Arrived at the hotel on a Monday for a 3 night stay. Check-in was quick as i had done the on-line check-in the night prior. Unlike Disney that allows you to charge purchases to your room with a pre-set limit, here you have to deposit money to your account to be able to do that. Whatever amount you deposit is your limit. Stayed ion an outdoor corridor family suite. The buildings and grounds are certainly not kept up to Disney standards and are not nearly as clean or maintained. The building i was in was undergoing renovations which meant construction crews and noises which were never disclosed to me either at the time of reservation nor check-in. Disney does both of these. We could hear the construction in our room but since we would be gone most of the day, was not a huge deal. However, the last day of my stay, we were woken up by loud non stop hammering prior to 8am. Who wants to be woken up that early while on vacation?? I immediately reported the issues and was compensated by free breakfast vouchers and a credit applied to my account. Though i appreciated the efforts, this still left a bad taste in my mouth as i feel i should have been told ahead of time i might experience these issues. Other than these issues, the hotel itself has plenty to do. The kids enjoyed the pools very much. The food was typical theme park food at theme park prices, nothing unexpected and comparable to Disney. Would i stay here again, probably but will be sure to ask about any ongoing construction prior to!

My family was very excited to stay at the Cabana Bay and we were sadly disappointed. The two hour line for check in was the start to a very unimpressive experience. Once we were finally checked in we made it to our very typical room. When making the reservation i indicated that we were celebrating a birthday and not one single mention was made of the event. The pools ended up being closed due to weather, which i understand is out of their control but the other amenities and "fun things to do" were unavailable as well. When the rain started we were unable to bowl because it was closed, Several of the shops and eateries were closed as well. the only available amenity for the kids was the cash draining arcade which was totally overcrowded since it was the only thing to do in an understaffed resort. Someone even stole my sons game card and there were no associates on the floor to help. The only one working was behind the prize counter. I would have taken my kids and tried to further explore the resort but I am temporarily handicapped and had to call each and every time that I wanted to change location and have someone with a wheelchair come and take me and leave me at the next location. i was not able to rent a wheelchair to move around at my own free will and I felt even more dependant that I was. I see how some people would appreciate the way that it is done but I personally felt trapped by the need for someone to come and feel that there should have been an option. Long story short, we paid Universal Resort prices for an overbooked, understaffed hotel that could have outdone by the HoJo down the street. If Universal can not manage to staff the hotel then they should not book to capacity. I would surely try Cabana Bay again when I am no longer wheelchair bound and they are fully staffed and operating at capacity not just booked to capacity but this time it felt like a complete waste of money. Sorry.

The check-in procedure is total disaster. We spent 3.5 hours in line. Obviously, the hotel has no idea about current technologies and together with the '50s decor has '50s lack of technology. I talked to the check-in manager twice during those 3.5 hours. All he told me was "Yes, ma'am, sorry, ma'am, we cannot do anything about it, ma'am". The people in line were hungry and tired, many of them travelling with kids. And yes, it's still pandemics but nobody was reminding people about distance or whatsover. I wish I read the reviews before I booked this hotel. Our stay was completely ruined. We planned to enjoy Lazy River and City Walk and were not able to do either.

Feel free to stay here if you want to wait 2+ hours to check in, have very basic accommodations, have the AC go out at midnight and fill the room with plastic burning smell. Would never stay here again!

Hotel was as expected and rooms were clean. This was after it took us 4 HOURS to checkin. This was absolute craziness and the lobby was packed with people waiting. No real apology or sorry. Gave us only free parking, but that does not make us for the 4 hours of our trip that we will never get back. Food in the hotel is good, but be prepared to wait. The text message housekeeping request through the front desk was nice and all request were taken care of within 30 min. If the front desk issues are addressed and fixed I would consider staying here again.
