Wild Ivory Big 5 Game Lodge is situated in Welgevonden Game Reserve in the malaria-free Limpopo Province, South Africa. This exclusive tented bush lodge is located in one of the ‘sweeter’ bushveld areas of the well-established Big 5 Game Reserve, right in the heart of the UNESCO Waterberg Biosphere Reserve. The pristine Waterberg biosphere is one of South Africa’s least populated areas and one of the best wildlife areas in Southern Africa. Apart from seeing the Big 5 (lion, leopard, elephant, rhinoceros and buffalo), guests at Welgevonden can also enjoy over 50 species of mammal and more than 300 bird species. The reserve is also well known for its rhinoceros and cheetah sightings. Wild Ivory is one of the few lodges in South Africa which is eco-friendly and has a low impact on the environment. Guests are accommodated in luxury tents with stunning views and spacious, well-appointed bathrooms.

We went to welgevonden at the wild ivory lodge. The lodge is perfect. Also the food and the staff is perfect. Also the view is really nice. Although the wild Life was disappointing. No chance to go off track and see the animals from a close distance.

On arrival at the West Gate we were a little frustrated as had failed to make contact with the camp on any of the 3 numbers provided and despite arriving on time had to wait 45 mins for the transfer pick up - seems the info provided was out of date (directions too if arriving from the north). This, we are assured will be updated for future visitors. But lets put that aside! From the moment we were picked up by our guide, Solomon, we knew we were going to have a great time! What a legend he is - a charming, charismatic man, passionate about the bush who wants to share his knowledge with you and ensure that you see as much as is humanly possible. His tracking skills are phenomenal and we were rewarded with some amazing lion encounters as well as plenty of other game. We

That was one of the best trips I have ever made. Excellent. The staff is very very nice and professional. The food is delicious, the driver was absolutely incredible. No words. The easiest 5 stars I have ever give to trip advisor. The tents are beautiful.

This place is, with only a maximum of 10 guests, exclusive and ticks all the boxes for a private game reserve lodge. The staff are very attentive and accommodation in the luxury tents was comfortable. During our two nights, we had 2 evening visits by zebra and bush pigs which came very close to our tent and made so much noise it woke us up. The game drives were very rewarding although the roads are bad so expect a bumpy ride and possibly not suited to people with back problems or mobility issues. The driver made a real effort to find us great, unusual game sightings. In particular we experienced a lion kill and a mother cheetah with her cubs. The food is very good but is a set course with no options. That said our two friends that joined us are vegetarian and they were over the

My husband, good friend and I stayed for three days and three nights and had an outstanding experience. We wanted to stay in one of the tents, but they wouldn’t allow it, even though there are enough beds. Instead, they had us stay in the chalet, which has two separate rooms and bathrooms under the same roof (ceiling completely open inside the chalet so there is absolutely no privacy, sound-wise), but in order to access the main living space and kitchen, you must go outside and enter through a third door. Doesn’t make a lot of sense and is not conducive to enjoying that space as a group. Additionally, there are no screens and there are tons of bugs, so doors stay shut all the time and it got quite hot, even when very pleasant outside. The regular chef was on leave for most of
