If we could give this hotel 6 stars it still would not be enough. We want to thank General Manager, Janet Hansen, and her wonderful staff that make it a delight to stay there. This is the second time my wife and I have stayed at the Sarasota Carlisle Inn and this time we were there for an extended stay. The hotels quality, cleanliness, and staff friendliness and professionalism to see that you are satisfied with you stay is seldom experienced. The room rate is very reasonable and we were surprised how spotless and spacious the rooms and hallways were compared to other hotels. Although the hotel is not beach front property it is literally minutes away from the Gulf by car. The morning breakfast featuring real eggs and Amish/Mennonite baked goods is a treat compared to other hotels offerings. Additionally, you can enjoy other homemade meals at the Amish/Mennonite “Der Dutchman” restaurant which is literally located steps away in front of the hotel. When visiting Sarasota this will be our “go to” hotel for all future visits. Thank you again, Janet.

Our first visit here for multiple celebrations and a beach break and the 5 star reviews are definitely on point! The staff were very welcoming and thoughtful ready to help with a smile. The hotel and room were spotless and the Deluxe Queen room with kitchenette served our needs perfectly. The beach was an easy drive and location close to our favorite sushi restaurant. The beds were very comfortable and temperature in room just right for our picky family who like it cold. Breakfast was amazing with an assortment of pastries and breads, including oatmeal bread and longjohns which were both delicious, and fresh scrambled eggs, sausage, yogurt, juices, coffees, and spreads including their yummy peanut butter spread, and waffle makers. The Amish bakery on site had so many home baked goods and we bought cinnamon buns, jams, cheese, peanut butter and pastries to take home. Only regret is not trying their pies or eating at their restaurant which we plan on doing next time. The large gift shop had so many cute gifts merchandise and Sarah helped us do much - thank you Sarah! We’ve already booked our next stay during the holidays. If we had to recommend an improvement it would be to install a handhead shower head over the stationary. Otherwise what a treasure of a hotel!

I recently stayed at the Carlisle Inn to be near Sarasota Memorial Hospital for a family member. From the moment we checked it, until check out, the staff was wonderful and ver accommodating. The room comes with free wi-if, free parking and a free home cooked Amish buffet breakfast. In keeping with the Amish tradition, the rooms were spotless and beds are very comfortable. Connie, the front desk manager was welcoming, friendly and extremely accommodating due to our circumstances. Janet, the general manager, was wonderful and would check with guests during breakfast to see how everyone’s stay was going. Her passion for hospitality was very evident. Thank you again for making us feel so welcome, we look forward to our return. Truly a special place to stay.

After reading the reviews, we stopped at the Carlisle Inn on our way to Siesta Key. Planning to stay in a major chain hotel on Siesta Key beach, we stopped at the Carlisle as it was on the way. Wanting to see if the Carlisle was as clean as everyone says in their reviews, we walked around the premises checking out the dining room, pool area, & bathrooms. It was very clean so we didn't ask to see a room. The woman we spoke to at the front desk was friendly & helpful. Not booking a room we drove the 15 minutes from the Carlisle to Siesta Key Beach, we toured rooms at the outdated, worn, & stained hotel chains on the beach. We turned around & booked only one night at the Carlisle Inn as we wanted to check out another beach to stay at. Bekah, Rebecca & Connie were working the front desk. They are 3 of the best, friendly & helpful staff. While explaining how we read the reviews & checked out the other hotels, Connie upgraded us to a Suite. Thank you Connie!! After seeing our corner room suite we immediately went down & booked a 2nd night at the Carlisle! Nothing at the beach could beat this Inn & room. Not being on the beach was fine as the 15 min drive was easy & parking at Siesta Key Beach is free.

Our corner king bed suite had a sofa with tables, full size: washer, dryer, refrigerator, dishwasher, stove, kitchen table, & chairs. The flat screen TV was hung on the wall across from the bed, which DH thought was too far for his liking, but fine for me as it could be seen in the sofa & bed areas. The bed was extremely comfortable, with a selection of pillows.

The dining area does not have a bar. It is set up for the continental buffet breakfast of eggs, sausage, biscuits, yogurts, fruit, waffles, coffee, tea, juice & cereal. The breakfast is included with your stay. If you're looking for a full breakfast, you can visit the Der Dutchman which you can walk to as it's in the parking lot of the Inn.

The pool is not fancy as it's a standard type hotel/motel pool that was clean, warm & had a separate hot tub. We did enjoy using the pool. The hot tub & fire pit are next to the pool, but we never had the time to use them.

Everyone from staff to guests were friendly. We truly enjoyed getting to know everyone and getting sightseeing suggestions. Thank you to all the staff at the Carlisle Inn Sarasota for being friendly & keeping to high standards.

This is a well-built and planned Amish community, conference hotel. One might think it an odd place to be in Florida when many Amish farms are elsewhere. It is immaculately clean and the furnishings are craftsman-made. At times you will feel transported to another time where values are simplistic. You’ll see lots of trike bikes and there are quilts on the walls and calming music and vignette seating throughout the hotel where people can have gatherings and visit. The big rooms and wide hallways far exceed the minimum, modern day building codes required for hotels. We visited in the winter, snowbird season and the cost was competitive with other nearby hotels. There is an Amish restaurant, called Der Dutchman in front of the hotel and we were planning to go for a Sunday brunch after checkout, and to take some pies home, but to our surprise the restaurant was closed. If you want delicious Amish cooking while staying at Carlisle Inn, don’t go Sunday.

I had the pleasure to stay at the Carlisle INN, Sarasota FL in December 2024. This has to be one of the most enjoyable and comfortable hotel stays I have ever had. The experience is far superior than traditional box hotels, and not far from the same price point. The hotel is very clean, from the outside to the inside. The personnel are all friendly, kind, and actually care to make sure you are comfortable and happy. Everyone had a smile, a hello, and went out of their way to accommodate your requests. The hotel rooms are a good size, very clean, and updated. The beds were sooo comfortable. (I don't believe I've ever made that comment except for one B&B in Austin Texas.) Our room had a beautifully crafted four-poster bed. They provide nice touches such as shutters in some rooms, little decorative plates as soap holders in the bathroom, towel bars attached to the vanity under the sink so you don't have to keep towels on the countertop. The complimentary breakfast was plentiful. The made-fresh daily donuts from their bakery next door were wonderful. They have cookies and coffee throughout the day in the breakfast room. The hotel is in a quiet area off the beaten path, but very close to the main areas of Sarasota such as downtown, Siesta Key, Fruitville road. There is a sense of calm and relaxation throughout the hotel. They have subtle piped-in music in the public rooms (nice touch). You can easily find a comfortable public room to read, work, watch TV. There are plenty of nicely decorated public rooms with lovely furniture. We were there a few weeks before Christmas and the entire hotel was decorated beautifully inside and out. I can't say enough good things about this hotel. What a find! I will be back.

This hotel has a lot going for it. The hotel and rooms are well crafted, generous in size and immaculate. There is ample parking. The staff is genuinely warm and welcoming. It is a good value and the location is convenient for reasonably quick access to most of what you would want to see in Sarasota-providing you have a car.

What infuriates me, though, is the budget motel "complimentary breakfast" Why serve tasteless orange and black water (orange juice and coffee), steam table scrambled eggs, supermarket generic brand bread and pastries (With a few exceptions) when your company is serving decent juice and coffee next door at Der Dutchmen? Most people are willing to pay a little more for something that has some taste and quality. This is not a budget motel, so don't treat your guests that way.

Moral of the story: go somewhere else for breakfast, or better still, the hotel should correct the problem by getting their supplies from their own colleagues.

“My stay at this hotel was truly enriching. In addition to the excellent cleanliness and the abundant and varied breakfast included, I was fascinated by the careful decoration and historical details that adorn the place. The incorporation of Amish culture into the setting is simply admirable, adding an authentic and special touch to the experience. The large and spacious room reflects this attention to detail and helped make my stay even more pleasant. “This hotel has definitely become my preferred choice and I will recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic and memorable experience.”

My husband & I spent 10 incredible days at the Carlisle Inn, Sarasota Fl. From the time we checked in, until the time we checked out, the staff, including the Gen. Manager, Janet Hansen made us feel like family. This was our second visit.

The hotel is absolutely beautiful, and has a very calming effect to it. Rooms are large, clean, and comfortable. Mornings include a great, complimentary breakfast. Coffee & tea are available 24 hours a day, along with freshly baked cookies in the afternoon.

The Carlisle Inn is by far the best hotel we’ve ever stayed in, and we’ve stayed at many hotels.

Beautiful facility. Everything so neat and clean and spacious. Breakfast was lovely and the staff kind. Their linens did not have any fragrance to irritate allergies, which was refreshing. Staying here allows you to get on the waitlist at Der Dutchman, whose buffet is delicious! Only downside was our beds (double full/queen room) were a little too firm and uncomfortable for older family members, but the rest of us were so tired that we slept good anyway. The pool area was beautifully maintained. Loved the cookies that were available until 8 pm, too (oatmeal were our fave)! Already trying to figure out a future visit!
