The rooms are very clean, comfortable beds and mini fridge in the room.
The restaurants are a god send for Lephalale, the ocean basket is a nice slightly above average fish and chips place (seeing how far it is from the sea, the fish is great) and the restaurant inside the hotel is great with a lot of options and even has a wood fired oven for pizzas.
Breakfast is superb, lots of options, staff are all very friendly, the whole place is spotless.
*This is listed as a 3 star hotel, it most certainly is not, easily a 4 star.
When we arrived at the hotel, we were shocked to see the extent of the devastation. Everything except the motel style rooms was gone. The reception was now set up in one of the guest rooms (No. 9). It was such a pity because I had heard so much about how great the restaurant at this hotel was.
The Wi-Fi was terrible and only worked a couple of times, very late at night, over the week or so I stayed there.
The room I stayed in had a 2 inch gap underneath, which allowed all sorts of creepy crawlies to enter my room throughout the day. I spent a while each night hunting them down. The room was very close to the main road, it was extremely loud and found difficult to sleep. There was a path for the staff past my small patio; so many people would walk past my room all the time and look in through the window. Air con was so loud, I tried to use fan, but fan did not cool enough.
The ocean basket breakfast was very limited. A bowl of cereal and a glass of juice every day but if you are lucky a piece of toast with tinned tuna on top. Ocean basket cannot serve meat products.
The maid seemed to do a good job cleaning around the bed. (It was really dirty under the bed). The bed was made with the duvet opening at the pillow end of the bed, I know it’s a small thing, but it should always be at the foot end of the bed. It means that if the creepy crawlies enter the duvet cover they do not crawl out into your face in the middle of the night.
I only give you the facts; you can make your decisions.
I would stay at Machauka Lodge if I returned to Lephalale.

The best hotel in Limpopo Province.
