"Welcome to the Oasis in the Karoo. Loganda Karoo Lodge offers weary travellers the perfect stopover on their journey through the Karoo, and is an ideal location for those travelling from Cape Town to Kimberley. Loganda is a firm favourite with long distance road travellers. Looking for a weekend getaway from busy city life? Loganda is the ideal place for you. The outdoor swimming pool, pool bar / lapa and pub will help you unwind and relax while nearby attractions such as the Leuwensbos Fontein 4X4 trails and the Aquila Private Game Reserve (where the Big 5 can be seen on 4x4 safari trips, on quad bikes or on horseback), will keep you busy during the day. Hunting (at the Ibadi Game Reserve - Kudu, Springbok, Eland, etc), playing pool, darts and foozball are also enjoyable entertainment for guests. Air conditioners and DSTV are available, and the traditional Karoo dishes served off the a-la-carte menu are an absolute treat. Loganda is perfect for corporate or private functions and has hosted a summer beach, rock shows, dance parties, weddings and so much more.

All is said in the title, avoid this hotel. Hairs in the bathtub cleaning never done under the bed (full of dirt), could hear people in the reception and corridor all night. Have been attacked by mosquitoes all night. The person at the reception was very kind but that doesn't help to feel comfortable and sleep well (we haven't not slept much and wanted to quit this place asap)

Ad the arrival it was already clear: not the place to be! Unsafe unpleasant, old and even the curtains where broken and dirty. Decided not to stay and left. Not sure but must pay €50,- for this shack. Its a bloody shame that this is to be found On Booking.com.

So this is an odd hotel. It's clean, lovely receptionist, spacious rooms, BUT stay away from rooms by the pool - the noise from the bar is ridiculous. It's an overnight stop or a function venue (there's a lapa) but not much else. Meals are not offered unless arranged beforehand. For R660 per night it was ok.

Run down building, very basic rooms which had not been serviced. The restaurant could only serve their meal of the day despite an extensive ala carte menue. No vegetables or salad was available except for potatoes. Migrane causing music thumped on and on until 01:00 in the morning. The check out process took more than 30 minutes despite we were the first to leave. This is a dump, rather stay at Matjiesfontein down the road.

We stayed here one night (thank goodness) on our way north and had to stay somewhere as we were tired. From the start it was clear that we should move on but it was cold, late and we were tired. If I knew then what I know now I would have kept on going! The staff was from the beginning unprofessional and just sat around staring at us. The "manager" on request told us that they do have a room available for 3 people at a cost which one usually pays for a much better hotel. We had no choice, moved in and after asking for extra cups (2) as there was only 1 in the room was told that the kitchen is closed and he cannot provide us. The room was not clean, the water was cold and there was a continuous stream of water running outside the window into someones hydroponics experiment with about 8 lettuces in them Strangely, this was the saving grace of this dump! 200 kilometers away the next day after moving our car out of a dog poo invested backyard we were called and told that they have our id with them as they needed it when we booked in to make a copy. The joy we had to get this document back is another story. All I can say - stay away from this hotel.

What happened ? Stayed there 2 months ago and it was a pleasant experience. Friendly staff, nice room and the food was good. Decided then I will make this my sleepover when I return 2 months later. Not a pleasant experience at all the second time. My room just starting to look "run down" (too many little things that need fixing) I had to go and ask for a kettle , coffee and tea. Hour later I discovered there is no toilet paper so had to make the embarrassing trip to reception for that. Asked for the remote for the aircon as it was very cold. Got a remote with no cover over the batteries which had to be kept in by hand. Apparently I got a room with an aircon that actually worked. Then the big shocker no hot water. A man cheerfully told me at around 20H00 that an electrician is being called out and the geyser will be fixed soon. Now we all know how long it takes for a geyser to go from cold to hot. So no hot water really for me. Did the place change ownership or something ? Before I forget at least the staff was still friendly. I decided if the place has gone so backward then I better not try the food again. Hope the owners can get this nice place up to scratch again.

The carpet in the room was dirty. Loud music from the "ladies bar" inside the hotel. I've had better for 750 zar... (ex breakfast). They also forgot to book at the aquila game reserve for us, which they had promised.

We found the lodge staff to be friendly, the acaccommodation clean, no frills and cheap. The best part was the swimming pool where we could exhaust travel battered toddlers. Perfect for an early night and a early start the next morning. Unexpectes goos find in Touws River
