The Dunes Lodge is perched on top of a dune plateau, overlooking panoramic vistas in all directions & capturing the beauty of the desert. The building style is a combination of wooden structures and canvas blinds, opening up to the desert beyond. The lodge reflects the ambience of a tented camp, but provides the comfort and protection of a permanent building. Each of the nine spacious chalets with en-suite bathrooms has a private verandah, which connects you to vast stretches of untouched sand. Sleeping with your canvas blinds open is like sleeping under the stars. The main complex consists of two lounges, a number of sundowner decks, a fireplace, a tea deck, a library, the wine cellar and two dining rooms. The lodge also has a swimming pool, suspended above the sand. All communal areas of the lodge open out onto decks with superb views. The variety of recreational space makes a visit both exciting & relaxing. To make the most of your view, we recommend staying three nights.

It took a near two hour flight from Johannesburg to Windhoek , and an hours flight South with nearly an hour’s drive East as well to reach this camp, nestled in the hills and dunes and it was worth every minute of the very comfortable travel ! I never thought that I would call the desert beautiful but that it is - Stunning and ever changing where ever you are! We stayed in the main camp which has many luxuriously tented bungalows on stilts, a great dining room , a couple of tastefully decorated lounges, a bar and a pool and for as far as the eye can see, an arid desert like landscape . We had several trips to one other camp and three evenings of Sundowners out in very different parts of the desert! The food is out of this world with fresh fruit, salads and vegetables

Thank YOU for choosing Wolwedans for the LCA conference! I recall the planning for this incredible event and the logistics involved in getting all the delegates from across Africa safely to this remote location. We were all very excited to host and pamper the conference delegates and we continue to speak about its success to this day. The team are always very excited by new challenges, however, when it comes down to it, we simply do what it is we do every day - inspire a new way of doing things. We have a name for it - The Wolwedans Way and we hope that you will return once again for us to continue to shower you with our desert hospitality. Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us and we appreciate your kind words, which will definitely be shared with the team, as they love to hear your valuable feedback.

This is the premier place to stay in the NamibRand reserve. For the duration of your stay you are allocated a guide who will take you out either for sunrise and sunset drives or a whole day drive. The environment is a Namib desert environment so it is cold in the mornings and evenings and hot during the day. The reserve has lots of different wildlife (antelope, zebra, ostrich, spiders, beetles, birds) and a spectacular clear sky so we saw Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn as well as the Milky Way, Scorpio, Alpha Centauri and the Big Dipper. In the first night we stayed in an ordinary suite and the second two nights we stayed in the Mountain (honeymoon) Suite. The ordinary suite is a good experience, you do game drives /activities of your choice and come together for meals in the

Thank you for this wonderful review of our desert-hospitality. I'm thrilled that you had a chance to experience the night sky in the NamibRand. Did you know that we are an International Dark Sky accredited Reserve? This means that we conserve our night sky by reducing light pollution. Our evenings are perhaps the most magical time at Wolwedans because even though the views are darkened by the setting of the sun, a brand new view is brought to light and the scene raises our guests' eyes to the sky. Thank you for taking the time to write this review and we look forward to welcoming you back to Wolwedans in the near future.

Wolwedans is different, not your every day safari, but well worth the time and money visiting. We spent 4 days there, slept under the stars to give our granddaughter a bit of out of Africa experience. it was good, glad we made the effort to visit

Great staff, fantastic food and amazing location. The Namibia desert was a completely new experience for us: the colors, scenery and wildlife, but also the light and complete silence. The night the lack of light pollution at night revealing the spectacular star speckled sky.

The surrounding scenery is stunning but the drives out are quite long particularly if you are just going out for a Sundowner. Our driver was very good at spotting things ( even a scorpion!) and cared very much about the environment. Our accommodation was excellent. It had its own lounge and plunge pool. It also came with a lovely cook and assistant (organised by our travel agent). In retrospect we would have preferred to have company to eat (we had no choice with the food and one steak I had was very poor). There was also a general bar and a pool for everyone to use. A great place to have a couple of nights on the way to Sesriem.

At Wolwedans, desert landscapes are everything. It is all around and all encompassing. It surrounds you and envelopes you. It becomes a peaceful cocoon that you do not want to leave. Accommodation is simple yet elegant; anything else would not sit correctly in the magnificent desert environment. Unspoilt dunes trodden by just you and a guide will lead you to the best sunsets you've experienced.

We spent three nights at Wolvedans on a trip to visit the NamibRand Nature Reserve. NamidRand itself is simply breathtaking in its harsh beauty. Wolvedans sets a high standard for applying sustainable practices to bring luxury to this desert environment. We toured the village and saw all that goes into maintaining a small footprint in this special place. Our first sundowners and sunset left us all in awe as we were driven through the dunes to arrive at camp to a beautiful dinner.

Perched on top of a dune with amazing vistas from the rooms and lodge. Hard to get to but worth the drive. It is hot. Expect sand everywhere and in everything you wear. Keep everything zipped in plastic bags at all times. Has indoor bathroom and hot water. Would give it a higher rating except for the staff which seems unhappy. This is the only lodge of the 6 we stayed in that had a depressing feel despite the superb views.

Thank you for your response. Sand is indeed everywhere. The Dunes Lodge is perched atop a 250m high dune and as we know, dunes are constantly moving, shifting and re-shaping. The sand is the first to say hello. With this said, Id like to acknowledge your comments about the 'feel' of the Lodge. We will address this immediately. Thank you once again for your honest feedback.

We stayed there for 2 nights. The best scenery probably in the whole of Namibia. Oryx and Springboks just walking around in the true beautiful dunes. We had very friendly staff and the food was good. If you want a nice place with a good atmosphere and beautiful scenery, this is a must visit!
