I chose this hotel as they had a shuttle that would pick me up at the airport. Literally, I could have walked to it too. Everything I needed, but during the pandemic their "modified" breakfast was just to go and the options were very limited. I've been to other hotels during the pandemic and they've managed to offer better breakfasts. But love IHG properties and I would return to this one. Guests infuriated me by not wearing masks.
I would say this was a good hotel that is close to the airport and interstate = easy to get there. Hotel decor was fine; some has been updated and some is still older. Rooms were clean; they do need some updating - couches were worn as well as the chairs. I don’t like the use of the wall shampoo / body wash; I feel this was a step back for this chain and I wish they would have maintained the smaller travel size for customers. With Covid they did a decent job of requiring masks in common area and provide you some if needed. The staff was very nice.
The décor and bed were quite reasonable. What we have here is a management problem. We paid more to stay at the Holiday Inn because they prominently advertised their free shuttle service to and from the airport. (Just go to door 7, according to the website.) When we got in and called, we were told you have to make a reservation to use the shuttle. There were no drivers available. When we finally got to the hotel, we checked in and went to our room. Surprise! Someone was already staying there! Embarrassing for us, but probably pretty scary for the guy in bed. The lady at the front desk apologized and gave us another room. She said the manager who had checked the man in hadn't used the software correctly and it had happened before. I understand hotels are working under new constraints, so they get a pass on breakfast. But an accurate website and adequate training for employees, especially managers, are pretty basic. Very disappointing.…
Not knowing what to expect, but hoping all will be safe,in this time of Covid, we stayed again at the Quad Cities Holiday Inn Express. The welcome and desk service was courteous. The morning 'breakfast' was pick up packaged muffins or danishes (all were tasty), microwave burritos, on, coffee, fruit, and a selection of yogurts. So not too different from normal. What I was surprised about is I didn't see anyone cleaning. I thought I'd be seeing more people cleaning surfaces that the customer would touch. I expected to see automatic hand sanitizer dispenser right by the elevators on every floor. I expected a small packages of sanitizing wipes in the hotel room. Good thing I brought my own since that what I used to get hairs off the remote and phone. We stayed there for 3 days and so did the dead bugs on the carpets on the third and first floor side exits. I'm not sure if they laid off many workers but they need more so they may clean more. Also, bring your own quarters if you need to use washer & dryer. The fact that they have a microwave and fridge is definitely a plus. I really like how they use dispensers now instead of individual tiny bottles for shampoo, conditioner, shower gel. Nice amount of towels. It's strange to come from a state that recycles it's paper, cans and bottles to ones that do not. Thank goodness for a good air conditioner. Finally, you will not find a hotel as close or more convenient to the Quad Cities airport anywhere. It is really just across the airport parking lot, a 5 minute walk.…
This was our second stay at this hotel. We had a one-bedroom suite that was perfect. The room was very clean and quiet. It's a great location that is easy to find. Parking is no problem. The staff at the desk was very accommodating. Because of covid, they couldn't serve breakfast as usual, but they worked hard to provide a nice breakfast for their guests. People had a choice of beverages, fruits, pastries, and even a hot breakfast sandwich. It was extra work for the people at the check-in desk, but they were very gracious and fulfilled every request with a smile.
