever too much trouble for him and we were treated to delicious coffee and muffins or Amarula liqueur on the banks of the Limpopo River. He even came up with a very innovative idea to assist our daughter with a school art project! We highly recommend spending time at Limpokwena and look forward to returning again one day.

We had a fantastic stay in this resort. The accomidation is in the middle of a game reserve next to the river. During the night it is posible to stay around a romantic fireplace on the deck or you can stand on several viewing platforms and see some game at night, we have seen elephants, kudu's and deers. The camp is surrounded by fences and gates, so the camp is a safe stay. There is a fully equiped kitchen and beautiful furnished livingroom. During the warm days the swimmingpool gives a nice relieve. The owners were very friendly and helpfull in every way. We have done multiple gamedrives and a walking safari. The owner knows the parc by heart and shows the most beautifull places and shares his knowlegde about the animals and nature. I would definitly go here again when it is possible.
