Stayed 2 nights. They are remodeling and doing a great job. It was clean and the owner and the gal doing the cleaning were very sweet and asked how we were doing and if needed anything and then what could they do better. I enjoy staying in the local hotels/inns. The whole town is listed as a historical site. We could walk anywhere in town from the hotel. The mine tour starts across the street.

The Brooks Hotel in downtown Wallace Idaho is central to everything. Restaurants, bars, shops, coffee, grocery store. It’s also just minutes from Lookout Pass, where you can rent bikes for the wonderful Hiawatha Trail, which is why we were staying there. From this hotel, you can walk everywhere and we loved that! The hotel itself is mostly on the ground floor - the upper floors don’t look like they are in use. Our room was charming and comfortable - the only thing that was a little disconcerting (at least in the room we were in) was a sound like a generator or compressor that would come on for just a short time (30 seconds?) and then go off. It woke us up a couple times but after a while we didn’t notice it. We loved the ambiance and the casual vibe of the hotel and the area. Wallace is very cool. We’d go back!

We stayed last night and it was absolutely incredible! The attention to detail in the beautifully remodeled rooms made for a very luxurious stay. The beds are soft with high end bedding, the furniture is classy and the decor is stunning. The food in the restaurant is absolutely delicious and the staff at the Brooks are among the kindest and friendliest people we have met.
We will stay at the Brooks every time we come to town!

The front desk clerk was friendly and helpful. The location was great. The room however, left a lot to be desired. When comparing where we stayed to the pictures posted, we wonder if the photos were staged. We booked a room for 2 nights that would accommodate our family of 6. The room did have 3 queen beds, but the environment was scary. The carpet was old, worn and dirty, no dead bolt on the door, bathroom was filthy, dirt, grime and hair in tub and behind the toilet. All furnishings were mismatched, like thrift store finds. The window coverings were too small to cover the entire window and had to be secured closed with a hair clip. The only mirror was in the bathroom making it really difficult for 6 people trying to get ready. The town was scarce on restaurant availability, if you dont get out to eat early expect to be hungry, the town is in desperate need of workers. Overall the town and hotel have a lot of potential, but are in need of serious rehab.

This hotel , which is in the hands of family handed down is is dire need of renovation! The bones are there but the place NEEDS to go down to the BARE BONES and start again. I don’t know if the town of Wallace provides enough revenue for that project to happen possibly a government grant supporting the historical value of that structure. I hope at some point this hotel gets turned back into the treasure that it is

A happy shoutout to Brooks Hotel in Wallace Idaho! Clean, inexpensive and very accessible with the nicest staff you could hope for, a restaurant/lounge in-house and plenty of eateries and bars within a short walk. Our impromptu visit will lead to longer, planned stays in the future! The self check-in made arrival so convenient, and the “Americana” breakfast menu in the restaurant was the perfect send-off. 10 of 10 will visit again!

For the area, this is a great hotel! I stayed during the ongoing renovation, so I knew the entire place was a work in progress and I was fine with that. I did contact them to request an already renovated room and they honored that. The room was fantastic looking! They had me in a room with a separated bedroom/living room area. There was an actual table for 4, a countertop area with a microwave and a mini fridge. There was a TV in each area. The window was huge and the view was out the front, looking out on the main street area and mountains. The bathroom had a small issue with the door not closing all the way, but I assumed they just hadn't gotten around to fixing that yet. I was solo, so it didn't bother me.
In the morning I went down to the restaurant for breakfast but it was full. I asked if I could get an order to go and they were more than happy to provide. I got the waffle, which was delicious and huge!
This is a great place to stay as long as you keep in mind they are in the process of renovating the entire place. It is an old, unique building and will take a bit of work. The family I was visiting said they remember when it used to be apartments. Just see if you can get an already renovated room and enjoy yourself! It is right in the middle of Wallace, so you can walk everywhere in town.

The restaurant is fantastic. Our room nice and recently refurbished. It was very cute. The reason I am not giving them five stars is because there was only one space heater and the room was cold.

We would like to visit again in the summer as that would show off the hotel better.

I've never stayed in a hotel where hot water was not guaranteed, until now. We love the town of Wallace and will go back but never will we stay at the Brooks Hotel again.
First off the smokers from the bar below go outside your window to smoke. We were on the third floor and you could still smell the smoke.
But the bigger problems are yet to come.
At 9am we went to take a shower....no hot water.
I went to the front desk and the woman told me there was nothing they could do about it. She was rude and not accommodating at all. She agreed to take $25 dollars off the bill but she was not even nice about it.
So we get done taking two cold showers and I look at the towel I'm supposed to dry off with and there are brown stains all over the towel. Yep, brown stains the towel is filthy, never washed I'm sure.
When I went to turn in my key I was not happy. I took the towel and showed her and her face showed fear.
I didn't ask for anything and the woman looked super nervous.
So what's the first thing she says to me?
"If you'd been nicer I could have done more for you."
I couldn't believe it.
I said "when I came down about the hot water I was irritated but nice but now when I find a brown stained towel and you respond like this, I'm not nice anymore."

We will go back to Wallace it's a great town but do yourself a favor, find a place that guarantees a hot shower, and apparently that is not the Brooks Hotel.

It's sad the people who own it are trying to renovate the place and make it nicer and it is.....but if you can't treat people right, a remodel is not going to help you.
