The wife and I celebrated our anniversary here. First of all the hotel was amazing with friendly service all around. Kurt at check-in and Sto at the Hotel Entrance were especially great! The view from our room was great. In-room service and food generally was awesome too. They also made our anniversary feel special! Couple of things to note: If you're a light sleeper like I am, then the hotel being a 5-star could do better with noise blocking windows. Not only could you hear the crazy sirens randomly in the middle of the night, but also people zooming by on their vehicles well into the night. We were on the 8th floor but could also hear at times people whistling or random shouting from the streets. Secondly, the hotel's restaurant was closed Mondays and Tuesdays which forced us to order our breakfast in-room. I believe since we didn't have a choice the service charge should have been waived. Other than that, still a phenomenal stay, enjoyed the clean quiet pool and friendly service by all as previously mentioned.

Hotel's Favourite
Excellent service, beautiful spaces to hang out over coffee or drinks, truly amazing food (and this was the streamlined bar menu, an understatement, bc the restaurant has not yet opened for evening service), an incredible concierge (Philippe), and a location that is perfectly situated on the river. This is the only place I’ll stay for future Chicago trips!

The Langham Chicago has a perfect location right in the heart of downtown. The amenities, rooms and staff are exceptional. We were given adjoining rooms and they were nice to upgrade both. Thank you and hope to see this wonderful hotel again soon

I would not choose this hotel again. For the money, this missed on almost all levels. 1. Check-in. Despite booking a month in advance and then making the effort to email the hotel and reconfirm that the reservation would be for 2 connecting rooms, I was told at checkin this was not available. They had me stand in the lobby for 15 minutes with my 3 and 6 year old while they tried to “figure something out”. They actually offered me, as a potential solution, to give me ONE room with a pull out sofa. This was totally unacceptable and borderline insulting. The two connecting rooms were booked well in advance and with good reason- we were celebrating a special family occasion with my mother, who would be occupying the second room. Finally they found two rooms that connected but were not what I reserved and no compensation/adjustment was offered except for a minimal food credit. For a hotel of this class, a checkin experience like this is enough alone to make me never, ever stay here again and warn others to do the same. 2. Family-friendly/kid-friendly. What a disappointment compared to the absolute phenomenal experience at the Peninsula with young kids. The Langham did absolutely nothing to accommodate our young travelers; no kids welcome amenity, had to call down to request kid sized bathrobes, no kids bath products or board games offered (as they advertise). A total miss. 3. The pool. A mess. They are maybe trying to pretend they are managing covid protocols? Or maybe they’re just lazy? They said they limited capacity but no one was tracking said capacity. You registered as you entered. My husband, kids, and I went down to the pool and my mother was to join us in a few minutes as she got ready; we were allowed in and literally minutes later she was denied entry, forced to sit in a waiting area with total strangers in her bathing attire, and was told they had “just realized” that the pool had been well over capacity for some time. I attempted to exit so she could take my place and spend valuable time with her grandkids (she lives out of state and this was their first reunion since last winter due to Covid) and was told that if I left, they would let *someone else* in instead of her. What a mismanaged, poorly communicated, and poor experience. 4. Shower/tub. Had to have maintenance/engineeri no visit our rooms twice to address failures of these systems. Again, for this hotel class this is totally unacceptable. There’s more I could list but honestly, that I’ve even gotten to a number 1 is all you need to know. You can spend roughly the same money for a stay at better hotels in this class in Chicago, which is definitely what I’ll be doing in the future. Thankfully nothing could ruin our joyful family reunion trip, but I have to say the Langham came close.
