We needed a place to stay close to Groblershoop and we found this Gem. The view from our cottage was fantastic. The road to get to the cottage starts off looking a touch dodgy (mainly since we took a wrong turn and drove past the staff quarters), but once back on track we found the place easily. The staff were friendly and helpful and even though we arrived late we were made to feel welcome. The rooms are clean and fairly rustic, but well equipped with everything one could need, (including an aircon). Would love to come again and spend more time and relax....

We were blown away when we arrived at Slypsteen for an overnight stop. The view is beautiful, the two chalets were clean and well equipped, both with air-conditioning and satellite television, not that you will need the latter. I would really recommend stopping over for more than one night, you can really switch off and relax in this environment. We will be back, no question.

We stayed here for a night on our way to Augrabies. Ryna was a kindly and welcoming host to her beautifully designed and laid out Guest chalets, on top of the rocky koppie. Below us was the fertile fields of a farm which lay next to the Orange River, dassies stretched out on the rocks around us watching our every move - and an almost "Infinity pool" too, providing us with plenty of photo opportunities.

The Chalet, we had was very attractively decorated and very clean. All the mod cons we needed were in the house , we watched a nights worth of TV and then had a comfortable, snug nights' sleep. The kitchen provided for all our needs and we cooked ourselves dinner that night. Though the cooking area was a bit dimly lit for our not so young eyes, we managed. The bathroom was well kitted out, in keeping with the rocky environment & very user friendly. It was an inspiration how the local stones could be used creatively.

It was a great experience and if I am ever in the area again, I will definitely go back to stay there again!

Something funny happened when this place was built, somehow they managed to make thatch buildings boiling hot….
There is aircon, but only in the bedroom, and it only helps if you leave it permanently on the coldest setting. We were booked into the small house, which we discovered was infested with giant geckos, pooing on the bed and crockery and cutlery. We asked to be moved to a different room, which turned out to be a little better, but not much. There were also rat traps everywhere, so obviously, there is a major vermin problem. The pool was a blessing, because it was 40+, but the pool area could use some work. The owner accused us of not paying, and stealing her tablecloth. The payment was done as soon as she sent us the bank details and she probably didn’t receive the pop immediately because there was little to no cell reception (which had already been a problem when I tried contacting her on arrival). The tablecloth we put in a draw, as it was in the way. Maybe if the place was cleaned properly it would have been found. She was a very strange lady and seemed to not be sure how to run a guesthouse.
This was our 7th stop of 8 around the country.
We felt this stay was very overpriced.

We were two families that stayed over 2 nights on our way to Namibia. We had to drive through town as the gravel road was not in a good enough condition for normal cars. This added extra travelling time which was not planned for although I requested detail directions before the time which I did not receive. The cottages are well equipped and I could fit my big family into my unit without a problem.
Some maintenance is needed and the water pressure to the showers were very low.
The swimming pool was a highlight as well as the sun set views. The units was priced well.
With a bit of attention and focus on customers, this can be a must stay for this region.

The unit was priced well and on the internet it looks like an awesome place, but I was disappointed, the air-con does not cool the place down, the heat is completely unbearable. The pool area was nice and we could cool down by having a swim.
I would recommend to the owners to put a door up between the kitchen area and the bedroom so that the air-con can cool the room down, I would also recommend putting up some shade netting around the units to keep the direct sunlight off the rooms that will help to break that direct sunlight from baking the units.

We were traveling to Windhoek and stayed over in Slypsteen lodge. Wonderful rooms absolutely brilliant dinner. Could not have asked for better.
Rooms have a great view across the vineyards towards the Orange River.
I would definitely recommend this establishment. Just ensure you don't eat anything before you arrive as the food is plentiful and delicious.

My father and I were looking for a place to stay on our drive from Windhoek to Plett and were lucky enough to discover this gem of place! Absolutely wonderful place. Spotlessly clean, warm and efficient. I can honestly recommend this place wholeheartedly! Thank you so much and we will be back!

Really enjoyed the setting. Panoramic views of the surrounding farmland and river. Loved the big windows and light. The cottage was well appointed and the fireplace and free wood was lekker. Worth the stop!

Rustic but comfortable accommodation with all the necessary amenities. Stunning views over the vineyards and farm lands down to the Orange River. Because we were riding motorcycles and it was a long weekend we were unable to bring our own groceries. The host more than impressed us with the braai "packs" and side dishes that were supplied on special request. Each night the braai meat arrived pre marinated with a typed menu together with stunning side dishes and a home baked dessert. More than we could finish. We ordered breakfast and this too was well catered for also with a typed menu and not the usual egg and bacon. Laundry was also done on request. Definitely worth a stop over if you are travelling to the Northern Cape. Wine can be purchased at the nearby Oranjerivier Cellars in Groblershoop.
