We arrived mid-afternoon and received a very warm welcome at this very secure and safe home from home one night stay before our very early departure the next morning to the airport.
We basically had the whole of the third floor to ourselves including the outside terrace with views out to the sea and a chance on our return from the restaurant to enjoy a glass of wine watching the birds and the large ships anchoring out near the port of Durban.
We thoroughly enjoyed meeting the two beautiful people, their home but it felt like the old saying, me casa y sou casa, this was a very relaxing stay.
We were recommended to visit the Beach Bums restaurant close by and did have a very good seafood meal, sat on the beach listening to the sea rolling in.
Clean room, with a small terrace but like I say we had access to the main terrace.
the next morning at 0500hrs we were even offered coffee before leavibg for the airport, some 12 minutes drive away.
Excellent value for money.
Very convenient location, very quiet location, very safe and excellent hosts, thank you.

What a wonderful place to stay and spend quality time.
The guesthouse has amazing rooms whith wonderful sea view, the owners are very nice, extremely caring and the breakfast (which is more like a brunch) is to die for.
I can highly recommend this guest house where you get real good value for the money.

Great place to stay for a quick stopover near the airport. The hosts are incredibly friendly, welcoming and lovely people. They were very accommodating of my early check in and then very early departure the next day. The room was clean, spacious, and had a gorgeous view of the ocean from the deck.

Terrific place to stay! Ideal for our purposes this time as its close - but not too close - to the airport, but I'd be happy to return to use it as a base to explore the East Coast. (We're not the type who would want to stay in the city - visit, yes, but escape to the outlying peace and quiet for the night. La Peng would be perfect for that) Yes you would need a car - but car hire is so cheap in SA and you'd be lost without one anyway.
Our hosts were brilliant: welcoming, friendly and full of great ideas to explore on a longer stay near Durban.
Room was clean and comfortable with a fridge - very useful for cooling sun-downers to enjoy on the balcony with its exquisite view of the Indian Ocean. (Close enough to enjoy he sound of the waves!) What a sun-rise!
Have to mention breakfast: very varied continental style buffet - just what we wanted after weeks of cooked breakfasts! Food was excellently prepared and beautifully presented. (Suppose it helps to have spent years as a top international chef !!!) Thank you.
Would definitely return to the East Coast of RSA and can't think af anywhere better to stay after a flight into Durban.

We chose this place because it is in a convenient location near the airport, and by the beach, we didn't expect much, we just wanted to sleep 'til late.
However, we were surprised by the service provided by the owners, they took care of every detail and offered things that were not part of the deal. For instance, we have a portable braai and started to grill some meat on the balcony. Normally we eat like cavemen, we don;t really carry niceties like plates and cutlery, but when the owner saw what we were doing he brought plates, cutlery, serviettes, wine glasses; it suddenly became a fancy dinner!
The only problem was the water shortage, which was not their fault, hopefully it's rained since then and the dams are full.

This is the second time I have stayed at La peng, Both times I have been well looked after by Dorothy and Alex. The guesthouse is located within 15 minutes of the airport and makes a perfect stopover location. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they always make a point of taking good care of their guests. We had a great time in durban before we moved on and would definitely return. The rooms were clean, tidy and comfortable. Thanks again Dorothy and Alex, look forward to seeing you again soon.

We were only able to sleep there, as we got in late and had to be gone by 6:30 in the morning. Room was great, bed comfy, nice pillows, everything you needed was there. We arrived late and had not called ahead so took some time for host to answer, we should have called and said we were arriving at 11:30 pm. Even with our early departure and late arrival the host was up and served us a great breakfast. We would of liked to have stayed to enjoy the place

We stayed here as we were on our way to Drakensberg following an overnight flight from the UK. Conveniently situated close to the airport with great views from the upstairs terrace. The hosts (Alec and Dorothy) are lovely, very welcoming and make you feel at home. Great breakfast sat on the downstairs terrace. Really enjoyed our stay

A short stay in Durban to connect my flight to Johannesburg. The guesthouse is conveniently located 15 mins away from King Shaka Airport, overlooking the sea. I asked for airport transfer service which the host was very prompt to pick me up in his Mercedes, plus it is reasonable rate. The bedroom is nicely decorated with amenities, clean and comfortable bed. The bathroom is clean, with warm shower. The view from the room and balcony is breathtaking, good wind and very breezy. The room rate comes with breakfast. My flight was early in the morning, so the host nicely packed full-size sandwich, yogurt, fruit juice, muffin and apple for me, very thoughtful.
The place is also 15 mins away from the microlight airfield and the mall. I used uber to go to the mall, about 115 Rand, it was ok also.
Overall the stay was very impressive and will come back again when in Durban.
Highly recommended
