This is our 4th stay at Palmer House but first time for business. The hotel itself is gorgeous but truly the staff here is even more spectacular. Trina at the front desk and every other person who helped us were warm and welcoming even during extremely busy times during check in / check out. Highly recommend!

Hotel's Favourite
Hilton Palmer House is the oldest hotel in Chicago. After the Chicago fire, the ‘new’ Palmer House was inaugurated in 1873. Recently, it underwent a significant renovation that preserved the old charm while adding modern comfort. The ceiling of the great hall painted by a French painter is likely the most impressive of any hotel you could see (many pictures on TripAdvisor). Empire Dining room (used now only for special events) is known as the place where many famous American singers entertained. The hotel preserves many photos from a long ago era (see one below). There are a few larger suites including Bertha Palmer suite (a 2/2 suite with large dining/living area) with good views of the city skyline. During our two recent stays at this hotel, we enjoyed the romantic old times feeling and the excellent service. The location is outstanding in the heart of the city and the famous Loop. Easy to walk to the river and on the Lake Michigan shore. The Lockwood restaurant serves a very good breakfast. During a few days the restaurant was closed, we enjoyed breakfast at Goddess and the Baker, a very popular lively coffee shop just across the road on Wabash St. side. Strongly recommended, in particular for history buffs and romantics. If interested, read about Potter and Bertha Palmer history before going.

I recently stayed at the Palmer House Hotel in Chicago I cannot tell you what a wonderful experience it has been. Everyone that works there is so helpful and knowledgeable and a special thank you to both LaShawn and Jona for making my stay pleasurable and unforgettable! The Hotel is located in a great part of town where you can walk to a lot or hop on the subway system to take you around. It is unbelievable clean and the employees are some of the best I have ever encountered in my travels. I highly recommend if you are visiting Chicago to stay at The Palmer House.

The Palmer House is a splendid grand hotel that has been restored. It is convenient for doing business and provides relatively easy access to the convention center. Some rooms are showing signs of needing some maintenance. There is WiFi and when it works it is great but there are times it does not and that can be frustrating if you are trying to get some work done. The bar is splendid. There is limited dining.

Each year we come to Chicago for the Fabtech convention and insist on staying at the Palmer. Love the old school classiness, location, and supporting people We see year after year. Walking distance to Michigan ave and so many restaurants (especially Millers).
