Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
Booked the Regency for a 2 night weekend stay for a nearby sail regatta, with many other places already sold out or super expensive. Was on the fence based on mixed reviews but my son and I were pleasantly surprised. Basic place, nothing special but it was clean and we had no issues - it exceeded initial expectations. Had a first floor room. All items in the room were functional, adequate linens and toiletries provided, plenty of hot water, AC was effective (a little loud but not an issue for us), and in-room mini fridge. Doors locked safely, only issue was one of the front window screens had a hole in it but the glass was locked and secure. Staff was friendly in the office and helpful. A little noise from folks up late outside on Friday night, but also due to an older building it's not surprising. Noise wasn't an issue. Not sure if some folks live here longer term, but there were plenty of overnight guests of all ages. Close to downtown, airport, etc. and easy to get to. Value only shown as "average" because everything in this area seems over priced...but that may just be Sarasota in general.

We stayed in one of the suites for one night while passing through. At first glance everything looked spotless but after walking around the room for a little bit our feet were completely black, so it makes you question how clean everything else is. There is no way the floor had been touched for a very long time. The room does have everything you need including a cooktop and dishes and pans, so it would be very nice if you were staying for a longer time. It's decorated very nice and has plenty of room. There is a pool that looks very nice too but i didn't get a chance to use it. I let the gentleman know when we were checking out about the floor when we left but he made some excuse about using steam cleaners and they weren't working correctly.

I went to Sarasota to for a long weekend to attend a wedding. I found the Regency on a hotel website and after reading the reviews selected it forprice and overall customer satisfaction. I had a king size room with a separate bedroom sd an open plan kitchen living room which had a fold out bed. It was very spacious and as | was travelling alone more than enough. All the applicances appeared relatively new and in good working order. The room was very clean and tidy. The staff are very friendly and the desk staff very accomodating and helpful. The place is quite secure and verey well lit at night. This being said my only suggesgtion would be to install in room safes for the bit of added security.

Firstly, understand this review is written for the level of hotel I expected. I knew this was an older, “classic” style Florida hotel, originally built in the 50’s or 60’s. This is not a Hilton or Marriott, but rather a local place that has plenty of years behind it. That being said, the staff and owners obviously care about the property and giving clientele the best experience they can for this level of lodging. Rooms have been updated as the years have passed. Considering the price per night was around $100 including any city fees, the Regency Inn was clean, AC worked great, and all staff encountered were friendly and helpful. As other reviewers have noted, it appears there may be some longer term tenants among the regular travelers, but they were not a problem in any way. I suppose if you have issues with being around people who are different than yourself, and judge them simply because they may be of a lower economic position than you are, then this might not be the place for you. But, if you want management that values your business and attempts to give you a clean, conveniently located motel at a great price for the quality you get, including pool, free WiFi(okay but not great speed), kitchen area with fridge and microwave, and in our 2 room suite, 2 TVs, then this may be the best bargain you will find. It ain’t the Ritz, but it ain’t Motel 6 either. Thank you Regency Inn Sarasota for a great 2 night stay.

You never know what you'll get with a vintage motel, but this place was clean, pleasant, and reasonably priced. The kitchenette with fridge and microwave was a nice touch. There was also a newer coin-op washer/dryer available downstairs.
The motel does face a busy road but noise wasn't objectionable, and there was a well-lit, expansive city park a block away for evening walks. We spent two nights and wouldn't hesitate to book again.

This place was nothing like the pictures online. First impressions the guy at the desk was rude and didn't understand why I was upset that the rooms I booked were not close together. One of the rooms smelled so badly of smoke we asked for a refund and doubled up. The TV didn't work in that room either, the floor had weird lime rust spots, no microwave and no ice bucket. The curtains were so stiff when I tried to close them and I noticed many of the metal rings had rotted off the curtains. No coffee pot, no toiletries, torn becomes, only two pillows, no iron - we paid $168 dollars a night 😒

This is an old-style, throw-back motel with some nice renovations on the inside. Good amenities including a fridge, microwave, and separate sink Would have preferred firmer mattress as they seemed a little dated but adequate. Good shower. Didn't try the pool but looked nice and maintained. You'll hear a little noise/conversations/car noise because the doors face to the outside but that is to be expected at a motel. Certainly not fancy but a good value. Housekeeping staff does a really good job and management is friendly. The area felt fairly safe though I didn't hang around outside late at night. I stayed here mainly for the price and location. Nothing special but it worked.

When we walked into the room, we were very glad to see there was no carpet on the floor. Even though this is an older hotel, it seems as though they have upgraded at least the room that we were in. We did notice there was a cracked shower bar, but it was still working. We notified the manager on duty the next morning and they said they would take care of it. One bed was a softer mattress than the other bed, so they may need to be upgraded. There is no breakfast offered at this hotel, but not too far from the hotel was the best bakery I have ever eaten at, Mama G‘s. Overall, we would definitely stay here again, but probably not more than a couple of nights unless mattresses were replaced. And there was no coffee maker in our 2 double bed room.

This is an "old" Florida motel. It is very clean and well kept. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The only down-side is that it's close to a road and had some traffic noise but it's in a good neighborhood so no loud cars or motorcycles making it worst. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who can climb two flights of stairs (if they cannot get the 1st level). We very much enjoyed our stay.

The hotel is a cheap remodel done on an old building that should have been torn down instead. The bathrooms are dated and they put down laminate over floors that are not level and move around when you walk. As the building is old and easy for bugs to get into, there were many roaches (Not Palmetto bugs) throughout the room, including a plethora of baby roaches in the bathroom! We won't be back!
