Cuscowilla is an amazing and beautiful community on lake oconee. Cuscowilla is a laid back , private community that has all of the best amenities of any country club around. Challenging golf, wonderful restaurant, incredible views and fun community. Can’t wait to return!

Every step you take someone is sticking something in your face. Menus, massage, art, trips,, chahkas, etc. It’s obnoxious, and disturbing. I get people need to make a living, but just too much. Ruins the magic of Cusco.

Lovely and clean villa. As someone mentioned before in a review, it was a rainy weekend and the room seemed dark. The room looked out on the golf course and had a great lanai. The lanai was partly covered and we were staying by friends so we just used their side that had a cover. Caution, if someone has trouble climbing stairs, get the villa suite. The regular villas are up a long flight of stairs.

The most frustrating thing was lack of an adequate amount of toilet paper and there was soap only in the bathroom sink and little kitchen/coffee sink. There was no soap at all for the shower. We had to carry the two soaps from one area to another. The next day I asked for more soap and toilet tissue. We got a small roll of tissue and no more soap. Bottom line(pun intended)bring your own tissue and soap. We heard this from others also.

We went with our family for Fourth of July weekend. We stayed at nice cottage, but through AirBNB and they restaurant and staff at Cusowilla treated us like dirt. The pool charged us $5 a person each time we walked in ( yes we went twice a day that was $10 a person), did not matter we had nice size lunch and bar bill. They people running the pool are auful they were mean and lacked even common curtesy. Worse yet, I sat and watch them let children ( maybe teanagersd, but under 18) bring in and drink beer. One maybe 16 year old was trying to get others to drink and approached a young girl, asking if she wanted a beer, she – respectfully said I am only 14.
The place is to be avoided like the plague. While the Grounds are nice the amenities are a arm and leg, and they make you feel like dirt if you rent AirBNB.
Food and Service was terrible. We had new staff – two mornings, and we ha to ask for things over and over again. Had to ask to fill water glasses over and over again. One meal did not come out, and she never checked on us or the food. Dirty dishes stayed on table much too long between courses. Almost like waiters did not care about our table or us and or was distracted by her friends who she was always talking. Will NOT go back

From the moment I arrived at Cuscowilla, I knew after reading the other reviews that I was going to have a similar experience. When I got to the guard gate, I told the guard that I was "checking in". The guard replied by asking the reservation name - he could not find it. I explained that I was staying for a wedding on the grounds, to which he replied, "you should have just said that in the first place"..??? Um, ok?. I then asked which way to the check in office, to which he replied - "follow the signs". It was about 8:30pm so it was dark, and what signs they do have are microscopic and have several lines of text that you basically have to pull over to read. Not one sign had anything that said "hotel check in, front desk, arrivals, etc..." I took a chance and turned right which got me to The Golf House Grille - the only building with lights on. Went in and up to the bar and asked the bartender where I'm supposed to check in - she did not know, but got her manager. The manager then asked the reservation name and then went back into the kitchen - I assume to make a phone call to find out where she was to direct me. She came back and said - you need to go to the conference center..Um, OK??...Went over to the conference center which was across the street and was finally able to check in. I explained to the woman at the desk the issue that I had just been through, and not knowing where to check in and having, by this time, three employees who couldn't tell me where to check in. NO apology, just here's your key and a map (as other reviewers have mentioned). I was staying in the Lodge Studios, and when I got to the room, it was pitch black and had to use my cell phone to find a light switch..turned the switch, and ....nothing - no light. Turned on the bathroom light and only one out of three bulbs worked. Between the beds, there was a light which I was able to turn on. This was the only light in the room, which made it very dark (as other reviewers mentioned). Went to the phone to call "the front desk", which is labeled as "0" on the phone. Called and all I got was a busy signal. Dialed the code for the Grille, and again only a busy signal. Obviously the phones aren't programmed as the phone menu indicates. I looked up the number for Cuscowilla, only to get a recording and a voicemail. The entire stay was completely ridiculous; I'm not sure who runs the resort, but a four year old could do it better. As far as the food - we ate at The Golf House Grille for brunch and it was great! My stay was for a wedding, which was very nice. All in all, a great weekend but the accommodations and check-in debacle were unacceptable for a golf resort.

On arrival - after a 6 hour drive - check in staff were disinterested and unhelpful. We were given a key and a map and no further information. Unfortunately, our 'villa' adjoined another that was occupied by the noisiest family we have ever encountered on holiday. Be warned - walls in the villas are paper thin. The staff in the golf shop were rude and unhelpful but the girls in the attached bar/restaurant made up for the poor service elsewhere.

Response from Cuscowilla, Public Relations Manager at Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee
Responded 13 Jul 2015
Dear at7201, Thank you for recently staying with us and for taking time to leave us a review. We are very disappointed to hear that your stay did not meet expectations, and please know that we are using feedback regarding our front desk to make changes in order to have the check in experience be more helpful. We are happy you enjoyed the Golf House Grill service staff. We are working to make sure the rest of property strives to provide the same great service. Best regards, Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee

I can forgive the crappy time-share accommodations and bad banquet food cuisine, but I resent having a mediocre wedding band playing directly outside my window at midnight with an early flight to catch tomorrow. Front desk, security and the restaurant conveniently not answering their phone.

Took 10 couples here during Master's golf week, housing the group in 4 golf cottages right along the course. The grounds were perfect, the cottages stunning and well stocked, views fantastic....it was a dream. We ate several times at the on site restaurant, and the food was very good. An angel named Jamee Mickler welcomed us, and greeted us like old friends. We were supposed to have been handled by a lady named Kelly Somogy, who told me she was our group coordinator, however she never appeared or even called during our 4 day stay there....thank goodness for Jamee. All in all stay here....its a dream place for golfers and less than half the cost of the overpriced Reynolds Plantation.....and deal with Jamee during your group booking

PROS: Quiet, not crowded, beautiful lake, good location - close to lots of restaurants, stores and the Ritz, golf, good restaurants on site, less $ than the Ritz
CONS: Not luxurious, no spa or fitness center, grounds not as manicured, staff not as sophisticated, no room service.
We stayed here recently, looking for a place for a quiet weekend on Lake Oconee. We have stayed at the Ritz before, but were looking for something different, less crowded. It was definitely that. We stopped at the small reception house and were told that our unit had been cleaned and was ready. We had reserved a 1BR lake villa. The property has a mixture of single family homes and condos. When we visited, they were constructing a wall by the lake in front of our cabin. The cinder blocks and port-o-let in the lakefront yard was a bit of an eyesore, but the lake was beautiful and it was uncrowded and quiet. We upgraded to the 2BR villa because the floorplan was more open and spacious, and the deck overlooking the lake was more substantial (I included pictures of both). The rooms were serviceable and comfortable enough, but not luxurious like the Ritz. There were water stains on the ceiling and dust bunnies under the bed. To be fair, we weren't paying Ritz prices, either. We paid $450/night for a 2BR cabin (1BR was $215). In the 2BR, we had a full kitchen, living room with fireplace, two bedrooms with two full sized beds each, two full baths and a washer and dryer. The 1BR had a kitchenette with a mini fridge and microwave, sitting area and W/D. The golf course was nice - natural, not manicured, but we liked that. We saw deer and lots of squirrels during our round. The golf staff was very accommodating and we enjoyed some delicious soups from the golf grille to take with us on the course. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. We did slip off to the Ritz for massages and to use their gym. The Ritz is about a 5 minute drive away. They were very busy, though, which made me glad we chose the quiet of Cuscowilla.

Everyone immediately thinks of the Ritz Carlton when thinking about luxury lodging at Lake Oconee. Cuscowilla is where everyone should turn their attention. Rustic, a little out of the way, but beautiful and serene. The golf cottages, the lake villas, and lodge villas are luxurious with extraordinary views of the lake or the golf course. The pricing is SOO much more reasonable than the Ritz. The restaurants were superb and the staff were incredibly solicitous and helpful. I WILL be back as soon as time permits
