Detailed Reviews
I have stayed at this hotel once before about 15 years ago, and enjoyed it then, spending a weekend skiing at Silver Mountain on my way to Cody, WY. This year I decided to ski Silver Mountain again, and the Silver Inn still had good rates and looked like the rooms were still nice. I was not disappointed with the room I got; very roomy, comfortable, with a large screen TV, mini-fridge and microwave (that I never figured out how to use - they need to have some directions!!!). The bathtub/shower was fine, and there was never a problem with hot water. The continental breakfast consisted of some juice in little bottles, coffee/tea, packaged sweet roles and muffins, and some energy bars, which is what I expected, and they were fine. Parking is easy, and there is room for trailers and RVs in the back of the property if you are in something other than a car or pickup.
Like most of northern Idaho, the residents treat Covid as a joke and feel that their personal liberty is being threatened by anyone who wears a mask or obviously socially distances. None of the staff I encountered at the Silver Inn wore masks or used hand sanitizer in my presence. Nor did the customers, clerks, food handlers or anyone else at the local supermarket or McDonald's. There is a nice breakfast joint adjacent to the Silver Inn, Sam's, but all dining is inside and NOBODY wears a mask, so I skipped it this time.
I would definitely go back to this hotel in the future, as it provides a conveniently located, fairly priced, clean and comfortable place to stay for a few nights.
Besides the general aversion to taking any precautions concerning Covid, I would say to watch out for the "Resort Fee" that they tack on to your bill. It was only $3/day for my room, but neither I nor the front desk clerk could tell me what it covered. There is no pool, spa, sauna, workout room, dining facility or anything "resorty". Parking, wi-fi or the continental breakfast? Nope. Silver Inn states tat these are free. How about the room servicing? Nope. In order to save money, the Silver Inn states when you check in on the piece of paper that they hand you that there is no daily room refreshing/cleaning/wastebasket emptying "due to Covid guidelines". Huh? It's the only thing that they appear to do to reduce the incidence of Covid, and funny thing, it probably saves them a lot of money. I didn't mind that nobody made my bed each day (I am a big girl and can make my own bed), but the wastebasket is really quite small, and I had to carry it outside to a larger waste receptacle for smokers just outside the door to empty it twice. Kind of a pain! I also asked if staying at the Silver Inn got me any discounts with the Silver Mountain ski resort. The answer was no. So...what did the "resort fee" cover? Absolutely nothing. It as just a way to pad the bill or to make the room rate appear lower to search engines.

We were looking for a place to stay while we were traveling and it was a Friday night so everywhere we tried was either booked or terribly high priced. A friend told us about The Silver Inn so we called and yes they had rooms. We found out why. I can’t say it was bad but it wasn’t that good either and I think it was over priced. They gave us a room on the interstate highway side and with all the trucks going by it was hard to sleep. We had asked for a room on the other side of the building but they wanted MORE money for it.
The free breakfast was a joke.

We were in room 28 on the back side which was extremely noisy due to traffic. The inn was sold out so we could not switch rooms. If you want a hair dryer, you will need to go to the office. Coffee in the room was much better than the coffee in the lobby. Coffee in the lobby was awful.

My husband and I stayed two nights at the Silver Inn while on a bicycling vacation. The Inn is close enough to the Trail of the Couer d’Alenes to ride by bike from the hotel. Check-in was easy and we were thoughtfully given a first floor room to allow us to move our bikes in/out easily. The room was very nice; recently remodeled with new A/C, comfortable bed, and was remarkably quiet given its proximity to I-90. We were even treated to a 4th of July fireworks display out our window! We will definitely stay here again if we travel to this area.

Better priced than others in town. Plenty of free parking. Room was good size, air con was efficient and not too noisy, had all the usual amenities, shower pressure was good, and room was clean. Breakfast was bagels and grab and go options, which was sufficient for our needs. Only negative for us was we were allocated a pet room ( no pets with us) and the smell of 'wet dog' was overwhelming and set off my husband's allergy. They did offer us a cancelled room later in the evening but we had already showered and were in bed at that time, so persevered with the original room. We should have remembered to ask for a non pet room. The fact we were in one also meant we had a dog barking during the night and one growling and barking at us in the corridor in the morning . However, overall a good stayand would recommend

This was a good option for a quick stay on our trip. Nothing too fancy- for example, the breakfast was very limited and was meant as either to-go or to be eaten in your room (nowhere to sit). However, the front desk staff was friendly and the rooms were clean so for the price, I thought it was reasonable!

This little hotel met our needs- mini fridge, microwave, super clean! Kellogg is 1/2 way between home and Yellowstone, so we were looking for an affordable option. The location is convenient. I’d compare this little inn to a Best Western, where we usually choose to stay when we travel.

We hooked last minute on a road trip. The room was clean, updated, beds were comfy, nice sheets. Micro and fridge worked. The breakfast was just a few things in the small lobby but Sam’s Diner is next door and it was delicious. Great place for a quick stop

Yes, too bad I didn't read other reviews first. Gosh, you'd think they'd try a bit harder based upon them. First thing I noticed was that the pillows on the bed had the awful smell of fabric long-used and unwashed. I'm guessing the linens may have been washed (??), but that the pillows were so old that they retained the body odor of many others over many years. Ugh!!!
Then I found hair in the tub's drain filter, leading me to believe the tub must not have been cleaned after the last user. Finally, I noticed a large dried bright yellow puddle at the back of the toilet seat; AND, upon further inspection discovered the rim around the toilet had not been cleaned after a previous user had some kind of explosion. More ugh!!!!!!!
When I brought all of this to the attention of the person at the desk, they were more into denial rather than being supportive or thanking me for the feedback. Also, although there are non-smoking rooms, the smell of smoke emanating from the front desk area is unmistakable.
Yes, the restaurant food is very poor--plastic cheese on your burger and WAY too much salt in your soup. Oh, they say they have wifi at the hotel, but it does not work.
