A forgotten land found far away from the big city lights, where we could connect back to the peace of nature. The Farmstead is ensconced between the mountains and water of Franschhoek. A carefully curated cultivation of self-catering child friendly lux-cottages. Farm stay luxury with six cottages; two four bedroom cottages and four two bedroom cottages. All rooms with their own bathrooms and each cottage with an outside bathroom. Secure, quiet and peaceful with mountain and farm views to come back to nature while exploring the winelands. Recently added a riverside deck for sunsets and picnics by the river.
We are an off grid eco-farm, we are powered by solar electricity, and gas heating, so we are not affected by load-shedding, we have a large battery bank and ample power storage however we still ask our clients to be conscious of our system.

We had the most enjoyable stay at the Ankole cottage with friends over the weekend of 24 - 26 November 2023. The cottages are spacious, fully fitted with everything you need from morning coffees to baking dishes and even though simplistic in style and nostalgic in energy, the details to everything, staff assistance and delightful hosts, makes for a very luxurious experience. We enjoyed fires and meals on the patio at night, walks and swims on the farm & river during the day and of course it's a short drive to the Franschoek village, where we enjoyed craft beers and live music at the market on Saturday. Wholeheartedly recommend this trancquil escape from the city!

We had a good wonderful stay at the Farmstead. Loved the eco set up and the little touches, especially the Fijn Botanicals amenities. The hens visited us every morning on our terrace and we enjoyed the complimentary eggs and bread in our welcome basket. Close to the town of Franschhoek and just a few minutes away from Boschendal.

Post wedding celebrations for a large group of SA family and new in-laws from USA. Couldn't have asked for anything better. Outside bathrooms are such a novelty. The fresh bread, eggs and farm butter were a lovely bonus!

What a lovely experience, comfortable accommodation in the country side. Weartger did not play along, however it was winter but loved loved the fire place inside as well as the fire pit outside. Breathtaking sunsets! Awesome experience with the family and will definitely be back!!!

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Farmstead, and really enjoyed the river views and nature around. The eco farm is well located, and quite close to the departure station for the Franschoek Wine Tram, an easy way to visit the surrounding vineyards. However, perhaps the only donwnside to our visit was that we had a misadventure with a broken glass and were invoiced 80 ZAR (approx 4€). A glass which by the way we broke while cleaning it... Charging for a broken glass seems a bit excessive considering the price of the accommodation (marketed as luxury accommodation). Given that none of the glasses even matched, the suggestion to simply replace the glass would have been appreciated (rather than an exorbitant invoice).

We stayed two nights with our two young sons (ages 2 and 5). Great location, but more of an airBNB type stay. The kids loved the in-ground trampoline and the chickens. The accommodations were good, but I think that for the value it was not as nice as other places in Franchhoek and Stellenbosch.

Short distance to Franschhoek and lovely farm setting with use of a pool and access to the river. Very comfy beds and pillows. Not quite enough cutlery and crockery for 10 people. We really enjoyed our stay.

We loved our stay, I would highly recommend the Farmstead. We were in a group of 7 and the accommodation was perfect. A short drive to the best of Franschhoek. It was a great place to relax and unwind.

My wife and I stayed there with our bridal party before our wedding at one of the vineyards in franschhoek, and we could not be more complimentary of the place. From the small welcome basket, to the magnificent views and complete relaxation, it’s a real hidden gem in that part of the world. This was also during one of the heaviest rain storms we have ever seen in that area, and the places were still a dream! Thanks to Warren and Jules for the most amazing experience. We have plans to be back for our anniversary at some point!
