Our accommodation was born out of the necessity to preserve the old buildings on the farm. The Shepherd’s cottage date from the early 1800’s and is located right next to where the old wagon trail used to lead on the way to the Paardeberg. To this extent every cottage has its own story of a previous life and a different contribution to the farm. They are a very important and integral part of our history and everyday life. It is something that we cherish, and strive to make it as enjoyable as possible to every one of our guests.

This was a well equipped two bedroomed chalet with all you needed to cook a meal.

The staff were very friendly. The location was a little out of the way for our group, but I can see it being very central for others.

The farms were beautiful and we enjoyed our little ride into the nature reserve.

My only challenge was one having one bathroom between 4 of us.

Otherwise it was very clean

We've stayed for 8 days during April. It was absolutely majestic. The best part obvious is the tranquility. Another thing that we've enjoyed was me and daughter running through the vineyards. The only downside is that we cannot have visitors, because that we have family in Paarl in Wellington. I will definitely vist this place gain.

A huge thanks to Willem for the stay, We lived the cottage. The location is brilliant, nice and quiet and beautiful views of the farm and the vineyards beyond. The cottage itself was spotless and really comfortable, And was cleaned daily which was hugely appreciated. The only thing I would have liked is a washing machine, given it is self catering. But that is only very minor and would not stop me returning. See you again soon!!

This was our 2nd visit to Denneboom Vineyards and Wildlife and we will most definitely be back!

Ideally situated near the various wine estates for a day visit. Come back at the end of the day and enjoy the best of both worlds, a beautiful cottage with the vineyards on one side and wildlife (like blue wildebeest, eland and springbuck) on the other. What better can you get.

The cottage has everything you need to be self sufficient. If you need a restaurant on site or a busy location then this is not for you, but if you like to be private and on your own, and enjoy nature, then I am sure you will love it just as we did.

Thank you for another wonderful time! We will be back!

I‘m not coming back!
The surrounding of the cottage was great but the cottage itself was old and dirty. Many insects came in because we windows were not closing properly. We left earlier than planned. Next time, we will stay closer to Stellenbosch.

Thank you very much for the review. The guests demanded not to be disturbed during their stay. This had the effect that the cottage was dirty after about three days. This is not surprising, because the cottage is located inside of our wildlife reserve and is surrounded by open fields. Guests were advised to please shut the windows when the lights are on, as the insects in the fields are attracted to light. After they checked out, the cleaning team arrived at a cottage where all the doors and windows were left open and dirty items everywhere.

Location and nature are nice but
- the cottage was not clean
- the air conditioning was loud
- small and dirty pool
- the cottage was in a bad condition (loose windows and terrace roof which is really uncomfortable with so much wind, smelly sinks, no toilet brush, smelly fireplace)
- many insects came in due to loose windows

We left after 3 of 6 nights. The owner promised us to at least pay back one night. Then they never replied again. Would not recommend!

Thank you very much for the review. We would prefer that it be an honest review. The booking for the couple was made through a third party, which in turn handles all the payments. The guest did check out three days early, and when asked about their stay, they stated that it was lovely, but they would prefer to stay with their friends in Cape Town. Two days after departure he sent a message that they were actually not happy. They also admitted that it is not decent to complain after checking out, as it does not affect the institution to rectify any possible mistakes. The 3rd party booking service, looked at all their correspondence and complaints, but deemed it to be unreasonable and non-refundable. The guests demanded not to be disturbed during their stay. This had the effect that the cottage was dirty after about three days. This is not surprising, but you cannot complain about a dirty cottage when you stated that you do not want housekeeping to come and service the unit. Guests were advised to please shut the windows when the lights are on, as the insects in the fields are attracted to light. After they checked out, the cleaning team arrived at a cottage where all the doors and windows were left open and dirty items everywhere. This attracted a lot of insects and caused problems for the team that had to clean for the following guests. To finish off we would again like to state that this unit, is one of two historical cottages that is located within a wildlife reserve and is surrounded by open fields and wild animals. The cottages are all well maintained and if housekeeping was allowed to do their duties, there would not have been any problems.

Thank you very much for the information. When a booking is made through a third party agent(SafariNow), they handle all actions concerning that booking, including the cancellation thereof. We confirmed and processed a FULL REFUND to SafariNow, in favour of yourselves, on the 4th of January. They would have received your money on the 5th.Therefore your issue is with SafariNow. We stayed in the Stable cottage in the reserve. It was amazing, we had everything we needed. Well equipped, comfy beds, braai spot inside and outside. Awesome pool and aircon. Just brilliant to have buck and zebra right outside our door, nice and cool inside especially during December heat. Nice and spacious for 4 guests. I am so glad we found this place I would most definitely recommend it. Peaceful and not far from main attractions.

This farm is very pretty and over 200 hectares big. Walking in between the vineyards and olive-trees with no other sounds than the wind is a great getaway and still so close to Cape Town. The Vineyard Cottage we stayed in was or looked really new ( I think at least the kitchen was just put in) and it;s all of high quality. Our two boys enjoyed the cool blue-tooth radio they could use to play music from their cellphones on. This cottage does not have a fireplace which is a pity, but we made a fire outside in the private braai area. There is a splash pool as well as as a fire pit, you have to share these with the two other cottages next door. If you want to see the wild animals they keep on one part of the farm, you have to walk there or take your car. However, the Stable and Shepherds Cottage are within this fenced area and the animals can be walking around your cottage at night or in the morning. We will try to get one of these the next time. A great stay.

We were fortunate to spend a few days at Oude Denneboom. Wow what an experience and attention to detail. From chocolates on the towels to rusks with various teas and coffee. The peace and tranquillity of waking up in a nature reserve with animals eg. Wildebees; Springbok; Eland; Zebra etc roaming past your bedroom window. Wow. Amazing. Also we had our very own plunge pool. Real fantastic time had by all.
