This is an older Motel 6 that clearly began as something else, then Motel 6 bought the building. Still, it was quiet, clean, the price was good, and everything works like it should. If your expectations are reasonable, this is a good, cheap, clean place to sleep and spend more money elsewhere.
The hotel is falling apart. Room is suffering from HUGE lack of maintenace. Ceiling cracking terribly, patches mediocre. Sink cabinet falling apart, pipes exposed. There was no wifi available during my stay. The exposed socket behind the nightstand only has one working socket. Room obviously does not get thoroughly cleaned
I booked a room same-day through Priceline at Motel 6 in Moline Illinois for 1 night. In the agreement it states the room to be a NO pre-pay room, but as I agreed to book the room online and got my confirmation email, I also got a notification from my bank letting me know I had been charged for the room. Well, assuming everything would go smoothly at check in, I didn't bother with it. Well, as to my surprise, I arrive at Motel 6 for them to tell me they had no rooms available and she would just have to cancel my reservation through Priceline, who had already charged my card for the stay. Motel 6 did nothing to help me find another hotel to stay in, and told me there wasn't anything they could do and told me I would have to pay for another room somewhere else. Instead of doing the courteous thing and putting me up in an equal hotel close by, told me their hands were tied and I had to leave. I immediately called priceline for a refund, so I could book another hotel, and they told me it would be 15-20 days. I ended up sleeping outside. If this is how we do business, you should be shut down.…
We like motel 6’s when traveling with dogs. This one did not even live up to our pretty low expectations. The bed cover was dirty. The sheets and towels were rough and harsh. The floor was carpeted- not a good thing. The carpet was dirty and sticky. The hallways were dark and dingy. We had to wait to use a key card because a bunch of men were hanging outside the door trying to get in without a key.
We booked the room via internet while driving, and stayed here for one night on a holiday trip back east. The reservation process was seamless. To summarize, IMHO, this building has reached the end of its functional life. The exterior doors do not close and lock automatically, which is a concern, although the neighborhood didn't seem too sketchy. The carpet in our room warranted foot covering at all times. In the middle of the night the plastic cover on the HVAC unit fell off and woke us. The HVAC unit worked, but lacked a decent thermostat so setting a reasonable temperature was guesswork. We weren't cold, at least. When we entered the motel hallway there was a pervasive stench of cannabis that faded to a slight odor in our room. On the plus side there was plentiful hot water and clean linens. The motel is pet-friendly and there is ample room for dog-walking. There was a Denny's adjacent to the motel for breakfast the next morning. I suspect the cleaning staff work hard and do the best they can at this place, evidenced by the clean linens and general tidiness, so my two-star rating credits those folks and their efforts.…
