#1 of 1 small hotel in NamibRand Nature Reserve

The Dunes Lodge is perched on top of a dune plateau, overlooking panoramic vistas in all directions & capturing the beauty of the desert. The building style is a combination of wooden structures and canvas blinds, opening up to the desert beyond. The lodge reflects the ambience of a tented camp, but provides the comfort and protection of a permanent building. Each of the nine spacious chalets with en-suite bathrooms has a private verandah, which connects you to vast stretches of untouched sand. Sleeping with your canvas blinds open is like sleeping under the stars. The main complex consists of two lounges, a number of sundowner decks, a fireplace, a tea deck, a library, the wine cellar and two dining rooms. The lodge also has a swimming pool, suspended above the sand. All communal areas of the lodge open out onto decks with superb views. The variety of recreational space makes a visit both exciting & relaxing. To make the most of your view, we recommend staying three nights.

After a long drive arriving from windoek, driving through moonlike landscapes, dunes and mountains: wolvedans lodge! Such a wonderful mirage. Not only the place is very special in the way is designed but the people are really what make this place even more magical. The staff is very attentive and friendly always with a big smile and ready to make your stay a unique experience. I had special dietary requirements and they were very attentive in providing me with tasty tailor made meals throughout our stay. The food was really good overall, they use freshly picked herbs and vegetables that hey grow onsite and the menu was really good throughout! Regarding the drives: if you are looking for a full safari experience , this is not your place as the animals variety in the desert is

Thank you for the incredible review. We have been working on a starry-night guide and a telescope would be a great addition to enhance the experience. Glad to hear you got to feel why our safari experience is so unique and incredible. We hope you have a wonderful rest of your journey and visit us again in the future. Sincerely Brendon

The mixture of fantastic views, food and service made our days at Wolwedans in November 2017 go by much too fast. The place is magical. The food is prepared perfectly. The day trip was crowned by lunch in the middle of the desert. We saw zebras, plenty of oryx, springboks and many other. We will definitely come again next time we visit Namibia.

You cannot fault the setting of this lodge. The views are amazing, the main areas of the lodge are beautiful as are the chalets. The staff are all very friendly and chatty. Our guide was helpful and informative. The food available was a let down. Breakfast was fine, no complaints. Lunch main course was a salad. The first day we stayed it was called a 'gourmet salad' but was really just lettuce with bacon. For dinner, there were no choices of dishes and while the first night it was tasty, the second night was unappetising chicken breast. There was meant to be afternoon tea with cake but this didn't happen both days. When we queried this, we were told the chef had 'just decided not to'. We also didn't get our early morning coffee for a very early start to go on a hot

Hello, Thank you for your review. I wanted to know the dates of your stay so as to follow up with our Operations team to find out about your experience. We strive for the best customer service at Wolwedans and I apologise for the coffee and tea service not being up to standard or existing in the case of the former. Our food is not a la carte and we ensure that tour operators and any guests that book directly understand there is a set menu for dinners and lunch. We are sorry to hear that you did not enjoy the food that we had to offer. Please respond with the dates of your stay, you can email me too at digital at wolwedans dot com. Sincerely, Brendon

This is an exceptionally well-conceived and sympathetically run establishment. We were met by our host who arranged everything we needed. We were shown around 'behind the scenes' where all the herbs were grown so that they were always freshly picked. The students' classroom where they are taught about customer care is always over-subscribed. The site was high on the dunes and very impressive. The food was superb and the service faultless. Several 'rooms' were available to the guests at all times and every one would look in place in a manor house. Library, coffee room, bar and general relaxing room each had its own charm. The pool was just another benefit and you could observe the wildlife while swimming! Do not miss this place and stay at least two nights.

This is a remarkable facility, situated on dunes but designed to have the absolute minimal impact on them. I arrived after dark and did not fully appreciate the remoteness of my lodging until shortly before sunrise, when a French Press coffee pot arrived and I woke to look around. Absolutely breathtakingly beautiful. As far as the eye can see, perfect desert, mountains and the occasional Oryx on patrol. The food and service are impeccable. The rooms spotless and comfortable.

Wolwerdans Dunes Lodge is amazing! From our arrival to our departure, every whim was catered for by the friendly, capable staff led by 'Terrible Selma' Our 'tent' was superb. Private, comfortable with panoramic views. Our guide, Mervyn, was great. Answered all out questions and happily shared all his knowledge. We were very fortunate to see a leopard jump from a tree beside the road, leaving his impala dinner in the branches. Magnificent sunsets, meals and dawn hot air balloon rides. Wonderful experience in a special place

We stayed for three nights at Wolwedans as our second stop in Namibia after landing in Windhoek. We could not have had a better stay - the place was amazing and the staff the same!! Warm and friendly is the right way to describe this place, it is quite small and you will feel like home.

We couldn't believe how great Wolwedans was. The tents, the smiling and helpful staff, the knowledgeable guides, the sunsets and sunrises and the stars. Everything was perfect and above what was expected.

Our night at Wolwedans was just amazing! We were warmly welcomed and had a delicious lunch. Then we went off on a dune/safari afternoon drive and enjoyed a glass of wine while watching the sunset! Arrived back at camp just in time for a scrumptious dinner and evening bonfire. The accommodations were outstanding, everything was clean & comfortable! The evening was cool but the duvets were warm & cozy. Oh, the stars were fantastic! Early morning wake up call (3:30 am) for our drive to our hot air balloon adventure. Then back to Wolwedans for a farewell yummy lunch. Such a beautiful start to our Namibian adventure. I HIGHLY recommend this gorgeous place. Thank you!
